“Wicked at the Beach” earns 5/5 Mad Mermaids…Delightful Fun!
Life continues wickedly well for Mandy and Rick Rowling. Sophie is getting bigger and talking up a storm, Jackie is her usual spirited self, and BFF Fiona is getting married. But, who would predict the death of a loan shark and an angry mermaid? Lotta Smith has penned another entertaining read using a first-person narrative from Mandy’s perspective. With humor and drama and a ghostly twist, this twentieth book has vivid descriptions painting the setting and characters and dialogue that illustrates the various personalities. It’s a shorter read, easily finished in one maybe two sittings, but it is not short on fun and entertainment whetting the appetite of any cozy fan! A series that has gone on as long as Paranormal in Manhattan Mystery undoubtedly finds the original tenor of the series may not be the same. Mandy’s abilities have changed, the banter between Mandy and Rick has evolved from colleagues to dating to married to parenthood, Sophie gets her focus, and even Jackie, the spirited spirit, seems to have mellowed. I am enjoying the changes and still an eager fan, but at times, I miss the original “edge.” Cozy fans unite…this is a great series and this book is fun!
Mandy, Rick and Sophie are off on a destination wedding trip to see the wedding of Brian and Fiona when they encounter an angry mermaid trying to take Brian away or cause mass destruction if the group does not solve the murder. Interesting fun story, but it was a little annoying with the constant cooing at Sophie, Rick and Mandy’s daughter. It distracted from the story, but other than that it was a fun romp through the island with the group trying to determine who the murderer was. I received an ARC and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
The Rowland family is going to Paradise Island for the wedding of Mandy’s BFF, Fiona, and Brian. Mandy has a bad dream about Brian and a mermaid, but come to find out, it wasn’t a dream. A mermaid was trying to take Brian because someone dumped a dead body on her beach! They make a deal to find the real killer and let the mermaid do what she wants with him/her. Can they find the killer? There are no clues and the man had drowned and was buried in the sand! You will have to find out if they can solve the mystery in time and if there is a wedding. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Light, fun read.
Fiona and Brian are getting married, or are they? Not if an angry mermaid has her way! The gang lands in the middle of another murder without a ghost to help them. Can they solve the crime and still make the wedding? This was a light, entertaining read.
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
