Alexandra Martin isn’t sure whether to run from her past or chase it. Jameson was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. She’s compared every man she’s ever dated (or married) to him, and so far, no one has even come close. Alex is now a successful single mother with a great career and a relationship that, on paper, should be everything she wants. So why can’t she get Jameson out of … of her mind?
Jameson Butler would love to run from his present. His picture-perfect marriage is over, and his carefully constructed world has been flipped upside-down. Just when he’s reeling from discovering his wife’s infidelities and that the baby she’s carrying may not be his child, Jameson finds Alex back in his life. Could her reappearance in his flailing world be coincidence, or is it fate?
The future is waiting. A lifetime has passed since they were eighteen, and time has fashioned them into different people. They have their own stories and are each struggling to fight for what is most important in their lives. Can they find their way back to each other? Should they even try? Every choice has led Alex and Jameson to where they are today, but every choice has consequences.

This is the second book in the Starkford Series and focuses on Alexandra Martin and Jameson Butler who were high school sweethearts but separated and never forgot each other even though they had married and divorced other individuals. This wonderful book has a range of emotions from heartfelt sorrow to humor. The plot has unexpected twists. I could not put this book down from the first page to last.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Alexandra and Jameson have a history of high school sweethearts. Now years later they are back in each others lives. Both have baggage and were not planning on any new relationship. There might just be a second time around for them though. I enjoyed the second book in the series and look forward to more

High school sweethearts. Misunderstandings. Revenge for those misunderstandings. Marrying others. Crossing paths again 14 years later.
This is a chick lit story filled with angst about unrequited love and unraveling the problems of the present to be able to make right with the past.
The female characters are strong and independent, but can never quite admit their feelings when it matters. The men are both manly and emotionally expressive. It made for a good story.
So if you like stories about families, coparenting, the trials of divorce, and still see everyone live happily ever after (except those that don’t deserve to), you will enjoy this book.

This is book two of the Starkford Series. It’s Jameson and Alex’s story. You can read it as a standalone but I think the series is better enjoyed when read in order. You’ll obviously have some spoilers for book one in this one since Jameson and Patrick are brothers. I’ve read the series out of order and still enjoyed it. This book is a well written, witty and enjoyable read. It’s also emotional, I ran the gambit of mad, sad, frustrated, & happy. Alex and Jameson’s story will break your heart and at the same time frustrate you to no end. It’s so obvious these two belong together and should have never been apart.
Jameson and Alex meet when they’re seniors in high school. He family moves in next door and it’s a bit of a rough start but they eventually start dating. Several things happen that break them apart, bad decisions and a lack of communication play a very heavy part in it. It’s now 14 years later. They’ve both been married to other people. Alex had been divorced for years and Jameson is going through on. They both still have feelings for each other but they need to talk about the past and Alex keeps avoiding it at all cost. Plus, they both have stuff to deal with their ex-spouses. Jameson soon to be ex-wife is a real piece of work. If you’ve read the first book, you’ll have already had a very lovely introduction to Bethany. Will Alex and Jameson ever ha e things work in their favor?

RATING: 3.5 STARS. A lot of angst could have been prevented with a conversation, especially since H and h lived next door to each other! That part was really frustrating. So many years lost due to miscommunication. But then, Alex would not have Eli, so there is that. Anyway, high school sweethearts separated for 12 years are back in the same town and reconnect. Both are going through issues with their exes while trying to deal with old feelings for each other. I really wanted to bop both of them upside the head at different points of the story, but we made it through, lol! I do want to go back and read Dawson’s story and am waiting to read Mads’ story.
