I was the golden child. The one all the Cerberus guys looked up to. I was on my way to becoming the next career Marine. But after my last deployment to Syria, being a Marine was no longer an option.Unfortunately, my not so honorable discharge from the Corps didn’t get rid of the demons created while I was enlisted. Not even my childhood friend can save me. I’ll destroy her just like I destroyed … her just like I destroyed everything else I touched.

Griffin has just returned home after being discharged from the military. He was a career Marine, but did something stupid and got kicked out. He gets home and just wants to be left alone.
Ivy was a childhood friend and she had always had a crush on him. But when he left, he treated her as a child. She wants to help him, but he doesn’t make it easy.
I loved this book. With all the demons and secrets that Griffin came home with, Ivy seems to calm him. But will she stay when she knows all his secrets. Cerberus MC has always been one of my favorites and this book is just one reason why. It dealt with several tough topics, PTSD and the results of following orders, and was an honest look at consequences.
This is a fantastic addition to the series. I love it when the series has been around and the kids have grown up and gotten their own stories. This story centers around Griffin and Ivy once Griffin is dishonorably discharged from the Marines and the struggles he faces with PTSD, lies and cover-ups. Ivy is his rock even though he pushes her away at every turn. I couldn’t stand Griffin and the way he treated Ivy but you just have to love him in the end. Does he conquer his demons or does drown his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle? Will Ivy stick by him even when he is being an a$$ to her? I highly recommend this book and the series!! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!
At 23, Griffin never expected his military career to be over. But that doesn’t make his discharge and much easier. Ivy can see just how broken Griffin is but it’ll take a lot to convince him that his life isn’t I’ve just because his military one is. This series is all about the new generation of the MC and I love it so much. I’m excited to see who’s story is next.
Griffin is the eighth Cerberus MC novel. I love this series, and I couldn’t wait to read Griffin and Ivy’s story. I devoured this in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. There was so much emotion pouring off the pages, that you can’t help feeling what the characters did. My heart broke for Griffin, he doesn’t know how to deal with his demons, after being discharged from the Marines, and Ivy seems to be the one person who can calm his thoughts down. I’m glad he finally woke up and saw what was right in front of him all along. Ivy is so sweet and caring. I loved seeing past characters, and getting updates on what’s been going on with them. In case you didn’t know Griffin and Ivy’s dad’s have their own stories that you can read, Shadow is Griffin’s dad, and Kincaid is Ivy’s.
This was a really good book. Loved how the story kept moving and didn’t linger on the troubles of Griffins past. I thought all bases were covered and loved that we got a glimpse at some of the other kids and the adults of Cerberus.
It has been a long time since I have read a Cerberus MC book and how I have missed my boys. No matter which generation we have in each story, what comes through is that they all have HEART. Griffin is no different. We have read in the past about quiet, shy, unassuming Ivy. She is so different than her gregarious twin sister Gigi. We also know she loved Griffin despite the fact that he only had eyes for her sister. Griffin’s dream is to be a career Marine but something goes wrong and suddenly, nothing will be right ever again. His demons take complete control and no one can get through to him…except Ivy. These two are in for a truly bumpy ride. Are they strong enough to get through it?
Wow, what an gripping ride the author took me on with Griffin’s story. The book is more than just well written with wonderfully defined characters, the storyline broke my heart in two then took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions all the way to the very end. Kudo’s Ms. James for an outstanding read.
Griffin has wanted to follow the men of his family’s footsteps for years by becoming a Marine. He spent several years proudly devoted to serving his country and loving every minute of it; right up until one night that everything went wrong. Griffin was forced to make a decision no person in their right mind should have to do. Disgraced and out the corps Griffin returns home feeling like a failure. He turns to solitude and the bottle with only the demons in his head for company and that’s just the way he wants it, feeling like he doesn’t deserve anything more. But then Ivy, the girl who has had a childhood crush on him for years busts into his life and won’t let him be, no matter how much trouble he causes or how many times he pushes her away. But what happens when he pushes her away one too many times? Will Griffin ever return to the man he was and to the Cerberus family he’s a part of or with PTSD and his choices be his downfall?
Just an amazing heartfelt story. I can’t recommend Griffin or any of the Cerberus books enough. If you haven’t read the first generation or the second generation of the Cerberus MC, you are truly missing out. Ms. James has a style of her own that will keep you glued to her books and impatiently waiting on the next one. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars for another phenomenal addition to the series.
I fell in love with Griffin and Ivy’s story. Griffin is the son of Shadow and Ivy is the daughter of Kincaid. I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series.
Griffin was just dishonorably discharged form the military and is suffering from ptsd. Ivy in in college and has always been in love with Griffin.
After being discharged from the military he comes back to his hometown and starts drinking his pain away in a bottle. Ivy is there trying her hardest to be there for him and help him heal. Griffin keeps pushing Ivy away but she is persistent.
What will happen when Ivy’s father finds out about them and when a individual comes back from a past mission.
Loved this book so much! Griffin comes home from the military a broken man who thinks he has no self worth. It takes Ivy and her longstanding love for him to show him what a good man he is. I loved absolutely everything about it!!
Marie James does it again with a great book. 5 stars, well worth the read. Griffin has some struggles, but with the help he comes around.
Griffin has been dishonorably discharged from the military for circumstances for something which is not in his usual character. He goes home and is having a hard time adjusting but when he sees Ivy she makes his world a little bit better. Ivy is going home for the summer to see Griffin after hearing he is home. She doesnt like him drinking to the extreme. When Griffin sees Ivy with other men it sets him off. She is suppose to be his and not anyone elses. His dad and uncle and her dad want to help him out when information is found out about the member of his marine group his charges come up and there will be some changes to his discharge.
You will have to read this book I loved it

Griffin has to be collected from Camp Pendleton when he is discharged from the Marines. At 23 this is not how he saw his life going; his “uncles” Diego/”Kincaid” and Dominic, picking him up like a naughty child and that his own father Morrison/”Shadow” wouldn’t even come for him. There are reasons for everything though, but no matter what happens, he would not tell anyone what those reasons are. Even when they get back home to New Mexico, he just wants his solitude to deal with what happened. What he doesn’t count on though is Ivy.
Genevieve “Ivy” Anderson, daughter of Cerberus MC President; Kincaid, has been in love with Griffin for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, being 3 years older he only ever saw her as a child and then he’d left for boot camp. As soon as she hears Griffin is back though, she just knows she has to go to him, she’s sure she can help him in some way. It doesn’t turn out to be quite so easy though when she finally gets to him, what with the constant push and pull with him, the demons he is obviously fighting, and the worry of what their parents will think. Will Griffin be able to come to terms with what haunts him and open up to those that love him? Will he finally realise that the one he needs the most has been in front of him for years? Will Ivy have the strength to deal with any of it?
This was such a good story. So many ups and downs for Griffin get you right in the feels at times as he struggles, but the way the author deals with it all was done really well I think. I love the way she wrote Griffin and Ivy together, especially at a certain intimate moment, that was just brilliant and had me laughing out loud. I’m so looking forward to the next one and I give Griffin 5 stars.

Do yourself a favor, and read the previous books before this, there is stuff in this story, returning characters and such that will make no sense if you haven’t read the previous books. Griffin, the first baby brought into Cerberus MC is all grown up and a hard core Marine.. that is until he is discharged. Thrown into a tailspin Griffin has no clue who he is anymore and his demons haunt him to the point where a bottle is the only thing that will help. Ivy has been in love with Griffin for the longest time, and once she hears that he is in trouble she gets to New Mexico to help him asap. Too bad for Ivy that Griffin never looked at her the same as she does him. Now, Ivy is the only person that has a clue where he is hiding out and just how bad a shape he is in, and for some reason no matter how hard he pushes, she always comes back. Is Ivy strong enough to help Griffin with his demons? When she learns just what those demons are, will she still stand beside him?
This was a really good story, and an amazing addition to the series. My gut hurt for Ivy, while at the same time my heart was hurting for Griffin and the pain he was in. This was the perfect book for Ivy, a bit more on the tame side but she was the innocent twin. I give this 5 stars and can’t wait for the next book!
I wanted to get drunk right along with Griffin. My heart hurt for him. He pulled through and got his HEA though. Griffin still has some kinks to work out but with Ivy by his side he will do it and she is the perfect woman for him. Ivy and Griffin’s story is cute and relatable. I loved watching Ivy grow up and handle the situation she saw fit. I can’t wait for Samson’s story!
This book had sadness, desperation and chemistry coming out of the pages that I couldn’t put down. Darkness With a Saving Light
Griffin was a Marine who had seen and done more than a lot of Marines had. Following orders was all he knew he had to do especially since everyone in his club back home had served at some point in time. Griffin came back a broken man who was drowning his memories in bottles not being able to face his family because of what he had done.

Would she be able to help Griffin with his demons or would he end up pushing her away? How much could Ivy actually take?

Great addition to the series. I couldn’t stop reading once I started. Griffin and Ivy’s story was sweet, sexy and sadly beautiful. Loved catching up with the Cerberus crew. Can’t wait for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
THIS! This is the reminder as to why I have loved the entire Cerberus MC Series! The focus on one couple, but the camaraderie of the Cerberus MC, their women and the next generation! WOW! Griffin! A glimpse back to his childhood, the man he became and how he handled the disastrous situation that brings him home, not only to face his family and the MC, but Ivy too. Reading this book makes you wonder who has the strongest will and determination! A word that describes what I like about this story is the RESPECT shown, for their parents, superiors and themselves! Catching up with some of the Cerberus MC, makes me what to start the series all over again! Book 9 can’t come fast enough!
Griffin came home–well his home town. He couldn’t face his family or friends. Not after what he had done. Not that any of them knew. He knew. And it was eating him up alive. Is there such a thing as suicide by the bottle? He was well on his way to finding out.
Ivy had crushed on Griffin since she was a kid. That’s all he’d ever treated her like. She wasn’t a kid now and he was home. Would she make him notice her now? She was older but still innocent. He wasn’t the guy she used to know. He was drunk and grouchy. When he did notice her it was demeaning and nothing she would consider. Yet she seemed to see past his outer actions to the inside where the pain and fear fought with sanity.
He sees the innocent woman she is and for some reason, she calms the rage inside. Can he change his ways enough to get her to stay with him? Not that she’ll be with him physically, simply help him calm, even slow down the drinking. Will his obsessive action tear apart any chance they have?
The pain he feels is spread to the reader. The reader will have to make the same decisions as his family and Ivy concerning the man he was before and the man he is now. The MC involvement is family and some friends in this Griffin and Ivy’s story. Touching, heartbreaking, and finally … well, I’ll let you figure that out. You won’t be sorry. The author even gives a little extra scene of one of the guys and his fantasy come true–maybe not!
Title: Griffin: Cerberus MC Book 8
Author: Marie James
Genre: Contemporary MC Romance
**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
I have missed the Cerberus MC and I so just fell in love with Griffin. I haven’t been too big of a fan of the next generation so far but this book was great.
Griffin is Shadow’s kid and Ivy is Kinkaid’s daughter. I think why this was such a great read for me is because Griffin was a Marine and has to deal with PTSD. I have a brother who was in the Army and suffers with PTSD.
Marie James has dealt with this serious subject matter in a loving manner. She shows the seriousness of the situation and the mental and emotional trauma these men and women go through. Not to mention how they torture their bodies while they suffer. Also how it affects the people around them, especially their loved ones.
It may not have been as intense or graphic; or as dark as it could have been but the point and emotions get across. For everything that happens Griffin still feels so innocent. You know he truly is a good man. Shadow and Misty raised him right.
