In a month, I’ve gone from magicless to one of the most powerful dark mages in the world. You’d think that would make my life easier. But all that power is only potential until I learn how to wield it, and my enemies have a huge head start. While I’m picking up every skill I can, adversaries both within Villain Academy and beyond it are working to knock me down.My fellow scions? I can count at … scions? I can count at least a couple of them among those enemies. The others… Let’s just say the lines between light and dark have gotten a lot more blurred.
Nothing’s safe here—not my mind, my heart, my magic, or the few people who’re proving themselves my allies. When the danger turns deadly, will I be able to save all of them and myself?
Rory’s battle to survive Villain Academy has only just begun. Vicious treachery, unexpected allies, thrilling passion, and wrenching heartbreak await in Vile Sorcery…
Vile Sorcery is the second book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there’ll be no choosing required.

Audiobook review: Vile Sorcery is book 2 in the Royals of Villain Academy series. The story picks up where book 1 leaves off. Rory is once again fighting the injustices of the society she is thrown into while trying to learn as much as she can. The steamy scenes (yes, plural) are well written. The characters are complex. I’m really interested in how this series will unfold. The narrators did a great job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Intriguing addition to this series that sees Rory fighting hard while the guys are still less then pleasant. Though a couple are starting to come around giving me hope but Malcolm needs what’s coming to him. Lots of secrets along with the tricks makes for a great read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
After passing her test, Rory has locked in her stay at the academy. Can Rory keep up and stay strong against those who want to see her crumble?
Eva has done it again!!! This is the second book in the Royals of Villain Academy series. I immediately followed over from the first one and I could not put it down. This book gave me everything and more. The slow steady burn keeps me wanting more. The banter back and forth that just has me smiling up a storm. The strength and power that keep me internally screaming “GO RORY, DON’T GIVE UP”.
Rory is still one of my favorite characters. She is still given the third-degree burn from the other scions. She doesn’t give up. Even when she’s showed that she’s tired, she won’t back down or grovel. I love it so much!!!
The run-around I had with all the guys, slowly killed me. Connar breaking my heart since the last one, but slowly putting it back together by the end of this one. Jude making me fall so hard and in love with him, only to stab me and Rory in the back. Declan fighting himself about what to do, but finally admitting to some of his feelings. Malcolm is still being Malcolm though. I hope he’s the one groveling soon.
I am immediately going to the next one. I cannot wait to see how everything plays out. I can’t express enough how much I thoroughly enjoy this series and you just have to go read it. If you like magic, if you like a slow burn, if you like enemies to lovers, and if you like reverse harem relationships GO PICK UP THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW!!
I thought book 2 was a great follow-up to book 1, had me more invested in these characters and want to shake them all with their decisions and can’t wait for them to be a unit instead of all the pushing and pulling and being on opposite sides. I loved seeing some walls come down, I loved the angst and heartbreak between some, and am ready for Malcolm to get the stick out of his butt and realize what he wants to happen shouldn’t happen and he needs to listen to his fellow scions. I enjoyed seeing Connar finally do something admirable and am excited to see what happens with him and Rory in the next book. I hope Jude can snap out of it, I mean he is trying to understand, but its not clicking yet. and I am worried about what might happen to Declan. The ramifications will probably bite them later. I was heartbroken but knew it was gonna happen eventually with one character and sad that Rory keeps losing friends left and right. I loved getting more insight into the powers and how they can be used against each other/see how to combat some of them. I loved the little Hogwarts-esque team/league challenge. I also thought the moments with Rory and Shadow was adorable. Overall 5/5 for the story in book 2 of 8 of this series
In terms of narration I thought there was improvement, between and 4 and 4.5 stars for me. I thought the emotion that Meg provided was gut wrenching, especially with the event at the end of the book. I think the portrayal of Debra is helping make me suspicious of her and her narration of the mean girls was amazing. I felt the sorrow with Imogen and the feeb I am blanking on (totally not playing into the Villains storyline/relationship I promise haha). Great job, Meg! Stephen did a good job, I thought he was better at not being screechy/whiny with Rory’s narration. He definitely did a great job with Malcolm and Connar’s scenes. I am interested to get a POV from Jude after the blow-up with Rory, feel how lost he is.
Already downloaded book 3, loving this story so much already! I am glad this series is complete because I would be devastated to not know what would come next
Book 2 was action packed and an emotional rollercoaster, it had me hooked from the start and ready to start book3, great narration.
This story and series has took a major turn of events and boy does it draw you in. It has twists and turns throughout it that has become so addictive. It is continuing in the next book and I can’t wait to read it. This one is beautifully written and the characters have developed more and more. It is one that is a must read!!!!
Wow! This ‘Ice Queen’…..
Has BITE! Love it! Rory’s still dealing with some major BS and then-some! She’s literally fighting just to survive this crazy life @ Villain Academy and has no one she can trust or really has her back. Her mentor has just died by saving her from himself because he was cursed to kill her!?! Poor girl can’t catch a break! Am loving this series! On to the next!! #HappyReading
In this reverse harem second book in the series, our heroine has made some startling discoveries about her power. She is unintentionally seducing the 4 power houses males trying to hurt and control her one at a time.
It is fun to watch her work her personal magic, and learn how and why her magic works.
I love that she is the most powerful student and can’t wait until she is up to full speed and makes them pay.
A good read.
This is the second book in the Royals of Villain series and it was amazing! Absolutely loved this book! The story line is fantastic. Eva takes you on a adventure that you can’t come down from. You really get to know the characters and when you get to the end of the book you don’t want it to end. It was action packed and full of suspense, intrigue, betrayal, emotion, chemistry and romance. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Sinister Wizardry!
I was so excited to listen to this! The first one was over the top fabulous. This one didn’t inspire me so much. It is a good read/listen because we get to see what happened next and a bit more. What I did love about it was we are seeing more and more of these boys. They were so solid in book 1 and in here we see the cracks start to form. Maybe I should say changing. I think being around Rory is making them want to be better. Well maybe all except Malcom. I think he needs more time. I enjoy all their little nicknames for her. Princess, Ice Queen and Glenda… not that she always enjoys them.
The evilness is still around and the pranks aren’t as cool but we do get to see Rory learn more. Maybe we get a little more insight into her as well. I was surprised at a few things and shocked at least once. This seems more about sleuthing and fortifying relationships. It’s still enjoyable to see what happens and how things are progressing.
I listened to this on audio. Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter did amazing as always. They each embody these characters and it comes off very well done. I look forward to the next to see what happens next.
This just keeps getting better and better. Rory has gone from no magic to major magic. She’s still learning her way around campus, but she is slowly gaining friends and getting better with her magic. I don’t know what to say about the scions. Declan was my favorite to begin with and still is. Jude is a work in progress, as is Connor. Malcombe is still a major jerk. I loved this book just as much as the first. I don’t know how I will make it til the next book. I have faith Rory will change things in a major way. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Vile Sorcery is Book 2 in the Royals of Villain Academy. I’m not much into bully romance but ROVA is making me rethink this. Rory has a very strong sense of right and wrong and she will not be bullied into changing. In fact, she has gotten some of the scions to begin rethinking their views. This is well-written and the character development is fantastic. Enjoying how the characters are changing. Looking forward to the next book in series to see where Eva Chase is taking this storyline. I recommend this book and series. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
No one at villain academy seems to be what he or she is. Rory finds more clues on her background and possibly some allies. A dash of heat, romance snd lots of action and suspense…hard to wait for next in the series.
That ending has left me absolutely numb!! My heart is broken for Rory and I’m not sure what else to feel about those last unfolding events!! I cannot praise this newest work of Eva Chase enough! I’m just blown away!! I think this book is mesmerizing and intriguing and most definitely rises above many of the other RH academy series out there!! From start to finish it was one captivating jewel. My heart aches so deeply for Rory!! I just want Malcolm to bow down to her! I want the other guys to choose her and I want the drive behind all of the scheming to be brought to light. I know that with all of those brilliantly different POVs, we’ve gotten insight into each guy, but I just feel like what we’ve read is just the tip of the iceberg meant to sink Rory. Everyone is plotting against her and I want to see champions rise to stand besides her. She doesn’t need a savior, but people in her corner would be a beautful sight! This is the best series that Ms. Chase has ever written I feel like I won’t be breathing easily until I get book 3.
I am totally lovin’ Eva Chase’s Royals of Villain Academy. I read Cruel Magic (book 1) a while ago and then just re-read it again before glowing right into book 2, Vile Sorcery. Rory Franco May have come into quite a shock being told she’s actually Persephone Bloodstone, the long lost heir to one of the five royal families of dark magic (nevermind this coming just after her effective family was wiped out), and Villain Academy, with its rivalries and treacheries might’ve also been a shocker, but Franco is no ordinary gal. Nope, she just the sort of perfect kick-a** heroine I adore. Following along as she takes on everything thrown at her, and – oh yeah – the pretty great slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance that comes along with all of this, is a total pleasure. No wonder why I loved these first two books so much. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. Each of these books definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that each book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend both of them. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
Book 2 picks up where book 1 left off and there is no lack of exciting fun! Rori is learning about her surroundings and her fellow peers “enemies?”. This was so much fun to read and I cannot wait to see what is in store for us in the next book!
I was gifted an ARC and will GLADLY leave a voluntary review.
This is the second book in Ms. Chase’s “Royals of Villain Academy” series and I loved it as much as the first book. Rory is staying tough even with the betrayals stacking up. Her use of magic keeps getting better and better and I’m still loving to hate Malcolm.
I’m looking forward to Book 3.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
**** No Spoilers ****
I have became highly enthralled with the story. Rory is still taking names and kicking butt. She refuses to break. I’m still not happy with the other 4 other scions. Connor just messed up with turning his back on Rory. Jude keeps tormenting Rory until he realizes that he doesn’t want to break her. Jude tries to make up for everything that he did in the past, but he screws up majorly. Delcan keeps his distance from Rory as he tries to help her. Well Malcolm is still Malcolm. While things at school stay the same, some things do change. There seems to be some discord between the scions. Poor Rory keeps losing those she cares about. There is a plot against Rory and she must figure it out before she is taken to task.
••••• I highly recommend this book/series! •••••
