This book genre is not a normal pick for me but I’m glad I read it. It is such a well written love story that I flew through the pages. It was quite the adventure these two went on together and I felt I was right there with them. This book also opened my eyes to the pain and suffering trauma victims go through whether it’s from war or assault. I would recommend giving this book a try. Great read!
I enjoyed this book very much with all of the romantic elements and hints of suspense. The development of the characters and their surroundings was spot on. I felt like I was back in New England with two main characters who were very sweet and fun to get to know throughout the story. I highly recommend this book!
I love romance stories, a great series, and hallmark movies…and this book has the beginnings of it all. I can see this being a hallmark movie or series for sure. You fall in love with the main characters, Lanie and Matt, along with the whole Crane’s Cove crew. I love how Kerry Evelyn weaves in a beautiful romance, along with giving us a peek at how it is to live with PTSD and how the support of someone can help you heal.
I love how Lanie and Matt are complex people who just work so beautifully together. Their relationship grows and builds in a way that makes me root for them. I also love that while it’s part of Matt’s job to protect Lanie she is also able to take care of herself. She doesn’t just wait for Matt to always swoop in and save the day.
Kerry does such an amazing job of creating a world that you don’t want to leave. One where the characters become people you want to know more about and you get that with each new story. For me when I start to think of a book or series as “friends to come back to” I know I’ve found something great.
I think I’ve read Love on the Edge at least 3-4 times now and still get the warm fuzzies and the feelings of excitement when Matt and Lanie meet and get together. I still root for them even though I know it’s a “done deal”. I still love to watch their love come together in such fun, realistic, fall in love as I get to know you kind of way.
I’d recommend this book to readers who love sweet romance with happy endings who appreciate the struggle it takes to get there. You know what I mean…when your heart gets that happy, fluttery feeling when the couple finally gets together at the end of their journey. It makes the ending that much sweeter!
Love On The Edge by Kerry Evelyn is a delightful contemporary Christian romantic suspense and the first book in the Crane’s Cove series.
There are two major themes in the novel. One is of hiding. We are reminded that whatever we face, God will protect and guide us in His love. We can face our tomorrows because God is already there. We can boldly say as in “Joshua 1:9… I am strong and brave because God is with me… Even in the worst of times.”
Within the novel two characters are suffering from PTSD – one is a veteran and the other a victim of a vicious attack. Together they help each other to overcome. They compare their traumas but “my experiences don’t diminish the terror of yours.” Trauma is trauma. Everyone responds differently but there can be no comparisons.
Our experiences build our character. “The good comes from bad and it shapes us.” We learn and grow through our journeys. As we learn to lean on God in the hard times, so we will grow – not only in strength but in our relationship with Him.
We all carry burdens. Sometimes the burdens we pick up were never meant for us to carry. We need to hand our burdens over to God and trust Him to carry them and us.
Often we do not need others to put us down as we verbally beat ourselves up. However “you are so much more than what you feel right now.” Our feelings are unreliable gauges of our character. We need to believe we are who God says we are.
The characters are all delightfully drawn and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. There is a close knit community where strangers soon become friends. I really enjoyed Love On The Edge. It was a charming read.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
Sweet love story of two people who are dealing with trauma, who help each other work on healing. Wonderful characters. Enjoyed learning about them and how they share their experiences to help each other. Lovely setting. Scary stalker kept my anticipation level high. Wonderful other characters also who I hope will show up in future stories.
When Matt thinks things will never get better inside his head he is tasked with watching over his Colonel’s granddaughter.
Lanie was full of life until she trusted the wrong person.
These two are bent but not broken. They find strength, and much more in each other throughout this story. And no stalker can take away what they find together. Beautifully written story.
Love on the Edge was my first book by Kerry Evelyn and it did not disappoint. Matt and Lanies story was very emotional and raw. It dealt with assault and PTSD. A lot of places and things in the book clicked with me and I absolutely loved the resort! Will be reading books 2 and 3 very soon!
A very well written book on how love from friends can help you when your world becomes shattered.
