The 40th anniversary edition of the classic Newbery Medal-winning title by beloved author Katherine Paterson, with brand-new bonus materials including an author’s note by Katherine herself and a foreword by New York Times bestselling author Kate DiCamillo. Jess Aarons has been practicing all summer so he can be the fastest runner in the fifth grade. And he almost is, until the new girl in school, … runner in the fifth grade. And he almost is, until the new girl in school, Leslie Burke, outpaces him. The two become fast friends and spend most days in the woods behind Leslie’s house, where they invent an enchanted land called Terabithia. One morning, Leslie goes to Terabithia without Jess and a tragedy occurs. It will take the love of his family and the strength that Leslie has given him for Jess to be able to deal with his grief.
Bridge to Terabithia was also named an ALA Notable Children’s Book and has become a touchstone of children’s literature, as have many of Katherine Paterson’s other novels, including The Great Gilly Hopkins and Jacob Have I Loved.

A wonderful story about imagination, love, and loss.
A modern classic that draws you in and never lets go.
A kid’s book, it’s the story of the friendship between two kids and how it effects one of them. Very powerful.
I read this with my kids. Life lessons abound in the pages. I highly recommend this book.
Because it make you think your imagination comes true
I read this book in my 5th-grade WIN class and I fell in LOVE with the characters, storyline, and sequence and I’m sure you will too!
What a beautiful and touching book. I wish I hadn’t been sitting in the public library when I finished it, because even though I’ve seen the movie and knew what was coming, I was a blubbering mess. It’s a lovely tale of friendship and adventure and I recommend to anyone from child to teen to adult who hasn’t already read it.
Absolutely couldn’t put it down. Loved it
This book is one of those classics that every one should read at least once. It is actually a favorite from my teen years that I have in hardback.
What a suprise
A wonderful look at how tragedy shapes us.
This is a coming-of-age book that helps children deal with tragedy before it strikes home. I first read this book when I was about the age of the children in the book, and now 20 years later, I still remember that book. It will forever be cherished.
I thought this book would be awesome and inspirational and full of fantasy. I was rather disappointed with the extreme tragidy in it though. I read it when I was in a time and place where I could not handle the amount of sorrow that occurred. I could not handle the pain. It was not what I expected…..
As we all know the book is always better than the movie!
