I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 2 because it didn’t grab my interest.
The Cattleman Series is great.
Clint is a oil tycoon, rancher, fireman, former military man who lost his leg during combat and has a electric prosthesis and a around cool specimen of a real man. Clint’s mom is a TV person and has so as informed Clint that is not a whole man, worthless and she does not support him. Every chance she get she belittles him. That’s a hard pill to swallow when you are rejected by your own mom; just goes to show you anybody can be a mom but it takes a real woman to be a mother.
While Clint was recovering from his military injury he had a girlfriend but when Clint decides he needed to stop wallowing in self pity and wanted to do for himself she walked away leaving Clint even more bitter towards females.
In drives Fee is a reality TV star and during her childhood and into adult always moved never had a stable home. Clint and Fee met at the Blackwood ranch after she was not paying attention and rams the back of a pickup truck that he is restoring. He’s upset somewhat and quotes her a $20,000.00 repair job on a old truck and she is not willing to pay.
He has known women so he thinks like Fee but she is nothing like the women that has met in the pass.
Clint and Fee both can help each out with there issues.
The Question is can Fee a city girl become a cowgirl and leave the city life behind and get down and dirty with a rancher.
Don’t want to give the storyline away so why not pick up book #2 in the Cattleman’s Club Inheritance series and while you’re doing that why just get the entire series you will not be disappointed.
4.5 Stars
Written by Joss Wood, Rich, Rugged Rancher is the second book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series. I didn’t read the first book, Tempting the Texan by Maureen Child, and thus I feel as though I’m missing something as to the overall series plot. What I gather is that when Buck Blackwood died, he left everything he owned to his much younger (about his children’s age) ex-wife and didn’t leave anything to his three adult children who weren’t close to their father. I’ve also learned that there’s an illegitimate son no one has met and they’re trying to locate. It seems that Buck’s will stipulates that Miranda Blackwood the ex-wife, has to live on and spend her nights at the Blackwood Hollow Ranch. With this being the case, Miranda who stars in the reality TV show Secret Lives of NYC Ex-Wives brings the cast and crew to the ranch to continue their shooting schedule.
Seraphina “Fee” Martinez is a cast member on the show. She’s an only child who never put down roots due to her father being in the military and moving around every year or so. Fee likes to take it upon herself to fix problems and people. When she crashes into Clint Rockwell’s classic Chevy pickup truck she doesn’t offer up an apology. In fact, when the grumpy rancher is stubborn and rude, she gives it back to him. It seems she has found a new project. “Fixing him might make you feel better but it’s not about you, it’s about him.” We’ll see about that.
Fee and Clint bump heads often. “God, he’s hot but he’s so annoying.” There is no denying the sizzling attraction between them. Fee is surprised to learn that Clint is a local military hero. When she learns Clint lost his leg and single-handedly kept his unit safe after their chopper went down, she’s even more intrigued. Clint may be interested in getting Fee between his sheets, but he’s learned from experience that his disability is too much for people to handle. When their attraction reaches a boiling point, they give into their desires only to find they underestimated each other. Fee isn’t the shallow “I don’t want to get my hands dirty” type and Clint is more sensitive and vulnerable than he lets on.
After dusting away the surface layer of Fee Martinez, I LOVED her. When she isn’t playing it up for the cameras, Fee is genuine and has an incredible heart. She likes to help and be needed. She doesn’t take any junk and more importantly she calls Clint out when someone needs to. Clint has never met anyone like Fee. She’s just what he needs, but doesn’t think he deserves. “They were all the opposites–sun and moon, light and dark, city and country.”
In case you can’t tell, I loved these two together. Joss has written a good story and romance. I’m looking forward to reading more books by her, and reading more books in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series.

This is a complex story touching on some tough subjects in a way rarely tackled in romance. I was curious to learn how a Harlequin traditional line I’ve been reading on and off since I was 14 would handle a disabled main character.
I’m of two minds about the portrayal, though mostly on the positive side. While he has a prosthetic leg, and serious mental issues deriving from encounters during his recovery, at the time of the story, he is almost fully capable. Mentions of advanced technology not available to every person with a disability, and situations where the prosthetic can’t assist, indicate he’s not an example of the norm, which helps. Representation is important, but since we don’t see his recovery process, the extent of how his amputation physically affects his daily life is largely glossed over. There’s a scene in the end that improves this, but you must take my word because I won’t spoil it.
Mentally, as I mentioned, Clint is a mess. This makes him a successful romantic character rather than an overly perfect one. To the outside viewer, he’s incredible: a man who lost a leg in the military who comes home to run the large family ranch, very physical job, and command the local volunteer firefighters. He also hires veterans for ranch hands, giving them a way to support their families and job skills they can take elsewhere. Inside, though, he’s decided his injury has made him repulsive. He withdraws from society, finding solace in the animals on the ranch until the sexual tension with Fee proves impossible to ignore. Even before Fee, though, Clint has been an active part of the community, using his skills and wealth to help. He only withdraws once the work is over and the town wants to celebrate.
I really liked Fee. She is opinionated and outspoken as promised, but she lives up to her traits in action as well as words. When trouble arrives, whether to a friend or in the form of a deadly fire, she doesn’t hesitate to jump in and help. Even better, she listens when those with more knowledge set limits or correct her misunderstandings. She isn’t arrogant, just determined. Nor does she back off when she sees someone else talking themselves down, standing up for the people she cares for even when they won’t. It’s a powerful vision of the female main character in romance because she is strong and assertive without being invulnerable, a delicate balance that’s hard to achieve.
The characters are what make this book so enticing. The point of view even rests on characters important to the series, but not primary in this book, allowing the larger story to advance. I found the way the greater tale is matured and teased fascinating in a series written by multiple authors. This story engaged me enough to provoke speculations such as who is the bastard son they’re trying to find. I have to read on to find out if my guesses are accurate, something I’m not used to in these types of series that tend to be more stand-alone. Speaking of which, I also want to see more of the other characters, especially those who became more well-rounded through borrowing the microphone in the later chapters.
On a technical level, the dialog is wonderful, full of sass and double entendre. There are detailed, open door scenes true to the Harlequin line, and interestingly, both main characters did not believe in the long term at the beginning. The backstory to support these attitudes comes in long internal monologs that could have been data dumps but avoided this by carrying through the character’s personality and voice, so I enjoyed reading them.
Despite my concerns with Clint’s portrayal supporting false beliefs about disability, I understand the limitations of a traditional romance novel as the forum for a disabled main character. I feel the author did a good job capturing the mental difficulties and the influence of other people’s reactions, especially within the framework.
The main characters, and many of their friends, were complex and fun to spend time with. The attraction between Fee and Clint is tangible, as is why they both think anything long term is impossible. This book was well worth my reading time.
P.S. I received this Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher through NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This story involves Clint Rockwell, an oil tycoon with an amputated limb who becomes a loner, and Fee Martinez, a reality star who arrives for filming on a ranch owned by Clint’s deceased friend whom he promised to help run. The sparks fly when these two get together. I recommend this book with its great plot and diametrically opposite characters who are instantly drawn to each other with their sizzling chemistry.

4 1/2 STARS!
A delightful unexpected romance! Joss Wood brings us the delectable second book in the new Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series and continues unraveling secrets surrounding Blackwood Hollow Ranch. I absolutely loved this book, but it did feel like the choice of these two characters as the second book instead of one of the Blackwood siblings pushed the mystery to the back burner somewhat. I’m looking forward to continuing the series soon!
Rancher Clint Rockwell is a really solid guy and was a joy to get to know. He lost his leg in the Army and while he has prospered greatly in his physical healing, circumstances after he returned home led him to close off emotionally. Meeting Fee seems to be just the healing balm he has been needing.
Seraphina Martinez is tired of the reality show glitz that she’s been surrounding herself with and feels really alive for the first time in a long time when she meets and trades wit with Clint.
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a bit of scandal, a bit of glitz and a whole lot of heart in their romance.
I loved this book so much. I loved the feisty Fee and the sometimes grumpy Clint. Although I don’t like reality TV, I loved reading about the love-story developing between Clint and Fee. I loved the emotional depth in this story. I can absolutely recommend this book to you.
This is what it’s all about: Ever since the war- accident that took his leg, oil tycoon Clint Rockwell doesn’t do relationships–he likes being alone. And he doesn’t need anyone’s pity. Then fast-talking reality star Fee Martinez sweeps into Royal, Texas, on to his ranch…and into his bed. It’s only for a night, and then two. Wanting more is impossible, but this goodbye might be the hardest thing he’s ever done…
Solid 4.5 star
I loved how both Fee and Clint had strong personalities because boy do they need them, they love to antagonize each other and their attraction is as fiery as the fires that Clint helps fight. You get to see them both fight the attraction as well as how they are changing as people within them selves and it is exciting to see how they are so good for each other, but their stubbornness to say how they really feel due to the thought of getting hurt is maddening. This was a great pager turned where you got to know and enjoy the characters as well as get swept away in the story and has an ending that made me fist pump the air as I was so happy!

Socialites and cowboys.
Shouldn’t mix. But they do in Royal Texas when a reality show is shooting with Fee as one of said socialites and Clint the cowboy who’s showing them how a ranch work.
Clint is packing baggage. He’s got a prosthetic leg and a chip on his shoulder. I liked that he was a mass of contradictions and emotions.
Will he put himself out there for a relationship?

Oof! This book hit my emotions hard. A wounded warrior hero and a fierce spitfire of a heroine. Their first encounter is absolutely explosive, and I wasn’t sure how Clint and Fee could possibly recover. I wanted to change the world for Clint. He’s so noble and his alpha-protector instinct is strong. It took me a while to warm up to Fee. Her “fix the broken man” attitude rubbed me the wrong way, and I didn’t like that she was so resistant to accepting responsibility for her actions in the beginning, that she couldn’t see how she was making the situation worse. I loved the ending. It was particularly nice for me to see that both Clint and Fee had some growing and apologizing to do. I really enjoyed getting to know this cast of characters and I look forward to getting my hands on the rest of the series.

The second book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Inheritance series a well written story that had a very good storyline and the story flowed smoothly from page to page. Oil tycoon Clint Rockwell and reality star Fee Martinez’s story. This is a must read story once I started reading I was not putting it down. Will Fee find a home in Royal with Clint
This is my 3rd book by Joss and I absolutely love how she brings you in to the story of Clint and Fee who clash yet spark attraction between them on Fee’s reality TV show on Clint’s neighbor, Buck’s ranch that he has been helping with since his friend’s illness and death. Yet when the brash Fee doesn’t see Clint as a disabled person, can she break through his defenses for a happily ever after? You have to read to find out and won’t put the book down until you turn the last page. Plus, you can never go wrong with a Harlequin Desire book for a good, steamy read!
This was so goooooood Clint is indeed the embodiment of rugged, he is everythiiiing . And Fee ain’t no slouch, she is all confidence and woman and is he is goals .
The supporting cast are some of the best I’ve seen in a series. There is something for everyone in it. The intrigue, the sniping the passion, it’s all you want and need to be over the moon while getting lost in these pages.
You deserve this book, promise .
