The KGB thought that there wouldn’t be any blow-back after sending a Directorate S agent into Israel to use El Al airlines to detonate a nuclear weapon in New York City. They were wrong. Saul Greenbaum is dead, Marin Sutcliffe and Jacob Mitzak have returned to New York and The Box has been decommissioned. Will Hessler is now alone, out on his own and headed to Moscow to deliver a message to … out on his own and headed to Moscow to deliver a message to Colonel Sokolov and anyone else who had a hand in an operation that nearly killed thousands.
You went too far, and now you have to pay.

Aleks Rosen has many balls in the air. He is determined to keep Israel focused on internal defense and security, and out of more foreign matters- of course using his contacts that may well set Europe on fire once again, and eliminate those who have knowledge of his treasonous actions.
Will Hessler gets put into play and dropped from 30,000 feet via a HALO insertion into Omsk. Taking out Makalov is the plan. Or at least that is what he is told.
Rosen needs Makalov removed since he is privy to his status as a cohort of Directorate S, working with the Soviets. Rosen has seen to the slaughter of many of his people in order to further his own cause as well as to further Soviet interests. As Hessler points out, the 132 civilians on board the airliner from El Al were not combatants and they were forced to die to prevent the Soviet bomb from entering US airspace in an Israeli jet. Innocents. Deaths for the greater good of the nation according to Aleks Rosen.
Nadir Fox, Betz and Abner Kline also make somewhat intense and surprising appearances at various points as they all attempt to save the world from the madness.
Awesomely written action and dialogue with solid historical background and reference points.
I have read most of the books in this and related series. I either bought them in Kindle or borrowed them from KU. I also received an advanced copy of this book from Booksprout.
I have gotten really hooked on the unique combinations of action, history, and good character and plot development.
Hope you will enjoy like I do!
I love everything about this series and just live for the next installment! I devour each book as it comes out – I cannot get enough! It is not too late to pick up and start reading. Each book is better than the previous! Great characters and a touch of reality. Love it!

This book ends the Jericho Black story and sets the stage for the Will Hessler story to follow. A lot happens here in a fairly short time so the reader needs to pay attention. The action is almost non-stop though, so the reader’s attention is kept focused to the end.
I have grown to like these characters, flawed though they may be. They came of age during one of the most horrific periods in history and what they had to do in order to survive forged what they have become in this
series. What I found especially interesting in this book and the earlier ones is the author’s description of the political power playing that occurred between rival nations. Powers that were sworn enemies were working underground for objectives that did not always appear to be in the best interest of any one of them.
The Moscow Protocol is a top notch thriller and shouldn’t be missed.
