Pieces of a Broken Heart is a second chance romance that makes your heart pitter patter and leaves the butterflies in your stomach hoping that Zach and Dani can find what they lost all those years ago. This is a story that pulls you in from the start and doesn’t let you go until the end. As you read their story, you can actually see their story in country song being played on the radio. PBH is book that gives you all the feel you want in a second chance romance.
Samantha developed the characters so well, that you can see how over time they grew from kids in love to adults, knowing what their heart and soul wanted and needed. This book was amazing that I didnt want it to end. I can’t wait for more in this new series.
I’ve read books by this author before, but this is the beginning of a whole new series. I can’t help but be excited. I loved her first series so much, and I just know this might be a new favorite!
Zach left behind his hometown in a trail of dust, the minute he turned 18. He left behind everything he’d ever known, including his high school sweetheart, hoping to make it big in Nashville. He broke promises to come back for her after her graduation, breaking her heart into pieces. Eventually, Dani moves on with her life, finding love again, and having a child. Once again, she is heartbroken when she looses her husband to death. She goes back to her home town, picking up the pieces of her life, opening up her own bakery. She’s doing pretty well, until Zach comes back home after many years away, building a name for himself as a country singer. Old feelings are dragged back up, leaving confusion in its path.
First impression of this book? I really didn’t like Zach to begin with. He was an arrogant playboy, who didn’t think about the consequences of his actions, or who could be hurt. Even as he got older, he still held on to the superstar life style. This was a great example of a second chance romance, from an author who isn’t afraid to tackle the characters that you love to hate. I have to admit, as the book progressed, and the characters developed, I began to see Zach become the man he always had the possibility to be. It just took a good woman to make him see it! This is definitely a book that will pull on your emotions!
Zach had dreams for a better life outside of his hometown for both himself and his girlfriend Dani so he up sticks and leaves at 18 promising Dani he would be back for her once he makes it big in the music industry but he never did ….
Now Zach is back in town laying low and Dani is also back trying to move on with her life after having endured even more heartbreak after Zach left her and never contacted her again. Now it is time for both to face their past and decide where to from here along with Zach learning what family is all about and what he has missed out on when he left.
This is a fantastic second chance love story that will have you laughing, wanting to cry, wanting shake both Zach and Dani, fall in love with those that live in Whiskey bend and most of all want Zach and Dani to finally get their happy ever after with each other!
My rating: 4-stars.
The book opens with a surprising scene. It caught me off guard. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to continue reading. I did cause I love Ms. Conley’s writing.
There is a lot going on with the characters in about the first half of the book. The story is very fast-paced. I had to re-read some of it to be sure I understood what was going on.
I liked the main characters, Dani and Zach. I didn’t really feel a connection to them though. The secondary characters are interesting to read. I’m hoping each of them gets their own books.
The second half of the book is, even more, faster than the first half. There’s a lot going on and a lot to remember.
I don’t wanna call them plot holes but there were a couple of situations that weren’t answered. At least I don’t think they were. Maybe they’ll be answered in the next book.
I did like the characters crossover at the end of the book. And that ending! I hate cliffhangers. I need the next book now.
Overall I think it was a good read. I’m looking forward to the next book.
