A blessing? A curse? It’s not easy to possess the gift of knowing too much. What at first seems like a standalone bank robbery becomes something much darker as a pair of masterminds hack their bloody way onto the list of the most notorious US heists. It’s not a job exclusive to the FBI, but Winter’s office nemesis, Sun Ming, is convinced that she holds the key to taking down the murderous … down the murderous criminals hungry for fame.
Forced into the spotlight, Winter wants only one thing…to solve this case so she can focus on tracking down The Preacher. But the “gift” he left her with might destroy her first.

The FBI team assigned to the case includes Sun Ming and Winter Black, neither of whom likes the other. But when it seems that Sun has her own agenda, Winter knows that they must learn to work together.
I really enjoyed this book which is a great second in the series. The book’s well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you’ll like and others you won’t. I was hooked from beginning to end. I’m looking forward to the next book and the rest of the series.
I loved it
I absolutely Love this series. Winter Black is a great character. All of the characters are well developed and the storylines are always entertaining. Love the mystery and twists and turns along the way. Very well done. I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving this review
I’ve luvd this whole series. I can’t wait To read each one and see new characters and new plots. One of the best written series I’ve read so far!!
The 2nd book in the Winter Black series, another very good read. The author definitely has the art of writing suspense/thrillers very well. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
This book kept my interest from the beginning. I was totally involved with Winter, wondering what would happen next. Needless to say, I didn’t do much else until I finished reading it.
Another great book from Mary Stone. Had me hooked from beginning to end, could not put the book down. Her writing makes you feel like you are there with the characters, sucks you in. Lots of twists and turns. Loved this book and can’t wait to read the future Winter Black series.
Book 2 or if you count prequel , then book 3 in the Winter Black FBI series. Winter was the only survivor when her parents was killed and her little brother went missing. From the time she awoke from her coma she knew she was different..studing hard she reaches her goal to be an FBI agent. Since she awoke she has had “spells” during migraine the let’s her know things. Blessing or curse???
Great books can’t wait for next one.
The second book in the series this is another one you won’t want to put down. Winter just doesn’t seem to be able to catch a break with coworkers or at least one in particular Will she once again be on the right track in spite of those trying to undermine her or will this be the one that’s just out of reach
The saga of WInter Black continues in Winter’s Curse as she tries to discover who killed her mother and father and what happened to her missing brother that night over a decade ago. While working to solve new FBI cases with her coworkers, Winter learns that for every action, there is a reaction. Some effecting Winter, some her coworkers and some effecting people she will never know. Again, once I started reading Mary Stone’s latest work, I did not want to put the book down until I had finished it. If you enjoy a good page turner book that keeps your mind wondering, you WILL love this one! Enjoy
Characters so richly described I could pick them out of a crowd. A mysterious villain lurking out in the dark edges. Scenes and action so rich they placed a movie in my mind. But the book is far better than any movie could be. The plot? To quote an early 1980’s computer game, “You have entered a maze of twisty turning passages, all appearing the same”!
I look forward eagerly to the next adventure.
In the meantime, I’d love to take Winter to lunch sometime.
Difficult to put the book down! Definite page turner! Good character development, plenty of action, just the right amount of time devoted to each scene. Looking forward the the next book in the series! KB
The Winter Black series is wonderful! I loved every single minute reading them. From the prequel – Winter’s Origin to Winter’s Mourn and then Winter’s Curse all amazing! The characters are great and give way to page turning action. If you like suspense and deep mystery with a mesmerizing plot, (although there is some R-rated language) I totally recommend these fantastic novels!!! Thank you, Mary Stone for these great reads!! Looking forward to the next installment!!! +
I loved this book and the characters in it. The turns and twists kept me guessing. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. Winter’s unique ability keeps me interested. The characters are well developed.
I just discovered Mary Stone and this was definitely the series to do it with. Winters Curse is an Excellent book! Holds your attention throughout the entire book! Twists and Turns were Amazing. I highly recommend this series!!
Mary hits another home run with this book. She has a unique way of pulling you in making you want to continue to read the next page!
Winter Black is an FBI agent with a gift that could also be counted as a curse. The Preacher that killed her parents, stole her brother and put her in a coma, is continuing to haunt her as she works her cases. In this book we are dealing with a psychopath that causes the agents to go from coast to coast on a man hunt. The story keeps you involved thru out. I highly recommend it.
Winter’s Curse is the second book in the Winter Black Series by Mary Stone. After reading the prequel, Winter’s Origin, I knew I had to keep reading this series and I haven’t been dissapointed. Ms. Stone is an author who who knows how to write a fast-paced, page turning thriller with superb world and character building.
Winter Black survived an attack by The Preacher that destroyed her family, leaving her in a coma when she was thirteen. Since then, details stand out that others miss, areas of danger glow red, and debilitating headaches bring visions.
While Winter hasn’t given up on her search for The Preacher, this episode focuses more on the interactions among Winter and her fellow FBI agents and how they work or don’t work together as a team.
Winter is assigned as partner to fellow agent Sun Ming and neither agent is happy about it.
Sun has determined that a random bank robbery with two dead is just the start of a series of crimes re-enacting those from the early ’70s.
The tension and dislike between Winter and Sun may impact the the outcome of this case. Winter has the feeling that Sun is hiding something, and Sun doesn’t want any help, especially from Winter. Without any concrete evidence, Sun just announces what she feels will be the next robbery, even if it’s clear across the country. As the bodies pile up, Winter keeps trying trying to work with Sun and her ego to stop and capture the killers.
I suggest reading the prequel “Winter’s Origin” to gain some valuable insight into Winter’s story.
You won’t go wrong in ordering and reading this five star book. I’m looking forward to reading the next book and following Winter’s journey.
I received a copy of Winter’s Curse from the author and am happy to leave my hinest review.
This is a one sitting read. Get comfortable and make sure you have your snacks. I couldn’t put this book down. You are entranced by the story. You now want to know more about the preacher. Can’t wait to read the next part of this voyage.
winter black is a wonderful character, both repelled and grateful for her special bursts of visions. love the interaction between her and her two special fbi agent friends. also loved that this book is very well edited.
