The Portals of Tartae got me right in the first pages and left me in awe until the end. I loved everything about it, the scenarios, the enchanted characters, and Olivia’s quest to find herself. It left me day dreaming about being transported to Tartae too. I honestly can’t wait for the release of book number 2!
Im so in love with the Portals of Tartae, and its characters, easily the best fantasy book i’ve ever read!
I strongly recommend it !
Thats an amazing book ! I finished reading this book in only 2 days, a truly amazing journey. We are invited to embark with Olivia and Trevor in a magical world with lots of adventure and a villain that we cant forget.
This book has a so immersive story that lingers long after you finished it.
Sometimes I get myself relating real world stuff with Portals elements.
Its a must read for those who love fantasy.
Cant wait for book 2!
Traveling to Tartae was an incredible experience. I couldn’t stop reading about the amazing journey of two friends in a magical place, where they discover (or should I say remember?) how brave we can be when we need to protect things and people we love.
This book will definitely hold your interest. There are no slow parts! I truly believe that everyone will enjoy it!
The world of Tartae was a pleasant surprise to venture into. It spoke to me in a deep level as I am someone connected to magic and nature, to be able to cross a portal and walk through a brand-new world was exactly what I needed when reading this book. For a person who is a lazy reader, I could not put it down and finished in a day or two. Soooo good! I can’t wait to see what’s happening next with Olivia!
Wonderfully creative with in depth characters!
The Portals of Tartae is a must read to all that love fantasy. In a world so well crafted you feel you’re there living those adventures right alongside Olivia and Trevor, you can’t stop turning the pages. It’s been years since I read fantasy so well written. I can’t wait to read more about Tartae.
The Land with the Two Moons captured me even before I read the synopsis. Every once in a while you run into a book that has”energy”, and it beckons you to it even before you know what it’s about. So was the case with Soligo’s novel.
Once I began reading it, I was not disappointed. This novel is full of magic and adventure with a Lord of The Rings vibe, yet its approach is more modern and relatable.
I was pulled into the story immediately. Olivia is torn from her everyday life working at a bookstore, then thrust into a magical world she has no recollection of. Little by little, we meet likable characters and learn the history of Tartae, discovering ancient forests, portals, and more.
Author Soligo has a very unique voice. It’s a melodic flow with just the right amount of details and description while narrating at a pace that is both comfortable and easy.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs an easy to follow but magical read with intriguing and friendly characters that stay with you long after you’re done reading.
It seems there will be a continuation of the story in a second book, and I cannot wait to pick up my copy.
I read this book based on The Biased Bibliophile’s recommendation, and I was hooked from the very first paragraph! I’m thoroughly impressed that this is the author’s first novel considering how wonderful and high quality it was. The writing was smooth and flawless. I really liked all the characters, particularly Trevor with his funny and nervous humor. The ending definitely left me hanging, so I sure hope there will be a sequel!
After connecting with the author on Facebook, I was extremely excited to dive into The Portals of Tartae by Marcia Soligo! Marcia graciously sent me a signed copy of her wonderful novel, and I have to say, it was such a pleasant surprise!
The novel is about Olivia Halin, a young girl who is suddenly thrust into a seemingly unknown world, named Tartae, with her best friend, Trevor. Olivia and Trevor soon discover that there is something strange and magical about this world with two moons. The two go on many adventures in Tartae and are tasked with a huge challenge that puts the fate of both Tartae, and their own world, in their hands.
Honestly, if I were describing this book to someone, I would say it is similar to The Chronicles of Narnia, only it’s more modern and ultimately higher quality! The Portals of Tartae gives the reader that same whimsical feeling, that you get when you experience another world through a book. However, there were so many ways in which this book raised the bar for portal fantasy.
First of all, the writing in this novel is poetic, and absolutely breathtaking at certain points! On top of that, the themes throughout the book of conquering evil and appreciating nature (among others), are so inspirational and are flawlessly intertwined with the plot. This book has so much depth, that I feel as though I could read it again and find countless more hidden treasures within its pages!
Additionally, the characters were very likeable in so many ways, but Olivia truly shined as the protagonist! From the outset of the book I felt as though Olivia was very easy to relate to. Her feelings were similar to feelings that many people experience in their lives, and I soon became invested in her story. Soligo clearly put a lot of work into developing Olivia, and all the other characters in the novel.
I also enjoyed the little romantic details of Olivia’s life, but I appreciated that the romance did not overtake the plot of the story. Similarly, I love that Olivia’s best friend is a boy, and that their relationship was both deep and platonic. While I occasionally enjoy the friends-to-lovers trope, I think it is used a lot, and Olivia’s relationship with Trevor felt perfect in my opinion.
Overall, I think The Portals of Tartae is a highly underrated book that has the potential to become a modern classic portal fantasy novel! I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to read and review this wonderful hidden gem, and I hope many others get the chance to discover the magic that I experienced while reading this book!
This is by far one of the best Fantasy books I’ve read in quite a while, from the first chapter I was already completely interested in the characters and their stories. The world building is amazing, something that reminds me strongly of Tolkien. Definitely a must read for anyone who loves fantasy!
The Land with the Two Moons was even better than I imagined. A beautiful story set in a enchanted, well crafted world. I can’t wait for book II of the saga!
