When Natalie goes to help take care of her Grandpa Clay her life will change. Being with her grandpa and on the farm brought her closer to God. Watching Natalie and the neighbor Jacob try to fight their attraction to each other will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. The characters in this book are all very special and inspirational people. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
T. K. Chapin is a master at digging deep into relationships. This story is about the growing attraction between Natalie and Jacob. It can get a little uncomfortable when you realize you’ve never taken your relationship to God to the depth they do. Where does an attraction to the opposite sex become a distraction from God? I loved how Natalie grew closer to her grandfather as she took care of him and his home. I found the letters from her grandfather to her grandmother to be very touching and a glimpse into the past. Not a book to pick up for easy reading, but a good one.
The start of us
Natalie goes to stay with her grandfather during the last few months of his life. She has a opportunity to go back to school also. She meets Jacob who is the neighbor by her grandfather.
Both Natalie and Jacob had marriages that ended bad. They are neither one really looking for love again. They are just trying to live a good Christian life. But the Lord may have other plans.
This is a book that can make you think about things in your own life. I believe we can all learn from it. The characters felt so real. This is a start of a new series. I definitely look forward to reading the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
The Start of Us by T.K. Chapin is a romance book with so much more. T.K. has a gift for creating characters that are so real that you feel as though they are people that you know personally. Even though he writes in the Contemporary Christian genre, his characters are not perfect, they have flaws and weaknesses, and Natalie and Jacob are no different. Natalie and Jacob each come from a place of heartbreak and betrayal, which make them wary of entering into a new relationship and risk getting hurt once again. Natalie moves to the farm to stay with her dying grandfather, and Jacob is the boy next door. Their relationship gets off to a rocky start, and it’s not just because of Betsy the cow, eating Jacob’s garden. You will find yourself rooting for their relationship, and saddened when they hit a rough patch that doesn’t feel like it can be overcome. This book is one of T.K.’s best, and the only complaint I have is that it isn’t longer. I want more! I was given a preview copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I liked the family atmosphere in this book & the trust in GOD that was rebuilt in time for both Natalie & Jacob. I liked the parts that showed grace for past mistakes. I liked the opening of Natalie’s eyes to grace not works. I liked that Jacob could forgive his friend Andrew. I liked that this is a very GOD-centered book.
Good Christian Romance is exactly what I always expect from T.K. Chapin. This book does not disappoint. One of the best parts is how the characters are reaching for God. We get to go through much with them and learn much also. Very well written and uplifting. Highly recommend. I received an advance reader copy from the author. Opinions are my own.
