Our heroine may be a little too close to this one, or perhaps the killer is too close to her.
This is book four in the series, but it works well as a standalone. There are references to things past, but nothing critical to the enjoyment of this story.
This is a mystery novel at its core. Nothing wrong with that. The story is well written, easy to read and packs a complex plot with lots of twists and turns which keep everyone guessing as to where it is going and who the bad guy is. I really liked the characters and the banter between them, even when they were in rather sticky situations. The story moved at a good pace for me and kept my attention throughout. Overall, an excellent tale and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Highly recommended.
I received an ARC from Hidden Gems for review purposes.
This fourth book in the Anna Burgin series by David Bradwell was definitely a twisted tale about multiple murders and the suspects who were doing it. I must admit that I did NOT see the end coming that is revealed in the book as the author threw out so many red herring suspects that seemed almost perfect for the crimes it was hard to see the forest for the trees. The major characters, Claire, Danny, and Anna, are once again put through multiple life and death situations as they struggle to survive the cat-and-mouse game until the truth can be revealed. I am so looking forward to reading book 5 in this series. This is a voluntary review of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
This is a fast paced story with plots within plots and actions that lead to multiple misinterpretations. Anna, Clare and Danny have their lives so intertwined that it´s almost impossible that their actions do not affect one another. There is also another character in the Metropolitan Police – Lisa – who is going to deeply affect Anna´s and Danny´s lives. Court Me Kill Me is a book full of mysterious deaths, jealousy, strong friendships, love and betrayal that make it pure entertainment!
I received a free copy of this book from the author/Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.
I really like this series, set in 1990s London, it features some great characters, fantastic action and very well written dark humour.
The way it is written is quite unusual, partly in the first person of Anna, and the rest in more conventional third party.
Anna is quirky and has some great lines, her friend Danny is an investigative reporter, and is very tenacious, the third main character is Clare, who is almost paranormal in her ability to know what is going on, turn up without notice and generally live a very unusual life.
I loved the story which has loads of twists, plenty of excitement and a great climax.
Although this is part of the series, it contains enough back story to make it perfectly readable as a stand-alone.
I received an advance copy of this book, but have voluntarily written this review.
