The Moonglow Sisters by Lori Wilde is an interesting book which has elements of romance but more importantly is about three adult sisters coming together after a misunderstanding five years earlier. Their grandmother is undergoing brain surgery to extend her life after being diagnosed with brain cancer. One of the three lives locally, Gia, the youngest and only one capable of bringing the family back together. Gia dutifully calls her sisters: Madison and Shelley, hoping for the best. Madison shows up in all her New York TV start glory and Shelley eventually comes to the hospital needing someone to pay her $200 cab bill. Madi does. Madi is the oldest and Shelley in the middle. The vehicle to bring the sisters together is the wedding ring quilt they had been working on five years earlier when everything fell apart on Madi’s wedding day. She escaped to New York where she became the star of a homemaking (think Martha Stewart) show on a network similar to HGTV. Shelly escaped to Costa Rica where she worked as a yoga teacher. They had a lot to work through, not the least of which was their personalities and the secret their grandmother had that sent their own mother fleeing so many years ago.
This was a terrific book. Most women will recognize themselves in one or more of these characters. The story included a miscarriage, a cult, a fake engagement, a lesbian couple, lies, and misunderstandings. It takes a while to work through but eventually happens as the three pull together for a common cause. I quite enjoyed the journey during which many mistakes all of us will recognize occurred. It was an enchanting trip toward wellness with a great many people introduced and assisting in the journey. I recommend it as women’s fiction.

Favorite Quotes:
Regret tasted like burnt pennies in her mouth, and her throat clotted thick with the salty taste of grief.
… those Divas were the bomb-diggity…
Gia was feeling overlooked and incidental. “You guys always leave me out,” Gia grumbled. “Treat me like a mushroom, keep me in the dark and feed me—”
“Life is a puzzle.” Darynda backed out of the driveway. “Seems like by the time you’ve got it all together, it’s time to die.”
Contentment stole over her, and she realized she wasn’t thinking about anything. She smiled. It felt like recess. A time-out from the craziness her life had become.
My Review:
I thoroughly relished this cleverly plotted tale and by the end of the book, I knew this oddly enticing train wreck of a family so well I could recognize them on the street. They hadn’t always been a train wreck but they had always had issues. Each of the three sisters had strikingly different personalities, insecurities, and looks. They had been a close unit until “the Incident with Raoul,” which mercilessly taunted me until the actual event was finally revealed.
The writing was unfailingly engaging, easy to follow, and absorbing with cleverly layered with unusual nuances and unexpected twists, as well as witty Easter Eggs of humor tucked in unexpected places to balance out the emotional tone. The cast with packed with a lively and quirky crew of secondary and tertiary characters who provided considerable levity and amusing scenarios, such as the wry banter provided by the geriatric Quilting Divas and a cameo appearance by a hapless beach bush urinator. I adored this book and felt pleasantly entertained while I also gleaned considerable new knowledge about quilting, love bombing, and kite flying – all valuable lessons. Flying pigs, it was the bomb-diggity!
The Moonglow Sisters is Lori Wilde’s first women’s fiction book. It is an outstanding book! The story begins five years after a betrayal had divided the three sisters, Maddie, Gia, and Shelley. They have not spoken to one another for five long years, and news of their grandmother’s illness reunited them. I laugh and cry along with them as they struggle to overcome their hurt and to forgive. Lori Wilde writes chapters of each sister that help me get to know them as amazing women. The Moonglow Sisters is an unforgettable novel about family, betrayal, love, forgiveness, and second chances. This book is a cherished gift from a member in my book group, and I thank her for it.
I have been so lucky lately to have wonderful authors allowing me to review their ARC books. Lori Wilde has long been a favorite author of mine and she did not disappoint with this story. If you are a sibling of sister and a sister yourself you will see many things that you can relate to in this book. I come from a family of three and although the youngest is a man we all had some of the same struggles that were in this story. Secrets are kept, hurts are held onto, feelings of inadequacy are felt, and the need to take sides or run away is often the case. This is a must read book if you enjoy wonderful scenery, reconciliation, and true feelings being shared.
The Moonglow Sisters by Lori Wilde, set in Moonglow Texas, was the perfect book to read as I prepare to travel to Texas. This book is both as light as a summer breeze and as heavy as the dense humidity that can often come with summer, especially in Texas! Gia, Shelly, and Madison reunite to love and pray and wish their grandma back to health after a serious diagnosis. After five years spent apart and barely speaking following a wedding day debacle and serious sisterly rift, they must find a way to work together, to forgive, and to heal. To come full circle. Secrets long kept bubble to the surface and are revealed and only then can the sisters forgive each other and rebuild their relationship with one another and with significant others in their lives. Even Grandma has a special story, a long-held secret that once the truth is known finally sets her free and allows her to live her final days with the one true love of her life. This book definitely shows how we should never assume that we know what someone else is going through.
This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was heartwarming and engaged my attention. The characters were relatable and I didn’t want to put the book down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
The Clark sisters were once inseparable, then a little wedding day incident drove them apart, and forced them to all go their separate ways, leaving their beloved grandmother to live in Moonglow Cove, Texas on her own.
But it’s her deteriorating health and a last wish that is about to unite them after all these years. Maddie, Gia, and Shelley have come home and are about to embark on a journey that mends their broken hearts and restrengthens their sisterly bond… and grants their grandmother’s greatest wish.
The Moonglow Sisters is a story of healing old wounds, forgiveness, new beginnings, and rediscovery. Watching these ladies reunite and face all their issues was thoroughly entertaining and good on the ticker, they had me smiling quite often. They may have been divided, but their wise grandmother found a unique way to bring them back together once and for all, and remind them of the importance of family. With it’s touching story line, captivating words, and endearing easy-to-love characters, Moonglow Sisters is a can’t miss tale! This is definitely one of my favorites from this author to date, her well penned words inspired and left my heart happy, highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
The Moonglow Sisters had everything and more that I was looking for. Sisters that are reunited after a falling out five years ago, a fake engagement and a small town feeling. Their grandma, who is now sick, had one wish left and that was for the sisters to be reunited and finish the wedding quilt. Each of the sisters are so different but can they put aside their differences this one summer.
This was a hard book to put down. I loved each of the sisters. Loved the small town, how everyone comes together to help the sisters getting the B&B back up and running. Loved the relationship of Gia and Mike. A wonderful book that I highly recommend.
“Forgive one another. Love one another. That is the lesson of the quilt. ”
-Grammy (Helen Chapman)
Vivid characters, powerful sister chemistry, and a mystical town named Moonglow Cove weave a spell that will draw you in as you get to know the Chapman sisters. Join this intriguing trio of sisters as they work their way through a difficult summer filled with forgiveness, healing, and second chances. Lori Wilde’s latest book is a story in which to immerse yourself.
Meet Madison, the eldest and a high power television celebrity; Shelley, the middle child and more adventuresome of the trio; and Gia, the youngest and most easygoing of the three. Their grandmother, Helen, raised the girls and continues to run the family inn even as she struggles with changes in her life. When a health crisis brings the girls back to Moonglow, their sisterly split of five years requires work on all of their parts to do the best thing for Grammy and themselves.
A delightful spring read to get you thinking about summer! As each sister works her way through the summer dealing with her own personal issues, each finds new possibilities for the future. The ending is perfect. A delightful contemporary romance!

Two of the Clark sisters left Moonglow Cove, Texas, after the Incident with Raoul. Now five years have passed and Grammy is having surgery and has written a little to Gia, the peacemaker, to get the sisters back together and to finish the wedding quilt. All the sisters have secrets. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say this is one of my favorite reads this year. Grab your copy and see what Madison, Shelley, and Gia are hiding. If you love reading a book about forgiveness with family at the center of it, you won’t be disappointed with this book. I loved how the community came together to help, when it was especially needed. Just wait until you find out what Gia does that shocks Madison and Shelley and really opens their eyes.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
“The Moonglow Sisters” by Lori Wilde is a story of healing and love between family.
Gia, the youngest Clark sister, is tasked by her grandmother to bring her sisters home to Moonglow Cove and to finish the wedding quilt.
Madison, the oldest, tries to control everything and everyone, something she believed she had to do after the loss of their parents when they were children.
And Shelley, the middle sister, fled Moonglow Cove five years before, taking secrets with her.
“The Moonglow Sisters” is raw, emotional, and helps us understand the true meaning of love and acceptance.
I’ve always loved Lori Wilde’s cowboy romances and had high expectations for The Moonglow Sisters. This book is more Women’s Literature than vs. Wilde’s normal genre. She has made the transition with grace and elegance. This story of women trying to repair the ripped basis of their family is engaging and emotionally charged as falsehoods and truths are brought to light.
I loved and connected with every single character in the story and cheered as each came into their own. Wilde has shown the heartache of a family torn apart, the struggles and the joys and love that is possible when members come together for the good of the family. The Moonglow Sisters is a beautifully written book.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. All thoughts are my own.
If you have sisters, you will totally relate to this engrossing story of how three sisters navigate the path to healing after secrets and betrayals between them. Is there anything that can break the bond? The Moonglow sisters come pretty close. There is quilting involved, too. And kites. And a coastal inn. Great read!
