This is a good book. Not like other books Blair has wrote but that doesn’t change how great she writes.
Angel Day is a sniper for the police department on hand when interrogations done go so well. Most of the time when you kill someone you get in trouble but she gets praised.
She finds herself having to do some unusual tactics when family gets stuck in the middle of a negotiation and she has to find a way for them to come out alive.
If there are sequels to this book I would read them in a heart beat.
In Angel of Death Ms. Babylon takes a break from her usual writing style and gives us a first rate thriller. This book was a thrill ride from the very beginning. The characters were very realistic. Angel Day is a sniper for the Phoenix PD when she gets sent down with her close knit team to Southern Arizona on a case of suspected terrorists. You really need to read this book before it’s gone as Ms. Babylon goes above and beyond in the attention to details that she put in this book. You actually feel like you’re there watching it as it unfolds. Ms.Babylon truly has a gift for storytelling that I’m very glad she shares w/us. I was given an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I would definitely recommend this book!ngel of Death Ms. Babylon takes a break from her usual writing style and gives us a first rate thriller. This book was a thrill ride from the very beginning. This is such a good story! It is different than anything I’ve read from this author. This, along with other stories I’ve read by her, have me convinced that Ms. Babylon can write in pretty much any genre. The story is fast-paced, well-written, and attention grabbing. There was action, suspense, and drama that had me glued to the pages. I didn’t want to put it down. The Angel of Death is one I would definitely recommend. I can’t wait to read the next Angel Day novel.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
Wow!
I have to be honest; I wasn’t sure about this one going in. I love Blair Babylon’s writing but as someone who pretty much only reads books that have at least a little romance in them I wasn’t really sure I wanted to read Angel of Death. But I was offered an ARC so I thought – “this is Blair, you love her books so why not give it a try?” Boy am I glad I did.
This book has a little bit of everything – action, suspense and humor. I read sections of the book out loud to my hubby and he was suitably impressed and laughed as much as I did in places.
The writing style is classic Blair Babylon. She always challenges my vocabulary and makes me very glad that I read digital books because it is so easy to look up words, or other stuff, that I’m not quite sure of.
If you are looking for a gripping story, that will keep you glued to the pages from start to finish, don’t hesitate to pick this one up.
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
This was not the typical book from Ms. Babylon but it was such a great read. This suspenseful read was well written with a lot of detail into the story. Angel was a great character and was put in such a difficult position throughout this book and made it through to the other side. I was hooked from the beginning and could not get enough of it once I started reading it as this was such a great story. I would recommend this book to others and look forward to more in this series.
I’m giving this book 5 stars despite a number of issues that might cause a lower rating, because the writing and the plot compensate for any negatives. The characters and plot are very different from anything I’ve read from this author and I was a bit surprised. I was not surprised by her ability to create sympathetic and relatable characters and a suspenseful, engrossing plot. I learned way more about sniping than I ever imagined I’d want to know, but I found it incredibly interesting.
The voice sometimes changed in inexplicable and somewhat confusing ways. The story was told mostly in third person from Angel’s POV, but then it would shift to first person from some other character’s POV. Every time that happened, I was pulled from the story to regain my bearings. I also found the ending sudden and incomplete, but not like a cliffhanger. It was more like I just didn’t know what happened because it simply ended. Sure, there will be follow up stories, and of course I’ll wasn’t to read them, but the ending didn’t make me anticipate the next installment. It made me scratch my head and think, huh.
I have read many books by this author and with that said this book truly blew me away.
In this story, we have Angel who is the sniper for the Phoenix PD. She doesn’t really take orders and most of her family in some form is in law enforcement. She and her team and sent out on a mission and this mission is one hell of a rollercoaster ride.
To sum it up: Emotional, Action-Packed, Suspenseful and gripping.
Honestly, how do I begin writing this review? To be honest, I struggled to get into this book the first 2 chapters. From page one, it went from zero to hero and included a lot of technical specifics of being a sniper as well as jargon and their definitions. I felt like it started out by jumping into the deep end. Where was the walk through the shallow end, slowly wading deeper into the storyline? I have read every single one of author Blair Babylon’s books and have absolutely loved each one. I knew that I needed to continue wading deeper into this story–that Ms Babylon wouldn’t let me down. Holy mackerel am I glad that I kept reading! What an insanely powerful book! What I initially mistook as moving from zero to hero really WAS the gentle walk through the shallow end of this story. Meticulous detail and imagery the reader can practically feel and taste; a fresh and bold new plot concept; and immensely strong character development easily made this book my favorite book of 2019 so far. I think this book may only get toppled from the number one spot if the author turns this into a series. It is simply that good. “The Angel of Death” is a pure adrenaline rush from start to finish. My mind is blown… but thankfully I am still cognizant enough to beg you to read this book right now. Prepare to have your mind blown, too!
I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait to see if there will be more in this series. This is outside of the norm for Blair but the writing and interaction is so good that you do not realize it. This book immediately draws you in and makes you wonder about everyone’s motivation on how they act.
An Excellent Suspense Filled Police Procedural Thriller!!
This is a true nail biting read that you just can’t put down!!
Angel Day aka the ‘Angel of Death’ is an ex elite FBI Sniper & Agent. She’s extremely good at what she does & earned her moniker on her first Sniper mission for the FBI!! She has since moved back to Arizona to work under one of her many Cousins, Tony, her Captain. She comes from a huge extended family & has 3 siblings of her own. Angel heads Tony’s Special Assault Unit’s sniper team. She’s as settled as she’s been for years, has great friends & work colleagues, her own home and her dog, Karyoke.
She’s ordered down to a small town close to the US – Mexican border, with her team & others from their SAU unit. They have a siege situation at a small ranch house, an officer was shot & injured & his horse killed. Now the inhabitants are refusing to come out or communicate, so Angel & her team of snipers & their spotters, need to make their way into position so that law enforcement has ‘eyes on’ the target area!!
From there things go from bad to full on ‘fubar’!! Angel is left scrambling trying to stop a massacre!
I really hope the Author decides to finish writing this series, it genuinely deserves it!! She has a real knack for drawing you in & keeping you on the edge of your seat with her writing & storytelling abilities!! I 100% recommend this cracking read
