I’ve been wanting to read many of this author’s books because they’re all so gorgeous.
This one is just a quick read, under 2 hours. It’s got some great world-building, fun characters, a brewing war, real love (familial), instalove, heat … as you can see it manages to pack in a lot.
I’m not sure whether the author has more plans for this world, but it left me wanting more so I hope so.
Plausibility was a small issue for me once or twice, but overall it worked well. Will definitely read more from this author. There was a little twist that, though I saw coming, was still quote fun.
3.5 stars
Note:
I read the audiobook. Narrator has a very pleasant, smooth voice and I’ll be seeking more out from her. A 5-star performance.
This is a short book, a quick read about the trials and tribulations of being a queen, a mother, and a lonely woman. There are a lot of questions left unanswered, but if you just read for the storyline, it’s enjoyable to see how Neive deals with her roles of conflicting goals and duties.
Good story but nothing exceptional. Sweet romance and some drama. Not enough to want to read the series though.
Frost’s Forfeit by Laura Greenwood is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Keira Stevens.
I just love Laura’s books! They always leave me begging for more. This book is a stand-alone that is set in the Paranormal Council Universe and is a prequel to Saving Eira. I listened to this after Saving Eira and still really enjoyed getting the back story.
Keira did an amazing job on the narration. I absolutely love her voice!
This could be a great prequel to what I can imagine to be a unique and entertaining series to listen to if the author wants to continue on with this story (hint). Narration was done very well with just the right amount of emotion when needed.
The Winter Fae Queen Neives has been bringing the winter element around for some time. She was also mated at one time and her mate left her. He was not her soulmate, but for this union she has a child. She is trying to shelter her daughter because there has been recent events to suggest someone is trying to kill the queen or her daughter. Then here comes Jack who she cannot get a read on to see if he is paranormal or just human. She does feel comfortable around him and tries to brush off her feelings. Then something big happens that I did not see coming. I still wonder if she made the right choice. Its a short story to read, so it gets to the point real fast.
this is wonderful tale, original and beautifully written. there was a serene quality to it that wrapped around you and kept you engrossed.
loved it.
It took me a little while to settle to Keira Steven’s voice. The narration seemed a little stilted to start with but then relaxed and flowed beautifully becoming stilted again right at the end. It really didn’t do anything to pull me out of the story though.
This was an enjoyable short story which I would guess sets things up for the actual series (which I am looking forward to listening to). It gives quite a lot of information about the world and the characters in it and builds it quite nicely without being overwhelming. When the punchline of the story dawned on me it really made me chuckle and I spent the rest of it waiting for that to happen. Which, again, didn’t at all detract from the story. I enjoyed seeing how it was brought about.
I was a little lost at first but loved how she was able to bring her daughter home and find her mate. This was a very emotional short story and really got to me with the intrigue and love. I was surprised at the ending but glad there was still a HEA.

This is the prequel to Saving Eira. I like this short and beautifully written paranormal fantasy romance. Now, I’m looking forward for he next book in the Series. Keira Stevens did a great narration.

Summer wants to go to war. Winter just wants to protect her people and her family.
This is a prequel story to the author’s Jack Frost series and as such needs no background. If you have read some of the later stories, than this would be a reunion rather than an introduction, but it works either way.
The story is a paranormal romance set in the fae courts. Like all of the author’s works that I have read, there is magic, danger, intrigue and romance all mixed together. The story is very well written and the characters are very engaging, helping to draw you into the story. This is also a short read, easily accomplished in an evening. If you have read any of the author’s other stories, you know what to expect and will enjoy this entry. If you are new, then this is the perfect opportunity to explore something new.
Highly recommended.

How to prevent the Queen of the Summer Fae to give up on a war with the Queen of the Winter Fae….
Nieves, Fae Queen of Winter, really does not want to go to war. She wants to protect her daughter, spend time with her mate Jack, and keep her people safe.
Together with Jack she develops a plan and hopes it will work out for the best.
The story is a nice mix of fantasy and romance, and it explains how Jack Frost and his descendants became the bringer of winter. Loved the story line.

Frost’s Forfeit is a quick, entertaining story and a twist on the tale of Jack Frost. The characters are interesting, fun and well developed and I am looking forward to reading Saving Eira.
love is often complicated – especially so when it involves royalty – and more so when magic is involved
Nieves asserts that duty and motherhood are often incompatible – especially for a queen. She misses being with her own infant daughter for at least part of the year, in an effort to keep her daughter safe.
In a matrilineal world, it is the position and power of the females that denotes authority and rules – and kidnapping men is one of the rules in the society that Nieves is a part of.
Sadly for her, and her new beau, her Summer Court counterpart Augusta is on a mission to destroy her and her daughter – which would leave the world dry and the harvests thin, without the refreshing damps of all the changing seasons. Nieves respects the necessity for the balance of the seasons.
Can Nieves and her love Jack find a compromise for an attempt by Augusta to destroy her?
Maybe – if they love, trust and work together.
Another tale of Jack Frost.

After reading Saving Eira, Frost’s Forfeit is interesting. It was such a cute read and one you should definitely read, ties in nicely with the rest of the whole series, even tho it’s a prequel, still goes with the Paranmoral Council, which is also a fantastic collection of books. Highly recommend this book and has a great HEA!

On the brink of war, the Fae of Winter must figure a way to stop the Summer Fae and keep her people safe. The solution is what this story is about one thing I will say that the last chapter will break your heart. This beautifully written fantasy was a joy to read and I look forward to the next book. I highly recommend this book it was good. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
