Pregnant and alone. That’s not how I expected to end up after high school. Jake wants me back. But I don’t want that toxic relationship. We aren’t good together and this baby isn’t the reason we should work things out. Between work and school, I barely have time to figure out what I want to do. That is until I’m paired up with a hot guy in class for a project. He’s slowly working his way into my … slowly working his way into my heart. But, I’m pregnant and trying to adjust to my new life. How can he actually be interested in me?
With Jake home from college, he’s doubling his efforts. Especially now that he sees me with Reaf.
I have decisions to make…and it’s not just about me anymore.

Being included in the pregnancy and all accompanying emotions of the 18-year-old Tonya.
Nicely written and realistic, that’s how it felt to me.
Break up at 18 when your high school boyfriend becomes less and less nice to you and find out a month later that he got you pregnant. Tonya faces the difficult choice to tell Jake about this but also to let him know that you don’t want to go back to a relationship. Jake lets her know it’s not over yet.
Instead of going to a university, she goes to the local community college. There she meets Reaf, who becomes her support during her pregnancy
I have never been pregnant myself but have seen and experienced enough women around me when they were pregnant. The hormones make them react more emotionally than usual. But Tonya was described very emotionally and everything was thrown on hormones. Too bad because in my eyes she sometimes came across as weak.
I thought Reaf had a nice role in this story. He saw her as the beautiful girl she was and not a lost daughter because she got pregnant at a young age. He comes across as sensitive and heart-warming.
And with parents like Lucia and Jason every child can be happy, pregnant or not.

Life can be messy an complicated..

To some people I was just another bad example a reckless fool; and another statistic.
However to my family I’m still their kid who just happened to figure out a few things a little to late.
Like the fact the guy I once thought hung the moon had slowly but surely turned into someone I didn’t want to be with anymore.
And yes I know I really don’t have a single clue about what I’ve signed up for; yet I’m still determined to make this work.
Then of course my ex-boyfriend unfortunately gets a clue to my present situation and has the world’s dumbest of dumb ideas she’d ever heard.
Nope she wasn’t about to add salt to and open wound; but she wasn’t changing her mind.
So with a few well thought out plans in place;Tonya got busy moving forward because her world wasn’t waiting for her to catch up.
Now the one thing she never saw coming also was the last complication she needed in her life and his name was Reaf.
Yet once she really looked past her first initial impression of him; she found herself gravitating more towards him.
But like a bad rash my ex-boyfriend insisted on making his voice heard even when he doesn’t listen to mine.
To bad there are no instructions manuals or even cheat sheets on life but I’ve known for a long time just who belongs by my side.

Couldn’t put it down.
This is a debut novel from this author, and she has certainly done herself proud! Tonya has her whole life in front of her when she finds out she is pregnant. I loved how her bestie and mom supported her throughout, and I was certainly not a fan of her ex, although he did redeem himself along the way. Reaf was great and he just wanted to keep Tonya safe and protect her while accepting the baby as his own. This is a beautifully story which had me hooked and intrigued throughout, but the only problem I had was the story was a tad choppy to start with. I look forward to reading more from this author.
Teen age pregnancy is not a subject to make light of and this author gives us a sweet YA romance. It’s a coming of age story for a young lady who not only sees her dreams alter but also has to make the tough choices. The best part is she has support. There’s no real drama per se it’s more a story of growth and hormones and growing up. It’s an easy read and an introduction to the series that has other characters and more of her later. I happen to know this because I read it out of order, that just lets you know this is a standalone series with carry over characters. It is also a clean read which is awesome seeing the topic and the results, for those teens you may have. I really enjoyed it even though I am not big on teen angst and with her hormones out of wack there was plenty of that. Can’t wait to read more of the series.
I received this book in exchange of a review. I usually don’t pay attention to the reviews a book has before reading it and in this case I read them and I must admit I don’t agree with most.
I really loved this story, maybe because I can relate to it, since I got pregnant with my daughter by my first boyfriend while I was 19. I also found true love in another person some years after.
I think the author focused on her life as a young adult while being pregnant, not the struggles of the pregnancy. Tonya was very matured, deciding to still go to school and live her life. Just cause you’re expecting doesn’t mean your life has to end. She tackled everything that came her way, school, work and took a chance at love. Also she has amazing people surrounding her.
Reaf is adorable. He’s a gentlemen, sweet, loving and caring. He takes his time and respects the fact she’ll be a mom soon and chooses to be part of their life.
I also agree you don’t have to be with someone you don’t love just because your having a baby together. At the end it’ll be more benefitial to that baby instead of growing in a home were no one is happy.
Congratulations on your first book Katrina. Looking forward to read more of your work in the future. Maybe a little more on T and Reaf’s life years from now.
Really enjoyed reading this book.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, IT DID. This book, ugh, it was just so amazing. Poor Tonya thought her world had really started to change for the worse and she was swept off her feet by Reaf. This really made me wish I had a Reaf in my life, he’s so amazing. This book had everything that someone could ever want in a book, it had an awkward situation, a great love story, some angst, happy moments, sad moments, it had it all. I really love how Katrina was able to turn a not so great situation into something for the better. Being 18 and pregnant would be really hard, but Tonya had the best people in her life and such a great support system. I also really love how art and music played such a big roll and her and Reaf’s lives, because that is very real in a young persons life. I really hope t see them in a mother book one day!
This book was a great read! I adored Tonya’s family and how they were so supportive of her decision and helped her with her baby! I agree that just because you’re having a baby doesn’t mean you have to stay with that person anymore. That’s not a healthy relationship and I’m glad Tonya was able to find a good guy like Reaf! This book did not disappoint, I definitely recommend reading it!
So i had heard amazing things about this book from all my book friends and boy, were they right! It was soooo good. It was a quick read for me since its less than 200 pages. I enjoyed all of the characters! Reaf has my heart tho. The man makes me swoon!! How he is with Tonya just warms my heart. He does treat her differently just because she’s pregnant. He sees her for her. Jake i disliked from the beginning with his attitude and everything. The jerk. And Cami, goodness, i love that girl so hard! This was my first book by katrina and i can wait to read the next one!!!
This story, is so relateable from the very start. I love how close to home it hits and doesn’t hold back.
The writing honestly pulls you in and captivates you. Keeping you in the story.
I love how real all the emotions from everyone feel, and come out through the words.
I really like how her mom is there for her, from start to finish. But at the same time she tries to push her to not just sit around and hide from the world, but to get out there and still be young and do things, becaise she may have done something and is now seeing the “consiqueses” so to say she’s still young and shes still doing a good job staying on the right path.
I lovehow no matter what she wants to keep things slow. Its such an up beat and amazing story. I think its definitely something to take and make you cry happy tears and just enjoy.
Tonya and Jake break up after high school, but she finds out shortly after, that she is pregnant. Determined to build a good life for her and the baby, she finds work and starts college. Through a class, Reaf becomes a friend who listens and cares. He even wants more – to be a father to her baby. Her ex also shows back up to stir the pot of decisions she needs to make. Her mom is the queen of throwing parties, like New Years. Her gram is a sweetheart. Reaf is the dream – kind, supportive, loving, thoughtful, strong and determined. Just what she needs. Well done.
