This book is superb. Shriver teaches all of us in the graduate program of life to seek meaning through the joy of following your heart. Just the kind of advice a heart surgeon cherishes.
In I’ve Been Thinking… Shriver serves up golden nuggets of wisdom, honesty, and inspiration that take us out of our individual worlds and connects us to what’s important, true, and meaningful in the journey of being human.
Maria Shriver is a person of unusual compassion, intelligence, and honor. If you want to feel uplifted, inspired, and comforted, read it. This book, like its author, is a precious gift to the world.

This book will fill up your inspirational tank until it overflows! Essential for anyone needing to restore peace, purpose, and passion.
Very easy to read and understand. I also like the short chapters for my morning devotional reading. Highly recommend.
Maria Shriver has written on the wisdom and compassion she has accrued through her journey of life Three quotes resonate strongly in this healing work Failure is not fatal but failure to change might be by John Wooden Gratitude is a flower that blooms in noble souls by Pope Francis and If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other by Mother Teresa of Calcutta what wonderful ideas to live by
I would like to thank the author, Maria Shriver, for sharing herself with us.
This is a book that you can read over and over again and learn something new each time.
A strong woman who has lived much of her life in the public eye, the former First Lady of California and mother of four shares her spiritual values and her personal life experiences as she turns sixty. I especially appreciated the prayer shared at the end of each chapter as we are all in this complex and beautiful world together.
Similar to a devotional, nice book to keep on the bedside table to read a selection before sleeping.
Thought provoking and calming read!
I should start by saying this isn’t a book I would normally pick up (I’m generally not a self-help kind of girl). However, I had the opportunity to interview Ms. Shriver for a magazine article and read the book as part of my prep. Frankly, to say I was moved by this book would be an understatement. I cried. I laughed. I put the book down to think. I discussed some of the topics with my kids. I found her lessons and her stories not only relatable but inspirational and honest. Reading this book reminded me how important it is not to put limits on what we read. If I had stuck to “my genre” or not been open to something new, I would have missed this gem of a book.
