So great. Love Dimitri.
I have read this book multiple times and am surprised to find I’ve never written a review for it, better late than never?
In my opinion, the 10 year anniversary edition is the one to read, just because of the additional short stories at the end. We get the story if 9 year old Christian living through the turning of his parents, an inside look at Lissa’s feelings through her personal diary, a student’s tradition scavenger hunt at St. Vlad’s, the capture of Rose and Lissa from Dimitri’s mind, and the original book one of the series.
The story itself has always amazed me and kept me interested me time and time again. Rose with her undying loyal, but also wild and careless. Dimitri always putting himself last in everything. Lissa trying to look out for everyone. The characters are just amazing. I always like having good and bad of them. The magic use gave them another way to expand the story of the Moroi. This whole series was exceptional as far as I’m concerned. Highly RECOMMENDED
Richelle Mead is a very accomplished writer. I make a point of reading everything she writes!
A fangtastic read!
They become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals…
It has been a long time since I reread this book. It’s been more amazing than I remember. Enjoyed the anniversary edition because of the extra content.
Our heroine is still as bada** as ever. Even more so than I remember.
Reading this book after so many years feels like I’m coming home – I read it first as a teen and now as an adult.
Full of forbidden love, loyalty, friendship, moroi, blood, guardians, action, politics and danger.
Perfect for readers of paranormal romances.
Bonus story #1
A deeper look into the dark stain on the Ozera dynasty…
This is where it all started…where the journey started. The loss. The pain. Wow…I felt it all.
I’m so happy we got a small glimpse of how it happened, of how she started learning to defend and train…
Bonus story #2
A glimpse into the princess’s point of view from a certain period of her life…
Certain events in book 1 we get to see it from the princess’s point of view. Told in diary entries. It was interesting getting into her head and experiencing it directly from her – rather than through their bond.
Bonus story #3
Their first meeting through his eyes…
I remember reading this bonus scene a long time ago (can’t remember where though – either the author’s, publisher’s or the VA site).
I loved this little glimpse from his point of view. Would have liked it a bit longer.
Bonus story #4
They become unlikely teammates in a high-stakes scavenger hunt..
Out of all the bonus stories, this is the best and my favourite. I loved seeing them and their shenanigans. How he helped her.
Oh how…this was such a joyous read for me – a nice little break with just some pure fun.
Got this book years ago at Ollie’s and read it as soon as I got home. Finished it within the night, it was captivating! The next day I told my Dad and he ordered me the whole series on thriftbooks. Now I’m into all of Richelle Mead’s series. Definitely recommend this!
