From the very first page Last Chance pulled me in and had addicted to it’s beautifully crafted words, it was unputdownable! These characters were amazing, their chemistry palpable from their first interaction, and it just continued to intensify with every page that followed… they brought lots of steam to the pages!! This was quite an enjoyable read, it had touches of suspense, sports, drama, and of course the good stuff… heat! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it’s endearing characters are certain to charm their way into your heart and leave it forever moved!

I’ve read this book multiple times as well Second Chances Series as a whole but I’ve never actually gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the chemistry between Lara and Luke. I know that Luke hurt Lara but I felt sorry for him multiple times throughout this book as Lara never gave him a chance to apologise during the year since he’d royally screwed things up after their one night together as he ran from what he felt for her as they scared him. Her and Grayson end up together and have been dating for a year so Grayson decides to propose to her in front of all their fiends and family at their restaurant the Carolina Tavern. She realises that he’s planning on proposing but hopes she’s wrong since she’s not ready for marriage but as he pops the question she looks out to the crowd and notices that her and Evan are the only ones who don’t seem happy. Evan had to tell Luke earlier that day that he’s too late to get her back as Grayson’s planning on proposing to her at her surprise party tonight and Luke asked him to really look at her when Grayson asks her, as he can’t be the only one that sees that she isn’t fully happy so Evan does what Luke asked him finally saw through her mask. Lara knows that even if she’s not ready for marriage she can’t hurt Grayson like that so she says that she’ll marry him.
The next day Evan goes to see Luke and Luke’s pretty angry with him for not getting back to him and he understands that he obviously didn’t see that she wasn’t happy and that she said yes but Evan tells him that even though she said yes he could see what Luke sees so he’s going to try and talk to Lara but there’s no guarantee that she’ll listen. Evan talks to her and she decides that she still loves Luke so she ends it with Grayson before calling Luke on the way to his house saying that she’s sorry that it’s taken her so long but she’s ended it with Grayson and she wants to be with him, he tells her that he loves her before she’s in a car accident and he hears the whole thing before the phone cuts off. For two weeks Luke has sat at her bedside, during his allocated times that is since there’s so much tension between him and Grayson so Summer suggested a visitation schedule. Luke has felt like something is wrong but it isn’t until she finally wakes up that he finds out why he’s felt that way as she can’t remember anything from the last 5 years as she retrograde amnesia, meaning that she doesn’t even remember him let alone that she loves him.
Grayson makes matters worse when he tells Lara that he’s her fiancé and Luke asks him if they’re still engaged then where’s her ring. Summer tells Lara about her past with Luke and that her and Grayson have been in a relationship for the last year and recently got engaged but since they’re both saying conflicting things Lara needs to spend time with both of them to decide who she wants to be with but it’s obvious throughout this book that Summer is definitely team Grayson. I’m glad that Luke decided to be a better man than he was when he was trying to win Kate over when him and Cooper both liked her and decided to be completely honest with Lara about their past no matter how bad it was, it totally made up my mind that Luke was the right choice for her. Team Luke all the way.
When it was obvious that Lara was leaning towards Luke, Summer kept on telling her to spend some time with Grayson as it’s only fair. When Lara finally realised that Luke was her choice it turned to sh*t pretty quickly when Skylar the jealous b*tch tried to break them apart by making Lara think that they’d sl*pt together. Skylar also dr*gged the shot she gave Luke to make him pass out. I completely understand that Lara was upset with Luke but it annoyed me that she ran away without even giving him a piece of her mind especially after he’d just finished telling her that he never slept with any of the women he used to make her jealous over the year while he was trying to get her back when she was with Grayson and how much he loves her, you think she would but then she has a brain injury so she can be forgiven for being messed up. I’m glad that Evan believed Luke when he told him that he thinks that he was dr*gged and that he would never cheat on Lara so Evan took him to Kate’s so she can do a dr*g test so he’ll have the proof he needs to make Lara listen to him as she’ll just think he’s making an excuse without any proof to back up his claim. This book was definitely a roller coaster ride on my emotions so be warned. I’m really looking forward to reading Jax’s book next to see him find his redemption. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to anyone who likes suspenseful, steamy romances with Happily ever afters.
