For Kira Solomon, normal was never an option. Kira’s day job is as an antiquities expert, but her true calling is as a Shadowchaser. Trained from youth to be one of the most lethal Chasers in existence, Kira serves the Gilead Commission, dispatching the Fallen who sow discord and chaos. Of course, sometimes Gilead bureaucracy is as much a thorn in her side as anything the Fallen can muster … the Fallen can muster against her. Right now, though, she’s got a bigger problem. Someone is turning the city of Atlanta upside down in search of a millennia-old Egyptian dagger that just happens to have fallen into Kira’s hands.
Then there’s Khefar, the dagger’s true owner — a near-immortal 4,000-year-old Nubian warrior who, Kira has to admit, looks pretty fine for his age. Joining forces is the only way to keep the weapon safe from the sinister Shadow forces, but now Kira is in deep with someone who holds more secrets than she does, the one person who knows just how treacherous this fight is. Because every step closer to destroying the enemy is a step closer to losing herself to Shadow forever….

I don’t normally read urban fantasy, but when one of my readers raved about Shadow Blade, I knew I had to try and I’m so glad I did. Seressia Glass created an incredibly layered, textured world with fascinating, strong, heroic characters. Shadow Glass was such a pleasure to read and I definitely recommend to others looking for a new urban fantasy series to binge!
Great characters, amazing world-building, and a series starter that rivals The Dresden Files. SO GOOD!
I’m a slow reader and really struggle with that, especially since so many of my friends are authors and I always want to be reading and supporting all of their work. But the Shadowchaser series always helps me forget my frustrations as a slow reader and I just enjoy the ride. I’ve been a fan of this series from the start (SHADOW BLADE), and it just keeps getting better. I love how Glass brings Egyptian lore to life, in such a dynamic way, nobody does it better. Kira is one of my favorite urban fantasy heroines, and her and Khefar are SO great together, what a team, I’ve loved watching their arcs build deliciously through the series. The use of Kira’s powerful internal conflict, Shadow versus Shadow, how she uses the dangerous force she’s trained to wield, compellingly comes to the fore in this book. The unpredictability of Kira’s magic and how she handles it makes me all the more invested in her, her journey and everything that drives her. Here’s to the next one, I can’t wait to return!
Oh, but how I LOVE “meeting” a new-to-me urban fantasy series with a kickass heroine and the hero who just gets hotter by the page. Glass’s book introduces me to old gods in new ways and I get the joy of digging in for more books in this universe.
I just finished reading this book and I thought it was really fun! Not my usual genre, but it’s fast-paced and the love interest is a total hottie (I never thought myself attracted to 4000-year-old immortal warriors, but there ya go). The world-building is great and easy to understand with lots of moral messages, and best part: it’s on sale for $.99 for US readers! Grab a copy as soon as you can!
I loved that Kira not only had a super cool magical ability, but that she was capable of kicking butt without it. I thought all the Egyptian mythology and history was new and different from the Greek and Roman mythology books I’ve been reading. As someone who loves the romance, I was instantly intrigued by Kira and Khefars spark and look forward to more of them in future books!
I loved Shadow Blade. What a way to start a series! I ordered book 2 as soon as I finished. A beautifully written urban fantasy, blending modern day Atlanta and ancient Egyptian myth and legend. I was absorbed into the Shadowchaser Kira Soloman’s world. I don’t want to give anything away, but there are thrills, drama, a little humor, suspense, and a hint of romance…this book has it all! I highly recommend Shadow Blade by Seressia Glass.
