THE DEAD WOMAN WORE RED… Gossip columnist Ethel Lambston knew everything about everybody who was somebody—so there were more than enough suspects in her murder. But for Neeve Kearny, owner of an expensive Madison Avenue boutique, the killing of one of her best customers had eerie echoes of another death that occurred many years earlier—the murder of her own mother. Suddenly, Neeve is … plunged into the mystery of Ethel Lambston’s murder, following a trail that leads from the glittering pleasure palaces of New York’s rich and beautiful to the Mafia underworld. I thought this book was amazing. I could not put it down it kept my attention from the first page all the way to the last page. Full of suspense but not quite enough info to let you know what was going to happen next.
Best author!
Most of her books are written with the same story style, almost all with similar endings but I like them. I’ve read all of her books and have several of them.
Love her books!
New York and the rag trade are backdrops to this murder yarn that keeps you turning the page and engrossed in the mystery to the last page.
Read this quite a while ago, very exciting and well written.
As usual Clark writes another page turner.
As with all Mary Higgins Clark’s book I enjoyed every page of it. Always find her characters wonderful and relatable. Her books are easy too read and a good “who done it”. Always keep me up reading late into the night.
Mrs Clark is a wonderful author. She is very good at weaving murder and romance.
Another chilling and thrilling mystery done perfectly by Ms. Higgins! Highly recommend!
One of my favorite easy to read authors…I always look forward to the next book..
A quick read, kept my attention the whole time
While My Pretty One Sleeps isn’t the best book I have ever read by Mary Higgins Clark, but it was a good mystery. A story about the murder of a gossip columnist who often wrote about fashion boutiques, and sometimes included less-than-flattering comments about them and their owners, the plot involves a close friend of the victim who tries to help solve the crime, putting her own life in danger in the process. In the typical Clark tradition, the story features suspenseful and surprising twists and turns, lots of suspects who have a variety of motives, some romance, and a chilling climax in which the protagonist must outwit the killer to keep from becoming his—or her—next victim! I am glad that she wrote better books than this one, but it is an enjoyable, suspenseful mystery her fans will love!
