From the limitless imagination of New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julie Kagawa, return to the world of The Iron Fey. Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner of the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron … the Iron Fey–ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan’s own fey powers have been cut off. She’s stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can’t help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

4 out of 5 stars! Okay … it had a slow start but I really enjoyed it in the end. All-in-all Ash threw me for a loop with everything he did in this book. And with all the new things happening to Meghan I cannot wait to see what will happen in book 3!!! Poor Puck — that guy seems to always get the short end of the stick. =0( BTW — I love Ethan he’s soo sweet!

The Iron Daughter is the second book in the Iron Fey series. I love the concept of this book and the series as a whole. But I kinda got bored with this book.
Meghan goes with Ash to the Winter Court, as promised in the first book. The romance between them is blossoming. But he explains to her that winter and summer fey cannot be together- its against the law. If they were to continue their relationship, at best they would be banished. He is very cold toward her at court and she doubts that he ever had feelings for her at all. While in court, she is basically a prisoner of the winter queen. When war breaks out between the Winter and Summer fey, she knows it is really the iron fey that are the enemy but no one will listen to her. Its up to her to prove that she is right and save all the world!
Once again, I didn’t love this book so I would recommend with reservation.
I liked The Iron King but found Meghan to be annoyingly naive and ignorant. As the story progressed, my opinion of her changed a little until she blindly and stupidly falls in love with someone she barely even knows and doesn’t exactly treat her well.
Book 2, Meghan no longer has the excuse of not knowing things about the Fae world to be so ignorant. Yes, she’s still new and finding her footing but a lot of her mistakes could’ve been avoided had she used a TEENY TINY bit of common sense.
A lot of her inner dialogue really REALLY bugged me. Especially when it came to Ash. Dude literally told her that he was going to be different when they were in the ice court and stupid Meghan repeatedly gets her feelings hurt because she can’t and won’t understand what was spelled out for her by Ash.
It was nice to see some of our old friends and enemies from the previous book. Grimalkin is always a hoot when he’s constantly saving their asses. Puck makes it through and shows up to save Meghan. Which brings up another point that really bugged me about Meghan. In her struggle with figuring out the things that Ash had warned her about, she starts to believe that “Ash doesn’t love her” and what does she do? She goes for the “next best thing” and totally wrecks things. In the end, things with Ash work out, I guess…but she gave zero shits about how much she hurt Puck.
Something cool that happened, even though things don’t happy a happy ending, was “our gang” teaming up with Ironhorse! I didn’t see that one coming. His role with their team, kind of sets things up for the changes that are coming for Meghan, even if no one else understood it.
I’ll probably continue the series in audiobook so that I can just ignore when Meghan is being stupid and not get so upset by it. But I really hope that the girl gets her act together…
Loved this! Meghan’s attitude and perseverance were fantastic, and I definitely fell in love with her. Very few cheesy moments, so I loved that.
Fabulous series. Love the characters. One of my favorite series.
When I came upon this series i wasn’t a huge fae lore fan. But I came in late to the series but luckily i was able to read them all back to back. I was not disappointed and i read them all in 10 days. novellas and all. (this was the first 4 books)
It made me a Julie K fan for life!
Absolutely loved this entire series. Julie Kagawa is a fantastically talented author!
