As a forty-one-year-old mother of three boys, working two jobs, Marya Berger doesn’t have the time or energy to consider a relationship. Especially after a lifetime of poor choices in the romance department. But when the disappearance of a young boy strikes a little too close to home, and a younger man she’s tried to ignore offers his help, she doesn’t stand in the way.Single father, Dylan … Dylan Barnes, the junior member of the La Plata County FBI team at thirty-three, has his focus firmly on his job and his son, Max. He’s certainly not looking to complicate his life, when he finds himself at his son’s soccer game, sitting beside the spirited brunette he can’t get out of his mind. Fate, however, appears to have different plans.
When an unspeakable crime draws the attention of the FBI, Dylan finds himself torn between his job and his instinctive need to protect Marya and her boys.

I’m finding a new favorite author in Freya Barker. Her writing style brings her characters to life from page one and it was easy to read this book straight through.
Dylan and Marya are both single parents struggling with the everyday of raising their kids on their own. Dylan, an FBI agent, was attracted to Marya from the first time he saw her at the coffee shop where she works but she always kept him at bay. When he realizes both their boys will be on the same soccer team, he grabs the opportunity to get to know her better. Despite her reservations over their age difference, she starts to let him into her life and before you know it, they become romantically involved.
The case Dylan is working on regarding the disappearance of two missing boys from the soccer league hits close to home and he tries to balance his job priorities with his new relationship with Marya. As evidence begins to point to Marya’s deadbeat ex husband, Dylan and his team go on full alert to solve the case and protect Marya and her boys. One of the things I love about this author is the realistic dialogue between the characters, which makes them much easier to relate to and makes the reader more vested in their story. This book was the perfect balance between romance and suspense and I highly recommend it.

What’s better than a single parent story – how about two single parents!! Add that the story is written by an author that just knows how to blend mature characters, suspense and smexy times in the best of ways. There is a predator in town and the FBI is hard at work. When a connection is found close to home, everyone becomes stressed. Being in a new relationship is hard, but with all the additional things against them can our couple find a HEA?
I loved this story and how wonderfully it came together. I was on the edge of my seat reading as all the pieces come together. Loved the epilogue!
10Code is action packed and full of action. The chemistry between Marya and Dylan was beautiful and sweet with lots of hot thrown in. This couple were believable and had me cheering them on from the start. The author had the characters of the teenage boys down perfectly. Between the oh shit moments and the awe moments I couldn’t put this book down. I highly recommend this book and series to all Romantic Suspense fans.
10 Code is book four in the Rock Point series, and although this is the story of Dylan and Marya’s book, all the familiar characters from the previous 3 books make 10-Code the perfect read. We’ve already met Dylan & Marya in the previous books and have had a small insight into their lives.
Dylan is a single dad of Max and Marya single mum to Theo, Liam & Harry.
The storyline covers subject matter that is very current and will resonate with anyone with children of their own.
The way Freya Barker builds a story, her layers of character development and her ability to build suspense, romance and a movie worthy story into her books never fails.
10-Code is yet another 5 star from Freya, but then, she’s never delivered a book that isn’t.
10-Code is Dylan and Marya’s story. Dylan is 38, single dad to his 11 year old boy, Max. Marya is 41, single mom to her 3 boys, Theo-13, Liam-11 and Harry-8.
Dylan is an FBI agent who has always noticed pretty Marya at the local book store/coffee shop. The perfect opportunity to get to know her better shows up when his son Max and her son Liam start soccer together. His first wife left him and Max and never looked back.
Marya’s husband bailed on her and the boys 5 years ago when he gets his girlfriend pregnant. He wanted nothing more to do with them since he was starting a new family. That changes when he calls up Marya out of the blue demanding to see his boys after 5 years of no contact.
While Dylan and Marya start off pretty innocently, things take a dark turn when a boy gets abducted. This hits pretty close to home since these two have boys of their own around the same age. Add in a troubling ex popping back into Marya’s life, these two have a lot going on while also building a new relationship.
I really love to read about single parents. It always warms my heart to see a blended family who become stronger despite not everyone being blood related. It just shows the capacity we have to love reaches farther than we expect at times.
Dylan was super protective of his family and Marya’s. Marya was a harder character to get to know. She’s tough cause she has had to be but she has strength where it matters. I very, much enjoyed getting to know these two families and was on the edge of my seat right there with them as they hunted for a predator.
As always, the writing was superb, the characters flawed in all the ways we can relate too, and I loved every minute of it.
Dylan and Marya both thought they had their lives on the right track, until the people they’d respectively chosen to live it with bailed, leaving them leery of risk and single parents.
Dylan, an FBI agent and dad to his eleven-year-old son, Max, is divorced after his now ex-wife abandoned both him and their son. It is what it is and he got Max out of it, so it was worth it in his opinion.
Marya is working two jobs to provide for herself and her three sons, Theo, age thirteen, Liam, eleven, and Harry, eight, since her now ex-husband not only cheated on her but got the woman pregnant as well.
Dylan has noticed Marya, of course, and while he’s interested, he isn’t sure she is. Marya can’t help but notice Dylan, but she’s so busy just trying to survive. Dylan sees his chance when their sons begin playing soccer together, and he isn’t going to waste it. However, Marya’s life just got even more complicated as her sons’ dad suddenly remembers they exist five years after walking out on them. Then danger hits too close to home when a young boy is abducted and Marya’s ex creates trouble.
Is the universe trying to tell them something? Are their own sons in danger? What does Marya’s ex-husband want? Is he connected to the disappearance or is it just a coincidence? Will they get another chance at finding true love?
One-click now and follow along as two people, both having been burnt by love before, must choose whether what they could have is worth the risk. I like that neither dwelled on their exes in the respect that it was as if there were still feelings on their part, other than disgust. Dylan seemed a bit more open as a character while Marya came off more guarded. I’m not sure if that was intentional because of the situation with which her former husband left, but I wish she would’ve been more readable. With that being said, this was a pleasant story overall and I’m glad they got the HEA they deserved.

As always Freya Barker has written a book that drew me in and made me live in the book.
Her characters Dylan 38 single dad to Max his 11 year old son , Max works for the FBI , well he meets Marya single mom she is 41 and she has 3 sons ages 13,11,and 8 .
These two are like everyday parents who have been left behind by the other parent.
Now abductions are happening and Dylan is not going to let anything happen to his and Marys kids.
10-Code is another well written romantic suspense by Freya Barker. The characters draw you into their world and keep the pages quickly turning until the HEA ending. It is difficult to not feel Marya’s emotions of being tired from raising three boys on her own, or leery of putting your heart on the line again, or the anguish in knowing children are disappearing and worrying over your own. Then there is Dylan, who is unable to be there all the time to protect her and her boys because of having a job to do finding a sexual predator. A must read if you love romance and suspense.

I’m a sucker for single parents, and this novel has easily reached my top spot! We first met Dylan Barnes and his son Max in Upper Hand from the Cedar Trees series. Now thirty-three and an FBI agent, it’s finally time for him to find his happy.
Dylan and Marya have crossed paths before, both in the coffee shop and through mutual friends. They have noticed one another before, however it isn’t until one of Marya’s three sons joins the same soccer team as Max, that they find themselves exchanging more than the regular pleasantries.
The connection between these two is sincere, though Marya tries to fight it for many reasons, specifically their age difference and her bad luck in love. However, it’s the common elements between the two that tip in their favor.
A great balance between suspense and romance. This heartwarming story will stay with you well after the last page.
OMG!! This is such a great story! Talk about suspenseful!! Not only is the plot gripping, but the swoon worthiness of Dylan whew- fanning myself! When he pulled Marya aside in the mine shaft, wowza!! It made me WEAK in the knees!
This book is about Marya a single mother of three boys doing what she can to survive. She lives one day at a time providing the best life she can for her boys.
Dylan is a hot FBI agent and single father working to make each day count.
Their relationship gains its momentum in the bleachers of their son’s soccer games. After wrangling her kids into the stadium she is one hot mess. No worries that the younger hunky hottie Dylan would be interested. Oh… but he is! She is even more beautiful and intriguing when she’s a hot mess. Dylan worms his way in when her guard is down. He is determined to make her see her beauty and worthiness with every cherished look, kiss, and caress.
These two are trying to find their footing through the trials and tribulations of a relationship when there are four children involved. Just when things are looking good, the resurfacing of nefarious manipulative exes and a horrible FBI case slam into their path.
But the plot thickens further when the unthinkable happens, every parent’s worst nightmare! Will Dylan be able to save the day? Or will this be it, pure utter devastation?
As always I can count on Freya Barker to deliver a thoroughly swoon worthy CAPTIVATING read. I loved every second of this story. It was well written with all the feels, suspense, steam, humor, love and an incredible plot. Thank you Freya for including more of my favorites; Ouray, Luna, Damian and Kerry! I highly recommend reading this book.
I read an arc of this book. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
