You could hear the voices murmuring, small and muted, from the crowds that inhabited his body.A peerless American storyteller, Ray Bradbury brings wonders alive. The Illustrated Man is classic Bradbury— eighteen startling visions of humankind’s destiny, unfolding across a canvas of decorated skin. In this phantasmagoric sideshow, living cities take their vengeance, technology awakens the most … awakens the most primal natural instincts, Martian invasions are foiled by the good life and the glad hand, and dreams are carried aloft in junkyard rockets. Provocative and powerful, Ray Bradbury’s The Illustrated Man is a kaleidoscopic blending of magic, imagination, and truth—as exhilarating as interplanetary travel, as maddening as a walk in a million-year rain, and as comforting as simple, familiar rituals on the last night of the world.

The Illustrated Man
If anyone enjoyed The Martian Chronicles and wants more Bradbury, I recommend this collection of his short stories, which includes one of my all-time favorites, “The Veldt” — a creepy tale about an automated house and a virtual reality room that becomes all too real.

Ray Bradbury’s use of language is inspiration to authors everywhere. Story’s like “the veldt” and “Kalediscope” have stuck with me in a haunting way both from the story’s themselves and the poetic language. Bradbury has to be one of my favorite authors.
I really enjoyed The Illustrated Man. The stories take place in the future but the situations and morals apply today. A lot of the stories morals are really eye opening and makes you think. They details and scenarios were so vivid that many stories that left me with goosebumps. This book is a “classic” that will always be applicable throughout …
The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury is a *classic* collection of short stories. They are part SF and part Horror. They are a little “pulpy” and remind me more than anything else of a collection of Twilight Zone episodes. The majority of these stories were rather dark. Some were beautiful (a rather sad sort of beautiful – “Kaleidoscope” is a good …
I was surprised by this book because I didn’t really have any expectations but this author is well known and this book was definitely not disappointing. He earned his kudos with this one
Classic Bradbury. Many really great short stories
This was one of my earliest introductions to Science Fiction. Over 30 years ago. I still reread several of the stories. It’s an excellent anthology. I regret that ‘The Playground’ is not part of this edition but it’s still strong.
Bradbury is overrated, as evidenced by the stories in this book.
It’s Ray Bradbury. What else needs to be said.
One of Bradbury’s best!
I hadn’t re-read this since I was a teenager, but enjoyed it so much. One of my students was reading it, so I jumped in. A delight of a set of stories and uniquely postmodern, in its own way.
By one of the masters of the Golden Age of Sci Fi, Mr. Bradbury, this is one of his best books, along with Something Wicked This Way Comes, The October Country and too many more to name. A wonderful writer who must not be missed if you want to be well read in Sci Fi.
This is a classic! A great read for every Bradbury fan.
This short story collection is masterful. You will never be bored. You will not skip lines. A great, engrossing read.
Classic SciFi
Bradbury is one of my favorite authors. He is a very imaginative storyteller.
This book is a collection of short stories woven around a heavily tatooed man. The stories are simply marvelous!
This is my all-time favorite science-fiction book. It’s amazing! Bradbury discussed issues that are so prevalent today, but did so far before they were issues.
