Book two in the (Un)Lucky Valley series a well written murder mystery that I found myself laughing at somethings that happen. I want to read more in this series. This is the Grand Opening of the Garden Gnome Bed-and-Breakfast and things are happening and Lily Goode will have her hands full trying to find out who the villain is. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is a fun book with disasters coming every which way. Nolan and Lily are trying to keep their heads above water and keep the B&B afloat. There’s drama, danger, suspense, and fun.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and gave my honest opinion.
Making roots
Oh my! Aunt Polly is as hilarious as ever in this new book about the Goode siblings. It seems disaster is always on the horizon anytime this crowd get together. But that’s okay, I don’t think they would be much fun any other way. The author manages to keep our minds moving every time we enter Lucky Valley. Then by the time we reach the end we are dreading the last page and the wait for the next book. I hope you enjoy this book, I can’t wait to read what happens next.
Michelle m Pillow has had me giggling all throughout this book
What with the crazy aunt (ahem) I meant the magically wonderful Aunt Polly, her familiar who happens to be a lobster (don’t ask), and the army of gnomes that see everything and somehow move and get into all sorts of mischief. Always check you’ve locked the bathroom door cos the gnomes have been known to peep (again don’t ask), and never, ever abuse a gnome because they will get their revenge. And for love of all that’s holy – never ever EVER let Lily do a Ouija board.
She’s enough in her hands, what with opening the b&b, the crazy aunt, the tetchy siblings and the old timer ghost plus the many other weird and wonderful beings that seem to be drawn to Garden Gnome Bed and Breakfast. Not to mention there’s been a murder and Lily still hasn’t managed to control her magic….give the girl a break, she’s only known about her magic for a few weeks and she has to run the b&b and do all the work cos let’s face it other than Nolan, no one else seems to be able to do any work to completion. And now things have gone missing and have I mentioned the murder? A slight worry that as the victim gave the b&b a 1* review but hay if they solve her murder maybe she’ll give them more stars.
Now who wants to play an enchanted board game? And who keeps talking?
I loved the first book in this series and now I’m really invested in all the characters, I know their quirks and their brilliance and I also know to stay away from any games Aunt Polly dreams up.
Now can they catch a killer? Idk but this Inn is full so something had better happen soon.
I am volunteering to leave a review of this book
This the second book in this delightfully silly series sees our protagonist Lily facing the grand opening of her bed and breakfast disintegrating into mayhem. Not only does she have an odd aunt to contend with, bizarre moving gnomes, a reluctant half sister, missing items and now to top it all there’s a very dead body ! You would think that was more than enough for anyone to put up with but no there’s also the mystery of just why Lily is hearing a strange voice in her head . Insanity surely cannot be far off now !
This was a fun read and it was very entertaining. I’m loving these oddball characters but this time I thought the mystery was really well thought out. This turned out to be a book that made me smile and I cannot think of anything better.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
Well written, great characters and I really loved the plot line. The mystery kept you guessing right up to the end. Excellent story!
What a fun read!
Yep, the reader has a ball–Lilly not so much. She’s turning her inherited family mansion into a B&B. Well, that’s the plan. More rooms are taken up by family, unproductive family, than rooms for guests. Luckily her boyfriend is working on some cabins in the back to add more availability. Hopefully, the grand opening will be a success.
Nope–not when a dead body shows up in a storage shed. They need to find the murderer. When Aunt Polley “helps” things really get going.
Magic spells. Magic storms. Ghosts. Demons. What more can you ask for? Lilly just hopes with all if that they find the killer and live to tell about it.
The story has fun characters, new and friends revisited. You’ll love the familiars. This one is a great read to sit back and enjoy without a lot of angst. Another good one from Michelle Pillow.
Lily is freaking out some about alot of things one her boyfriend Nolan he is a wolf shifter. After knowing him for 3 weeks she asked him to move in, be a partner in her business, and told him I love you ( he did tell her he loved her too) but her mind is telling her surely it’s all happened to soon? It sure wasn’t normal for her.
Then there was the town not liking her or her family and the stress of fixing the house. Plus she found out she is a witch too
Her family is her brother Dante who just found out he has power and a familiar Raccon named Bartholomew, a sister Mara she never knew she had who is grumpy and never sure if she is a habitual liar , her other sister Jessie will not even come to town to look at the house thier mother left them when she died. They have a crazy aunt Polly who has a huge collection of creepy gnome statues that move around when no one is looking.
Her plan to make ends meet is to turn the house into a bed and breakfast but the Goode’s came from witches and they seem to have really bad luck. The open house didn’t go as planed lol. Your going to have to read it! Wow what a story. I loved the action, mystery, drama, intrigue, magic and more This story had! The characters are fantastic and they pulled you into the story fast. Don’t miss it. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.
What a twisty, humorous book. Bed and Breakfast or a nuthouse? Zany characters abound with Aunt Polly at the helm. Imagine salad sandwiches with ketchup and soy sauce… Yep someone’s favorite food. I have to say I just didn’t see this ending. Really surprised me! I received an advanced copy of this book and freely leave this honest review.
This series is super cute and exciting!
Possible SPOILERS
Lily Goode is trying to run her B&B called Garden Gnome Bed-and-Breakfast but the Grand Opening is a disaster! Items are being stolen from guests and Lily has found one of the guests dead. Lily wants everything to be normal & fine but with these guests of thieves and liars nothing us going right! Lily wishes her siblings would help so her stress is compounding….maybe it’s time for Lily to walk away from the B&B but that’s not what she wants although that might need to happen.
When will something go right with everything?
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC edition of this book. I enjoyed this book. It has an interesting plot line, it is extremely fast paced, intriguing characters, funny scenes and magic! And can’t we all use a little magic in our lives? It is a quick read that will keep you entertained.
Fun, quick read. We are back with Aunt Polly, Lily, Nolan and the rest of Lily’s crazy family. One of Lily’s new B and B guests turns up dead. Poor Lily is just trying to make everything work by doing it all herself. Nolan tries to help but as she’s use to doing everything herself it’s hard for her to give up control. Lily’s needs to find out who killed her guest so she can get her B and B back to normal. We follow along to see what has happened since the first book and who the killer is.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
This is the next book in the (Un)Lucky Valley series and I was pleasantly surprised that we did not move on to another character but stayed with Lily and Nolan as our main characters. We saw them come together against the odds in the last story…but now can they stay together? With Lily’s family dynamics and a murder during the opening weekend of their Bed and Breakfast will this be to much stress for Lily?
This story was hilarious and full of intrigue from the beginning to the end. You never knew what was going to happen next. I cannot wait to see what Michelle has in store for the Goode family witches next.
“But wait, there’s more. Much more.” I totally had a Billy Mayes moment here. This is book 2 in the (Un)Lucky Valley series. Michelle Pillow does it again and brings us a zaney, funny, and fun book. This book brings some fun characters and a mystery. We also had our lovable main characters as well as the never ending amount of gnomes. It was definitely a quick read. I can’t wait for more
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was a great book !
It is the grand opening for Lily’s B & B:
The Garden Gnome Bed & Breakfast.
Maybe, just maybe, Lily will have a better stable future for her and her sibling.
She should have knocked on wood for good luck.
There is already a dead body on opening day.
Lily is really having a bad day.
Now what ?
( Aunt Polly is the best! )
You will have to read the book to find out.
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
A fantastic plot and characters. Another must read from this author. Very well written. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest reiew.
Lily is determined to get The Garden Gnome Bed and Breakfast off and running. But between pernickety guests, a murder and some overwhelming anxieties on her part, Lily thinks that the venture is doomed!
Lily and her wolfman kinda went full throttle into a full-blown live-in relationship but with her issues of abandonment riding her psyche hard, she may just throw the shoe across the room rather than wait for the other one to drop!
Aunt Polly is back to dabbling at her cooky best, the gnomes continue to rearrange themselves and her sibling (newly found included) are giving Lily a headache. They sure do give the town something to talk about – but can they ever win them over?
Fabulously quirky, quick paced read with lots of fun characters to love. I loved learning more about the elusive Sheriff!
