GRACE
He’s trouble-with a capital T.
I knew Warwick was dangerous the second he set foot on my ship.
Nothing good can come from a man like that.
And now, the good-for-nothing pirate took me hostage.
But his attitude and tattoos can’t cover up what’s hiding beneath.
The real man there.
The one I’m slowly losing my heart to.

5 ++++++ Stars
Ok confession time…The first words out of my mouth when finishing this book were..OMG Are you freaking kidding me??? Then…Oh yes it gets worse…I saw when the next book will be released and the first words then were…I am never reading another effing book..EVER
So..about an hour has passed and I’m over my little tantrum and feel like I can find some words to get me through this review. I flipping loved this book..Totally unique and different then I have ever read. I can see where this series is going to be in my favorites because there are so many stories to tell with this group of very interesting characters.
War and Grace were awesome and this story grabbed me at page 1 and still literally has not let go, I loved both of their stories and even how they met although not your average first meeting it still was as I said above very unique and I still see more story to tell for these two and I simply can not wait, especially after that ending…REALLY!? If I didn’t love my kindle so much it would be in a million pieces right now.. I also thought the addition of the cryptic notes from Mom were brilliant, this is why I love this author so so much…You just never really know and her talent for storytelling is in a class of its own.
But…I still need the next one like RIGHT NOW! LOL
Highly recommend, I just know this is going to be another homerun series for this author.
I was steered to this book by the title Squall Line and the cover with the War and Grace and the lighthouse in the background. Gwyn McNamee is a new author to me and she has become an author I will look for other books by her to read. I felt a connection immediately to War and Grace. I am a sea loving person and can see where a relationship can be formed. I can see War and Grace. They are attracted to one another but at what cost. You will have to read the book to find out all the details of the story. I will leave you this quote from the books description that I love:
War and Grace.
Dark and light.
Love and hate.
This storm may destroy them both…
Having read and enjoyed many books by author Gwyn McNamee, I was eager to read her newest offering, which still had romance as the underlying element, but she moved the setting to stormy seas (actually lakes but that doesn’t flow as nicely :)) and cargo ships. It was a welcomed change and I fell right into it.
I related to this story very early on. I grew up near the shores of the Great Lakes and along the shipping channel to the Atlantic. The setting of Squall Line fell directly into my life, a life I live every day (well, every day of the summer when the ships are running). Reading a book that you connect with changes the dynamic and it was so easy for me to picture everything happening as if it were in my own backyard. My summer will now have a different feel when I watch the ships pass by and imagine a sexy captain piloting the ship and his trusty crew.
If you’ve read the blurb then I’m sure you’ve already one-clicked this swash-buckler. Who can resist a modern day, raven-haired pirate and a fiery redheaded hostage? Not me, and hopefully, not you. Sparks are sure to fly when their attraction combusts.
Gwyn did not disappoint. Squall Line an exciting, fast-paced story with plenty of intrigue and mystery, not to mention all the sexual tension between Warwick and Grace that finds a very satisfactory release. These characters are the stuff the amazing heroes and heroines are made of. Neither backs down from a challenge and both have many sides to them. Warwick is gruff yet soft and lovable whereas Grace is feisty and inquisitive. They make a great team—Hope they figure that out.
One last thought for you—Squall Line is Book 1 in The Inland Seas Series, so be forewarned. Gwyn leaves us on the edge of our seats, but it was an ending that had me smiling and now craving answers and more of them together. Hopefully, she won’t leave us hanging too long.

Squall Line (The Inlands Seas Series #1)
By Gwyn McNamee
5 stars
I love it when authors take a step out of their writing comfort zone and write something different and I absolutely take my hat off to Ms McNamee because she absolutely nailed this story!! I have read every book that she has written so far so I was really excited to see if she could keep my interest with a new genre and she absolutely did and more! I was completely hooked from beginning to end – in fact it is one of those books that you can’t wait to read again and it isn’t very often that I read a book more than once!
I loved War and Grace! They were both just totally amazing to read about! Both strong and independent in their own right – almost like an alpha male vs an alpha female! I loved the interaction between them and also the obvious attraction!!
I can tell that this is going to be an amazing series and I cannot wait for the next book to be released!!
Squall Line – The Inland Seas Series Book One by Gwyn McNamee is very different to other books that Gwyn writes but different didn’t make this story any less great, it’s just different and let’s just say it is most certainly well worth the read. This is just as much a page turner as Gwyn’s other books and I fell in love with the characters and their quirkiness and their normalness faults and all. The plot is well developed and had me intrigued and enthralled all the way through. The emotions, passion and chemistry between the main characters was like the squall they went through, wild and explosive and also vulnerable and sweet.
War was young and stupid and made a deal with the devil, a deal that he knows in the end no one will walk away from. What he didn’t expect is the one woman who got under his skin, the one woman that is driving him insane, the one woman that changed his life. Now if only he can keep her and himself alive.
Great start to the series and I can not wait for the next book to see where it goes.
This author continues to enthrall me with every story she writes. Squall Line is another absolute treasure. Angst, passion, strong characters, gripping plot movement. War and Grace – two concepts and characters that are opposites in so many ways. I loved these characters and how masterfully McNamee wove these names into the character personality profiles. Just perfect.
This is a must read, whether you are a long standing follower of this author’s work or a newcomer. You won’t be disappointed.
Squall Line is an interesting tale of a pirate on Lake Michigan who picked the wrong boat to rob. Things started of promising and intense, but slowly settled early on. The premise of the story is good.
The pace was uneven with things being so rushed to push the hero/heroine together, but slow when it came to the action and intimacy between the two. I enjoyed their passion once it got started near the end and loved the sweet touches that gave slight insight to Warwick.
Overall it was a decent read, one I’d venture to read the next book to see how things play out because of the forced cliffhanger, but not for someone who loves more details and extensive dialogues.
This was truly an amazing story. Basically, take a small MC, but change it up and turn them into modern day pirates on the Great Lakes. Then for good measure, add in a mafia family. Oh, and don’t forget the sexy parts, because we like the sexy parts. And then! for kicks and giggles, for it to end that way? It’s not every day that I just feel like a rug was pulled out from under me when I read. But I sure felt that way, and it leaves me wanting more so that I can find out what happens next. Give me more of the Inland Seas series, NOW!
Squall Line is book The Inland Seas Series by Gwyn McNamee. I just adore the way this author weaves a story. Excitement at every turn of the page. Adventure every day. Dramatic adrenaline packed events at each chapter. Passion in every paragraph. Complex characters with intriguing personalities evident from the first words. Contentment in the whole, entire package.
War and Grace. They meet in extenuating circumstances, they endure each others company because they have to. They fall for one another because they have np choice. They are inevitably drawn to each other. They love with intensity, passion and desperation. Their love should not be. But it is. And I am so thankful they fell. A brilliant and captivating story that will enrapture you and bewitch you. 4 stars.
Squall Line by Gwyn McNamee is the first book in the Inland Seas series. This book is absolutely captivating and will sweep you off your feet!! This book for me was made entirely by the MC’s Grace and War. I couldn’t find a single thing about them that I didn’t like!! From the second I picked up the book I felt drawn to them. And even after j had finished reading I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I found myself going back and re-reading sections that had enticed me so much. Gwyn McNamee seriously knows how to write a good book. I loved that this one was different to other things I had read by her. It shows she has diversity as well as phenomenal writing skill. This is yet another 5* read from this author.
I loved this book! This is a little different for this author but it works for her. This is a creative, well written, engaging story that I couldn’t put down until the end. The characters are connectable and brought the story to life for me. War finds himself on Grace’s ship but is put in a situation that he has to take Grace hostage. They are opposites but do they have more in common than they realize? Their chemistry is off the charts and I can’t wait to read more from them.. A must read!

War and Grace may start as enemies, but they’re perfectly matched. I’ve never read a modern pirate romance, but the adventure of this book drew me right in, and I’m so glad I picked this book up! I cannot wait for the next one, I loved it so much. This was a bit of a slow burn, as they truly are enemies with an attraction, but I felt the pull between them, the sizzling passion trying to burst through. They react to one another without knowing why and it’s one of the best parts of the whole story.
I’d definitely recommend this romance. I can’t wait for more!
I really enjoyed this book, different from anything I’ve read before and it was refreshing to read something new. War and Grace were a force to be reckoned with, both stubborn, amazing banter, and Grace drive War crazy. These two are so opposite and have more in common than they think. The more time these two spend together verges on the edge of developing feelings for each other which could inevitably be bad for them in a dangerous way. Loved this story, no spoilers here. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Squall Line (The Inland Seas Series Book One) by Gwyn McNamee
I have read every book by this author, so far, and here’s a new series like nothing i’ve read before. When I think of pirates, its dirty old men who don’t know what a bath is, or of course the famous movie series. But these pirates are very different.
Warwick has a job to do to repay debts, never having to deal with more than he or his crew can handle, he doesn’t expect a fiery redhead to stand in his way.
She makes him break the rules, and surprises him at every turn.
I was not expecting how this story went or how it ended. I need the rest of this series like yesterday, i want to know more of this crew.
Great read, kept me hooked from beginning to end.
Wow! This book was amazing! It was so different than any other book I have read in a long time. War is a modern day pirate and he and his motley crew are determined to take the cargo of a ship captained by Grace. War ends up taking Grace hostage and the action begins. Can’t wait to see what’s next!
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Great job
Wow, definitely a stormy and wind-swept read
Squall Line absolutely blew me away with it’s quirky, questioning heroine and its fiercely foreboding hero. Grace and War are two opposing forces caught in a battle of wills and wiles.
God, this is so wrong and so damn right.
This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever done in my life. Yet, my heart races, and I feel more alive than I ever have in the arms of the man who could have killed me.
I absolutely adored this couple and I very much hope that you will do so too. They are both so flawed, one full of anger and vitriol, the other probing and pernickety. Yet both are just so special, they will steal your heart and refuse to return it.
Warwick is a good man who made a stupid choice for the best of reasons. That mistake eventually leads to a confrontation with Grace, who can’t leave well enough alone, can’t let things go. The result is a clash of personalities, a storm of emotion, a maelstrom of feelings and confusions amidst a sea of troubles. If they could only hate each other, and goodness knows there are plenty of reasons to, things wouldn’t be half as complicated.
Here, wrapped in his arms, lost to the entire world, the whispered apology erases all the pain the last few days have caused. This Warwick is the one I always knew was there. The one I always knew would be a danger.
I truly felt the winds of their passion and was swept up by the torrent of emotions that poured from them. Tossed like a pebble on the tide, the plot twisted and turned me up, down and around. This was a story that soaked into my soul, a couple that have lodged in my heart. It ended on a very soft cliff-hanger but I loved this so much that I will definitely be continuing with this series.
“Grace.” My name is a prayer. A question. A promise.
I loved this story! Grace was a spitfire and War never stood a chance. I loved that she was so outspoken. I can’t wait to read more!
