My naughty Kitty wants to turn her claws on me – but she should know better than to play the master at his own game.
Vicious Revenge is the fast-paced, action packed, hotter than ever conclusion to the Vicious City series, a trilogy of four books. Five, if you include the free teaser. You’ve read the free teaser, right?
A Literary Murder of a Thousand Plot Cuts… At first I silently screamed, now THIS is what I’ve been waiting three long books for! This trading of wits, this battle of wills, all building from the moment Vicious snatched Kitty off the street. The hopeful epic conclusion of Kitty realizing her power and showing Vicious that submissive and obedient doesn’t mean powerless and docile. And it could have been EPIC!!! And at first it was, but as quickly as it started it stopped and became pedestrian, predictable, and frustratingly disappointing.
This saga had all the ingredients to be brilliant. Parts of it were so. Yet for every fully, luxuriously fleshed out chapter at the start, there were equally rushed and underdeveloped chapters at the back. Like a glorious orchestra building and building a perfect crescendo only to stop playing and walk out before the heart shaking, vibrato filled climax.
It left me hollow, and in the end I sadly leave this series the same way I started, conflicted and ill at ease, seeing so much potential for greatness with rich vibrant characters such as these, but getting kicked in the bud instead.
This has to be one of the most twisted revenge plots I’ve read. Kitty has the inner brat in her and she’s tired of being lied to. Her game of revenge on Vicious could come with consequences she’s not ready for. And is Vicious ready for what he’s brought about? As this cat and mouse games between Kitty and Vicious continues, Loki Renard expressed it in such a way I could actually picture the mental thoughts going through these characters minds and at certain points even mentally giggled over the ingenious of the plan. A great read, a terrific series, and a perfect ending. I feel almost as satisfied finishing this tale as I’m sure the characters did enacting it. Thank you and Congratulations Loki.
I have to be honest and say I was happy to see this series end. Not that I didn’t like and enjoy this story with these characters, but I wish I had waited until the series was done and then read it all. I will say that I will be going back to read all of these books straight through now that they are all out.
This book concludes the story between Vicious and Kitty and also their friends Blaze and Slick. And although I was really enjoying Vicious and Kitty’s story throughout all the other books this book I had more of an emotional connection with Blaze and Slick then with the other two. It was nice to see everyone got their happy ending even if it is in a roundabout way.
I am hoping Loki puts these books into a collection so that we can read them together with a nice flow to them.
I would highly recommend these books if you are looking for an entertaining but dirty series!
I read the entire Vicious series in a few days (#1-3 actually, then I had to wait a few months for #4 to be released). #4 wasn’t my favorite in the series, but it wrapped up the series and was still worth reading. These are dark Dom/Sub themed books with twisted characters, but the characters draw the reader in quite easily and thoroughly. Short reads, but very well-written. The characters are quite distinct and there are several good plot twists along the way. Loki is a fabulous writer, so much so that by the end of book 4, she has me interested in reading her m/m books (the characters appear in Vicious #4). I’m not personally interested in m/m, but the characters are so enthralling I’m very tempted to read those crossover books!
I’m sad that this series is over, but HOLY SMOKE this ending was amazing! Kitty is one of my favorite characters; with the perfect blend of naivety and I-can-do-it-myself attitude. She also feels helpless and not listened to, and just wants to be treated like an intelligent woman. You could almost describe her as a brat. When she discovers the length Vicious has gone to to keep her under his control she snaps, and that decision is going to cost her.
This story really does have it all. It is full of danger, excitement, suspense, passion, and sexiness. There are moments when I wanted to cry, stomp my foot in frustration (much like Kitty), and melt into a puddle from the heat between these two.
Kitty and Vicious aren’t the only ones discovering love in this one. I can’t forget to at least mention Blaze and Slick. There story is just as passionate, but less angsty since Blaze can see the danger and is willing to accept that she can’t do everything alone. The combination of telling their stories together is brilliant since most of the humorous moments come from the interactions between Slick and Blaze. It kept me from bursting into tears more than a few times.
If you haven’t read this incredible series then you are seriously missing out.
Let me start by saying, the name does not lie! Miss Kitty works hard on her revenge, and works it well. But she doesn’t quite get the results she wanted, at least not for awhile. This was quite an epic and entertaining end to a series, and to characters, I’ve enjoyed quite a great deal. Definitely must reads!!!
Book 4 – the conclusion of Vicious and Kitty’s story. Will Kitty’s revenge against Vicious be successful? You will have to read the book to find out. But I can say, everything in the first three books leads up to this final book perfectly. These two characters are strong in their own right, but put them together and they are explosive! Their story is a page turner from start to finish. Even though you think you know what is going to happen next, you turn that next page and suddenly find out that you had no idea. It is that kind of book – lots of twists and turns within the plot. In fact, just when you think you understand where each book in the four book series is going to take the characters, you are proven wrong. This book like the others is a very gripping, steamy read.
If I had one complaint about this book and this series, it is that I would rather have seen it come out as one book and not four. I think that the impact of the story was lost a bit, by having to wait between books releases. Hopefully, for future readers, the author might consider selling it as a box set. Just an idea.
But I can truthfully say this was a great story.
Hmph! … the end … really? For me it is rather an open end or an intermediate end with a lot of space for … must be continued or … there are still knots to solve.
Disentangled and on a common basis the relationship of Vicious and Kitty is only on one or two levels. There is still something missing, there is even more.
As always skillfully and wonderfully written, captivating with a suitable tempo and some drama and a lot of smiles.
Kitty’s little revenge and her cry for attention are wonderfully written, so defiant, emotionally spontaneous and differently powerful and indeed explosive. She is so much more than Vicious wants or can allow her to be.
Which brings me back to my biggest point of criticism or weakness: Vicious
To know and enforce everything does not mean to understand and to get everything. Oh, he is on the right track and has the right approaches. But they are only the beginning. He just can’t get out of his box. Maybe it’s all because Vicious didn’t reach me emotionally through all the books and couldn’t take me with him. He remains for me a sidekick for Kitty and she rocks:
strong, self-confident, spontaneous with insecurity and a lot of misjudgement but the strength to stand by her mistakes and to face the consequences. Great character!
Great that Slick and Blaze got their ice cream in this book, too, could have been a second one. (Sorry, there speaks the insatiable reader) These two side characters were/are simply great.
In any case a reading recommendation with 3.5 stars and the extra ice
= 4
A Tremendous conclusion to the VICIOUS CITY SERIES, an outstanding MUST-BUY, page-turner!
Looking over those cliffs at the end of the prequel and each segment of this story about Vicious and Kitty has had this reader both hot and bothered about Kitty’s future, and if that future would include Vicious. From the very first paragraph of the prequel, “VICIOUS TEASE,” through the last page of this concluding segment, “VICIOUS REVENGE” author Loki Renard had my attention and total focus. Renard has the amazing gift of tantalization. She gives her readers the smallest amount of information, stringing them along and building the tension so that her readers are sitting on the edge of their seats. Knowing that something is going to happen, something shocking, perhaps painful or bad, and yet they turn the pages of the novel as quickly as possible because Renard’s words have that increasing volume and that creepy/suspenseful feeling one gets when she knows the bad guy is right there ready to pounce – and those words are amazingly descriptive making this movie in my head. So much so, that reader tension is nearing its peak, that place where the book has to be put down for a moment so that the reader’s heart rate can regulate, and once it has the reader picks the book back up quickly and reads again – because the reader MUST know what is going to happen. . . and then . . . **BOOM**! It happens and the reader has to find out what that event will do to Kitty . . . Why’d that event have to happen like that? . . . and OMG how can this possibly end well?!? The good news is “VICIOUS REVENGE” is the final segment to this most amazing sequel, and readers will get to find out if Kitty gets her revenge on Vicious or if something more unexpected happens. Of course, for those who love to read Loki Renard’s stories all know, something unexpected is SURE to happen! And it is in that pursuit to find out how it all comes out in the end that keeps them coming back for more, for everything Loki Renard has written. It gets a bit dark and erotic, so no one under the age of 18 should one click, but for those like their romance a little dark and full of suspense and originality, then “VICIOUS REVENGE” should be your next purchase! Happy pages!
Oh my goodness! This series has it all adventure, drama, and a love story that is so hot it’s smoking! It’s a fast read, well written tale that sucks you in and keeps you there till you have read the whole thing! Vicious and Kitty are two very strong people who waver between what one can think of to do to best the other. Even though they know their it for each other they can’t seem to help themselves, and then they bring poor Slick and Blaze are along with them and what an adventure it was! Loki Renard has done it again by giving us an incredably enjoyable adventure to read!
What a fabulous ending to Vicious and Kitty’s story!
Kitty is feeling revengeful towards Vicious as she learns about his tricks and lies, and so begins a twisted little game of the Kitty hunting her man.
More devious than she has appeared to be before she tries to drag Blaze into her schemes. But Blaze has issues of her own and has finally grown up enough to stay out of it as much as possible! Which is smart considering who she goes to for comfort and advice.
Kitty embarks on her mastermind plan to bring Vicious to heel, very creatively, to the point that at one time I thought she’d lost her marbles…….
While Vicious feels her claws, her actions bring her to the notice of three other predators, two of which make Vicious almost look like a boyscout!
As Vicious sees to damage control and Kitty tries to get out of shark infested waters, they know they have a reckoning coming! One that will decide their fate as a couple!
Slick and Blaze have issues that they must also surmount in order to have a future.
The epilogue was fantastic as well, a nice little update on our twisted quartet!
This story pulled my emotions all over the place, I so love reading about these characters but letting go is bittersweet.
Maybe down the road we can convince Ms. Renard to give us a glimpse of them again………
As always this story delivers on heat, chemistry, action, fantastic flawed characters, intriguing story lines, spankings, lust and love! 10 stars!
love love this series and in this last part Kitty is a full blown BRAT and is in for revenge being tired of being lied to by Vicious and its payback time and believe me she doesn’t hold back and I loved it it was so exciting and thrilling and I cant believe the things she did she had a whole lot of guts and one thing she doesn’t realize when shes caught she pays big time and no more fun and games, Vicious will have his punishment.
I loved seeing some older characters in this one and it was a fantastic end full of laughter, drama, you name it it was in this book and the perfect ending well as best as it can be for this couple who have no promises and are constantly at war but it works perfectly for them.
