The night Ford McLean crawled through my bedroom window, his playlist was born. The day he left, he ruined every single song.My name is Easton, and I catch babies. When I’m called to a teen mom’s birth in the middle of a thunderstorm, the last person I expect to see is Caroline. No, scratch that: the last person I expect to see—the last person I want to see—is her brother. Six years, and the … her brother.
Six years, and the sight of Ford still wrings my heart dry. His voice still melts me.
His smirk still pisses me off in ways he can’t even imagine.
Our small, Southern town broadcasts rumors 24/7, yet no one thought to tell me Ford was back. And now I’m stuck living near him all over again—stuck replaying the hell he put me through the last summer I saw him.
I swore I wouldn’t give him the time of day. I failed.
But I sure as hell won’t give him a second chance.

Once upon a time, I thought Easton Lawrence would be the girl who saved me.
I didn’t return to sleepy little Hillford for redemption; I don’t deserve it. I didn’t even return for her. I came back because my family needs me.
As soon as this is over, I’m out of here. Gone. A ghost.
At least, that was my plan. I didn’t count on seeing Easton again—much less confessing I’m still in love with her.
The day we met, she hated me: eight years old and sworn enemies. But as the years passed, I changed her mind. So maybe there’s hope.
Maybe I can change it again.

Our past makes us who we are today. We can’t go back in time and fix mistakes, take back words or not meet certain people. All we can do is learn from them and hope we don’t make the same mistakes again one day.
We are faced with challenges every single day, good and bad. It’s how we handle them that show ourselves and others how weak or strong we truly are. Don’t run from these challenges. Instead, face them head on. Ask for help when you need it even if it’s for something small. Talk about it, whatever it maybe. You will find how strong some people really are once you do. Our voice is one of the strongest tools we have in life so use it and use it often no matter what.
This beautiful, second chance story hit home for me in many ways. Piper Lennox truly did an amazing job telling us Easton and Ford’s story and it spoke volumes. I’m looking forward to reading book 2 as soon as it’s live.
A playlist of songs and then he’s gone and to her, those songs are gone forever. He broke her heart when he left. Emotional with lots of suspense and drama. No shortage of hidden chemistry or attraction. A second chance at love for Easton and Ford. A great book that has well developed, strong characters that are likable and easy to relate to. An entertaining read that I read as an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review.
I don’t know how Piper Lennox manages to consistently write book with characters that you can empathize or identify with, that draw you in with their story and make you feel like you’re a part of it. And her books definitely make me feel! I was saddened, heartbroken, angry, and hopeful! This was such a beautiful read with some of the best quotes!

Highly emotional and passionate second chance
I love getting wrapped up in PiperLennox’s books, and The Midwife’s Playlist is no exception! She has a wonderful, descriptive way of detailing everyday things, places, feelings and inner dialogue while taking you on an enrapturing journey.
This dual POV book sets the groundwork for another all encompassing, enthralling and emotional series featuring several wonderful characters you can’t help falling in love with. Add in the combustible chemistry, volatile passions and exploration of the deep emotional history of Ford and Easton, you are guaranteed to be captivated with their story and thrilled with this author’s first book of her new series.
Messy, sweet, steamy and dramatic, Book One of the Now Entering Hillford Series is exceptionally well written and promises more great reads to come featuring the wonderful characters introduced here. Best of all, the HEA is just awesome. I’m a goner for epilogues like this book has, ending feeling so good, truly happy and full of promise.

So I first read this book when it came out and never sat down to write the review. Then I was offered a chance to read an ARC of the third book in the series and got the first two with it. I am a huge fan of Piper Lennox. I don’t think I’ve read anything of hers that’s I didn’t enjoy. When I need something that is a little different, with not really bad boys but more realistic men, she is a a go to.
This book was no different. A second chance romance between childhood friends who are very much meant to be. Ford left the town in Hillford and Easton behind but now years later he realizes it was a huge mistake. Nothing ever seemed right without Easton. The story of how they got back everything they lost, meeting all these amazing , well developed, complex characters was just as good the second time as it was the first.
Now Entering Hillford is a great series highly recommend any and all of the books!
This book was so difficult for me to read. It kept bouncing back and forth between past and present. There were so many flashbacks, it started to get confusing about what happened when. For example, when they were in the closet at the party, I thought they were further along in high school. Later, I found out they were younger than I thought.
There was a lot of anger, pain, and sadness. I never really felt a connection between the two main characters. I felt like the female lead blew hot and cold.
It got to the point that I truly didn’t care what happened to either one. By the time it got to the end, I still felt this sense of things being unresolved, or of them having a very tenuous connection despite the “HEA”.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
A bit long but good
Easton and Ford have known each other since they were eight. It’s been a hate-love-hate relationship. It turned to hate the last time when Ford left town with only a note. It all starts again on the night Easton, now a midwife, delivers Ford’s sister’s baby on the local ferry. Things are different now. But are they really?
This was not my favorite book by this author, but it was still pretty good. If you’re looking for a tortured second chance romance, this is probably what you’re looking for. It was so, almost depressing at yimes, I really doubted there would be a happy ending. I honestly couldn’t see how it was possible. There was just so much sadness in this story. Have tissue, for the end anyway. There are some great characters in this, between friends and family, it really brought more depth to everything
I love Easton and Ford and I love their love story!! This romance has great sadness, great love and lots of great stuff in between. Ford and Easton have a history that goes deeper than you at first think. Its a roller coaster ride of emotions and lots of steamy scenes. I cant wait for the next book in the series!
This was such a great book and worth the time I took to read it. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly between the chemistry and the twist and turns this kept me turning the pages to find out if they would let each other get to the happy ending they should have had.

I always find myself surprised by Ms Lennox’ ability to take the deep dive into her characters. I shouldn’t be. She writes with a depth of development that allows the reader to have a facile understanding of the people she writes about – even when there is a bit of frustration with their obtuseness as in this case with Ford. The obtuseness has its own reward with the resolution. If you like stories that are both thought provoking and entertaining then you will be sure to enjoy this book.
