A pet-phobic PR person. A curious cat. A crisis that could bring Dog Town to its knees.Evie Springdale doesn’t exactly hate pets, but she sure doesn’t love them. That’s why her move to Dorset Hills to handle public relations for the dog-crazy town comes as a surprise to Nick, her twin brother and a Dog Town convert. What many people don’t know is that Evie’s lost eight political jobs, eight … political jobs, eight romantic relationships, and survived eight freak accidents. It’s time for a fresh start and she’s determined to make her ninth life completely different.
When she finds an injured cat trapped between the doors of her new house in Dorset Hills, Evie’s feelings about pets are put to the test. And when that cat brings home evidence of a crime that could cause a public relations fiasco, she needs to decide whether to do the right thing … or the job she was hired to do.
One wayward cat, three sweet dogs, a handsome veterinarian, a bold band of rebels, a brotherly helping hand and an Easter festival might just be enough to turn Evie’s ninth life into a stunning success.

Nine Lives in Dog Town is a delight. Dorset Hills is the last place Evie should settle as she is severely allergic to animals but this doesn’t stop her accepting the PR job the mayor offered her. Suddenly she has a cat Roberto who is simply wonderful and a total character, a mystery to solve and the handsome vet to help her. This book has everything you would expect from a visit to Dog Town including the colourful rescue mafia, ridiculous Dog Town rules, dog snobbery and a mystery to work out .. and dogs, lots of dogs. Leo and Roberto steal the limelight in this great, laugh out loud book. I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Sandy Rideout’s saga of life in Dog Town continues with maybe the best story yet – Nine Lives in Dog Town. The mayor needs some help after recent fiascoes such as his failed dog court. Enter Evie(who is allergic to animals) to handle PR. The mayor and his chief of staff Zeke keep throwing Evie to the wolves, but saying they have things handled. Ha! Evie gets adopted by a very unusual cat who keep bringing home exotic animals. Where is the cat getting these creatures? With the help of a handsome vet, the Rescue Mafia and her cat, can Evie unravel the mystery? Don’t miss the latest from Dog Town!
A heartwarming and fun story. Evie is a great character, looking forward to seeing how her life progresses in Dog Town. Roberto is a very unusual cat, he is the hero of the story and loves his new role protecting Evie. Without giving spoilers away, Evie is finally settling down and there may be romance in her future. The Dog Mafia is fantastic. Every kind of dog lover is in the gang and they are a force to be reckoned with. Highly recommend this book and the series.
I purchased a copy of the book from kindle unlimited and recommend that you do too.
I enjoyed the interplay between the quirky characters, both animal and human. It was a delightful read and I recommend to anyone who likes cozy mysteries and of course animal lovers.
The fabulous Ms. Rideout has done it again! I have been reading her “Dog Town” series since the first book and this was the best yet! More Dog Town and more of the Rescue Mafia!
Evelyn (Evie) has recently moved to town and gets involved with the politics of Dog Town.
She also gets involved with a cat named Roberto. Roberto has decided that Evie is his new human. Too bad Evie is horribly allergic to Roberto. As Roberto starts bringing home “friends” Evie gets more involved with the mystery of where his “friends” are coming from.
This book had several LOL moments, a sweet romance, and a who-done-it mystery.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
We get another romantic suspense set in Dorset Hills, aka Dog Town. This book features the Easter holiday and tells the story of Evie. Evie has been hired by Mayor Bradshaw along with his new Chief of Staff, Zeke. They like to throw her to the wolves, so to speak, without giving her any notice or information. On Evie’s first day home after work, she finds an injured cat between the screen door and the front door. Roberto isn’t just any ole cat though. Even if she is highly allergic, she takes the cat to the vet, where she meets, Dr. Jon Benson. I won’t leave any spoilers because I think everyone will love this newest addition to these series and should read it for themselves. I will say, it was nice catching up with some of my favorite characters from the previous books.
