Hang on…this second collaboration between M.A. Comley and Emmy Ellis is terrific. The story is terrifying but compelling, perfect for the adrenaline junkie with heart. And what a story it is! A brutal, twisted killer stabs and kills random victims, shocking even the most hardened police officers. It’s the randomness of the maniac’s attacks that most frustrates DI Helena Stratton and her team. The killer leaves no clues; how can they catch him, save others?
There is depth and doggedness to Helena and her partner Andy. Their relationship began on the prickly side, but grows as they struggle to act. I know cops personally. I’m always struck by how they handle the stress of their job, and the writing here nails it. The frustration, the exhaustion, and even the occasional crack of gallows humor ring true. This book is intense and will have your heart pounding, but what a ride. Well done, fantastic authors! Five stars!
Love this book! Hope they keep coming Can’t Get Enough
A horrific murder starts the ball rolling in a small town called Smaltern. DI Helena Stratton and her colleague Andy Mald with the help of the rest of the team are hard pushed to try & solve it with hardly any clues to go on. Before they could get a handle on it and information from witnesses another 2 murders were reported.
This brilliantly written book by 2 of the best authors had me chomping at the bit to see how this thriller unfolded. One of my best reads this year, gory, twisted but absolutely riveting.
DI Helena Stratton and her partner are called to investigate what looks like random killings. There doesn’t seem to be any connection among the four who have died.
There has been a witness .. one older lady who said she saw a woman at her neighbor’s — one of the victims. The woman on the street was sort of tall, long blonde hair, dark red or black lips.
Helena and Andy have their work cut out for them. Who is this woman? Why does she want these particular people dead?
This is an outstanding addition to the series. Although this is the second book, it can be read as a stand alone. As always, I highly recommend starting at the beginning. There are hints here … but a lot of unanswered questions that can be found in THE MAN IN THE HOUSE. Helena is still suffering with nightmares from her past. She and Andy (her partner) had a rough beginning, but both of them are beginning to have a meeting of the minds.
Many thanks to the authors for this digital copy of a well written crime fiction with clearly defined characters and an impressive story premise. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
The Lady in the Street builds on the chemistry in the relationship between the two protagonists from Book 1. This dark crime fiction may have you jumping at noises and dodging shadows in consternation. A page-turner of a twisty suspense with mystery that really challenges.
