WANTED: A ROOMMATE Requirements1.Don’t be a smoker. That’s gross.2.Don’t be a jerk. I have no time to deal with your mood swings.3.Clean up after yourself. Is it really so hard to put dirty clothes where they belong? If you meet these qualifications, call me.Sincerely,Desperately Seeking RoommateWhen I put the ad in my university’s newspaper, the last thing I ever expect is for the star football … the last thing I ever expect is for the star football player to respond.
From what I know of him, Abel Russo is a womanizer and an absolute jerk.
Sadly, he’s the only thing stopping me from being evicted by my annoyingly gleeful landlord.
It should be easy enough—there’s no chance we’ll fall for each other. But then he gives me lingering looks, and I might just be looking back.
All I wanted was a roommate, but I’m about to get so much more than I bargained for.

Desperately Seeking Roommate was a great entertaining read. It was funny, spicy, and real. Abel and Lou are down-to-earth, genuine characters. I really enjoyed their interactions and banner. They didn’t apologize for who they were but I also liked how they brought out the best in each other. They complemented each other perfectly. Abel was just the sweetest and Lou was crazy fun. It was an unlikely friendship that grew into something more. I liked seeing the progression of their relationship through Micalea’s superb writing. This book was quirky and fun-I loved it! Smiles and laughter throughout. I do hope Micaela eventually writes a book for Miranda-that girl is amusing.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

This book is so funny. I love a good roommate situation when they can’t keep their thoughts to themselves and then eventually their hands. However fate is about to slap Lou and Abel in the face. Lou is a sassy down to earth girl and Abel is the star football player and oh so swoon worthy. This book is all kinds of good and the characters are so relatable. I love to read a college romance and this one is a must read.
Loved Lou and Abel’s story. This was sweet, funny, quirky story. This is a college romance. Date brings these two opposites together when Lou is looking for a roommate to help pay the rent and Abel is looking for a place to live. There is an attraction that the two try to fight but when they get together swoon. Lou is a sassy, down to earth, quirky woman. Abel is the star football player hot, sexy and sweet. Loved Lou’s best friends who are funny and would do anything for each other.
I won an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.
Desperately Seeking Roommate is a fun sexy read. Micalea created characters that are relatable and well developed. Lou is hilarious. I adored the dynamic between Lou and Able. Their magnetism to each other and their playfulness drew me in. If you like real characters and a fun read and get your hands on Lou and Abel.
Micalea Smeltzer is one of my favorite authors and I was excited to hear that she was releasing a new book. I fell in love with Desperately Seeking Roommate from the moment I laid eyes on that gorgeous, sexy cover and read the blurb. This book was an entertaining, captivating story that I didn’t want to ever end. I loved how down to earth and real the characters were and I’m pretty sure Lou is my spirit animal because I could definitely relate to almost every single thing about her. I really enjoyed the banter and interactions between Abel and Lou and also Lou’s best friends, Miranda and Tanner. I loved how they made each other better people while also not wanting to change anything about one another. They complemented each other perfectly. Abel was the sweetest and was unlike any football star I’ve ever read about before and Lou was quirky and fun with a great personality. Theirs was an unlikely friendship that slowly grew into more. I liked how their relationship wasn’t an insta-love and more a slow build into something more. Micalea did an amazing job in creating these very relatable characters that you can’t help but to love and smile at all the joy they give off. This book is definitely one of my new favorites of hers and I can’t wait for more! I really hope she decides to write books for Miranda and Tanner!! I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a book that will make you laugh and smile the whole way through and with characters that you can probably relate to. Thank you Micalea for another awesome book!!
I’m totally in love with everything about this book. I loved the characters, there were totally unique but also so relatable.
Micalea Smeltzer has EVERYTHING you want and love about a college romance wrapped up in one unbelievable love story with Desperately Seeking Roommate.
Lou needs a roommate. One that is clean, loves pink, and doesn’t love yellow Starbursts. To say her needs and wants in a roommate are slightly quirky is an understatement. But when college football god and star Abel responds to her ad, she’s desperate for anyone to help her pay the bills. What she doesn’t see coming is the perfect roommate in Abel.
Smeltzer wowed me with Lou and Abel. Each character was equally wonderful. From Lou’s quirkiness to Abel’s love of family, I was head over heels the entire story. These two are total opposites and on paper, they’d never work, but somehow Smeltzer makes them into the perfect pair as they spend time together, become friends and blur the lines between friendship. Oh the angst! That’s my favorite part of a best friends to lovers trope and Smeltzer just nailed it!
Desperately Seeking Roommate is definitely a college romance I’d recommend to readers! I can’t wait for more from Smeltzer!
Desperately Seeking Roommate was a great read. Lou’s (Louise) creep landlord is ready to evicted her so to pay rent she needs a roommate and Abel needs a place to live. They need each other so they have place to live. They are pretty much strangers when they move in together but they get along great. Lou is super funny and you never know what’s going to come out of her mouth. Abel is a college star football player and know to be a player off the field to. I didn’t see much of Abel being a player but i guess before Lou that was his reputation. I thought Abel was a sweet guy. He meets and balances Lou’s crazy mouth just perfectly. This one was fun read. There were parts I wish we got more information about but overall this one was a good read.
I must admit I laughed out loud the entire time I read Desperately Seeking Roommate. Kudos to the author for giving us one Hilarious storyline that flowed from scene to scene. The characters are a hoot and so well defined you will feel like you’ve known them for years.
Lou, is a unique college girl. She’s sassy, smart, independant, knows her own worth and loves pink (especially pink starburst). But Lou is desperately in need of a roommate, since they’ve raised her rent and she can’t afford her place on her own and the rent is done soon. So she puts an ad in the University’s newspaper, lining out some of her many rules.
Abel Russo, the womanizing star of the football team answers her ad. He’s Mr. Popular who everyone knows and hangs around. She is quirky, has a couple of close friends and is basically a nobody on campus. Lou lives her life in her own quirky was and doesn’t care what other people think. If any two people were totally opposites, it’s Lou and Able. But then again, you know how that old saying goes, that opposites attract.
Watching these two interact is not only hilarious, it’s heartwarming and very down to earth/realistic. I highly recommend grabbing it up asap. 2 Thumbs up for a terrific RomCom.
I absolutely loved this book! Lou was confident, funny, quirky and her chemistry with Abel was off the charts. I laughed and smiled my way through this book. I didn’t want it to end! I also loved Lou’s friendship with Miranda. They are the quintessential best friends – jokes, pep talks, support and pizza! Hurry up and read this….you won’t be disappointed.
As fate would have it…
I LOVED THIS BOOK.
Now. I’m not the biggest reader of rom-com. They tend to fall short for me. BUT! There was something about this one that screamed, “Try me!” And now I know that that someone was a fate loving, ball busting, badass of a female lead named Lou.
The entire time I read this (and it was practically done in 2 sessions, only because I had to drive and work in the middle), I could picture it playing out like my favorite college-aged rom-com movie. I would LOVE to see this one in action.
Lou is the girl you want to be. Who you want your daughters to be. She’s strong, witty, has a take-no-shit attitude. She says what’s on her mind and she doesn’t care if you like her or not…until she does care. She has her vulnerable moments, yes, but they simply round her character out.
Then there’s Abel. Oh my, that Abel. He’s not your classic football jock jerk. In fact, he knows that, gasp, there’s life after college. That who you are in college is not who you are, or who you should be, after. I absolutely adored watching him fall for Lou.
Kudos, Micalea, you sucked me in and didn’t let me go. I will be loving Lou and Abel for many years to come (also, thank you for those epilogues. They made my epilogue-loving heart very happy).
Lou is a Junior in college and has been happily living, in her 2 bedroom apartment, alone for 2 years. When her new landlord raises the rent she is forced to look for a roommate. Imagine her surprise when the guy who answers her ad is the star of the football team. Abel is known as a jerk and a womanizer. Even more to her surprise Lou finds that she actually likes him and they might actually be friends. Abel is tired of the partying and one night stands and has vowed his isn’t going to party away his senior year. Will his quirky, crazy roommate change his mind?
This is my first book by Micalea Smeltzer but what a hilarious introduction. Lou is funny, quirky and definitely marches to the beat of her own drum. The banter between Lou and Abel will keep you laughing. Loved that Lou is not some tiny, model sized girl and the handsome, star football player finds her gorgeous. I am looking forward to discovering more by this author.
Ok, this book was sexy & hilarious! DSR has to probably be my fave book by this author. Lou & Abel’s chemistry was off the charts & I still can’t quit giggling. Such an adorable romcom you don’t want to miss to read!
