Open House Heist is Book 5 in the FUN and FANTASTIC Lily Sprayberry Realtor Cozy Mystery Series.
Lily receives this note and that is the beginning of this fantastic mystery:
You solve new murders and uncover old crimes,
but can you save someone from doing hard time?
To return what was lost, solve my riddle at all costs.
Travel back to ’83 and the murder of a girl from Forsyth County.
This mystery has to do with stolen coins dating back to a 36 year old cold case Murder.
I did not figure it out at all!
Not only that, I absolutely love the well defined characters and the unexpected ending.
Highly recommend this fantastic cozy mystery!
Lily is pressed into investigating a very old cold case when her open house is burglarized and she is told she can get the expensive property back if she solves the old case. So what is a girl gonna do to protect her reputation in the real estate community, why investigate of course! Very good characters enhance an interesting and intriguing plot that will keep you turning pages until you reach the end. This is a fun series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!
This is an interesting book in that there are two mysteries to solve, a 35 year old cold murder case of a teenage girl and who took the valuable collection from a home Lily is showing. She needs to solve the cold murder case in order for the thief to return the valuable collection. I enjoyed the way the story progressed. I figured out the cold case murder before the reveal but I had no idea who the thief was.
I find the characters engaging, especially the older ones who are always getting into some mischief. There is a surprising romance in this one.
I have enjoyed the two books I’ve read in this series.
Lily and friends have a cold case to solve in this latest book. This one has humor, mystery, relationships, and a lot going on. The ending came as a surprise which I love. These characters are well developed and are beginning to feel like old friends. This cozy mystery is a must read for fans! I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
This time Lily and her friends are faced with a cold case murder that takes place in 1983! Will Lily be able to solve it amidst twists and turns, hysterical friends, beauty makeovers, and entertaining photo shoots? You will just have to read it to find out! I highly recommend this book and series!
Lily, the premium realtor in Bramblett County, has a problem. During an open house, a valuable coin collection has disappeared. However, the coins have been replaced by a note asking Lily to solve an 35 year old murder in order to have the collection returned. Dylan, her fiancé, agrees to allow her to investigate the old case while he investigates the coin theft. Lily works the case interviewing friends and relatives of the victim.
This is the fifth book in the series and the story keeps getting better. I’m looking forward to the next chapter.
Lily and Belle have an open house, and oh no, a very valuable coin collection has disappeared under their watch! When locking up the home after the open house, inside the box in place of the coins there is a note meant specifically for Lily asking her to solve a cold case of a murder of a 17 year old girl that happened long ago. Once the murder is solved the collection will be returned to her. Victim Jenny Rawlings was found in a shallow grave by the side of the road by a maintenance worker over 30 years ago, but the case was never solved. After reviewing the deputy sheriff’s notes from over three decades ago, she is horrified to see that Old Man Goodson was the primary suspect and is determined to clear his name! Lily and Belle work diligently to uncover the murderer before the owners of the house/coin collection return, but as they get farther along with the case, the more questions need to be answered. In addition, Lily is a little distracted by the numerous wedding plans that need to be made for her upcoming nuptials to one sexy sheriff. There is another romance budding as well with their beloved Millie and an old flame that added another very entertaining bit to the story line. Will Lilybit and Belle find the murderer and get the coin collection back in time, and also clear the name of their good friend? Or will this case of the very unfortunate murder of a young lady remain unsolved? I love all of the Lily Sprayberry books, but I really think this is the best one yet!
Open House Heist by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson was the best one yet in this series. The plot is fast paced with plenty of twists and turns, red herrings, several suspects and all of the characters that I have grown to love in Bramblett County.
The case starts when Lily has a heist occur during an open house. There’s a note left enticing her to solve a 36 year old murder if she wants the stolen items to be returned. Lily, Belle and Dylan all work together to solve this one. Henrietta and Bonnie make a brief appearance with their gentleman friends in a sunflower patch. Don’t ask, just read the book. I laughed till I cried. I love those women. This was an awesome afternoon of reading and I’m ready for the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
Lily not only has to solve a cold case, but she needs to help Dylan find and return the stolen coins. Can Lily do it? Will the cold case be solved? I love reading about Lily, her friends, their closeness/affection for each other, and their Community. I love the way Carolyn adds romance for not only Lily and Dylan but also Belle and Matthew to take the story from good to great. It seems that her gang of seniors will be expanding from five to six soon with some help from Lily and Belle. I can hardly wait to see how that plays out in future stories.
Solving a heist leads to investigating a cold case murder!
Someone in the fictional southern small town of Aspenson, Georgia believes there is not a mystery that Lily cannot solve. But the method employed to recruit her help to solve a decades old unsolved murder is less than honorable (in my opinion). Nevertheless, Lily is determined to solve both the current mystery and cold case.
I love reading about Lily and her friends and their lives. There is always a little romance added to the story to take it from good to great. It seems that her gang of seniors will be expanding from five to six soon (with a little help from Lily and Belle). I can hardly wait to see how that plays out in future stories.
An enjoyable and entertaining clean, fun, and easy read. On to book six of the series.
During an open house a cherished coin collection comes up missing and Lily has been put to task to find the killer of a 35-year-old murder cold-case. All is not as it seems and this killer does not want to be exposed. Lily’s life quickly becomes endangered and the tension escalates right to the climactic ending. Great read! Another mystery solved!
Great book! Love Lily, Dylan, and Belle and charming Bramblett County, Georgia. Lily finds a coin collection missing at one of her open houses with a note saying that she will get it back if she solves a 35 year old murder. Lily is determined to solve this case even though one of her good friends is a suspect. Lots of intrigue in trying to solve this cold case. The four seniors are a hoot as always as well. Can’t wait for more of this delightful Southern series.
Unfortunately for me this one was not one of my favorites in this series. I knew who the killer was by the 3rd chapter and why. It was hard to not know why Lily didn’t figure it out far before she actual did. She is a smart woman but I don’t think it showed in this case. Not every book can win it out of the park but overall I still like this series.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Open House Heist is a wonderful book. It is interesting and fun. Lily works to solve two mysteries, one a cold case. They are many humorous and entertaining scenes in this book. I love the characters. The book is well written and detailed, with well developed characters. I really enjoyed this book.
