He’s about to let in his enemy and call her a guest… Come to the dark side, where the romance is still sweet.Phoenix Addler wants one thing: to live on his little patch of land and be left alone. He hasn’t been into the town of Forbidden Lake in years, and that’s just the way he likes it. After all, there’s grocery delivery even to the woods, and he doesn’t need everyone staring at him the way … staring at him the way they did when his fiancée left him standing at the altar on their wedding day.
If only Allegra Wright would stop filing injunctions with the Division of Natural Resources to try to take his land. He lives in a remote corner of his family’s cherry orchard, which goes right up against the State Park, and she’s got it in her pretty little head that he needs to go.
Allegra has never gotten along with Phoenix, though he’s tall, broad-shouldered, and gorgeous. When her ex-boyfriend chases her one night, she uses her knowledge of the woods to get away from him. The problem? She ends up at Phoenix’s house, in desperate need of help.
He takes her in, the flame between them as hot as ever. But it’s different now. He’s…nice. Kind. Hard-working. And did she mention gorgeous? The longer she stays in his remote cabin as his guest, the less she wants to leave.
With his help, she finally gets a restraining order in place against her ex, who’s been stalking her. She doesn’t realize until afterward how hard it was for Phoenix to come to town, but he did it…for her.
Phoenix can’t believe it, but he’ll do anything for Allegra. Anything. But will he have to endure another broken heart? Can Allegra find a way to take their relationship out of the shadows without putting them both at risk?

The Lumberjack’s Secret Guest is book 2 in the Forbidden Lake series by Elana Johnson.
Enemies to Lovers sweet romance with some suspense makes for a quick easy read!
This story is filled with the fear a young woman has of her ex-boyfriend turned stalker, and thankfulness to the man she has harassed the last two years trying to take his home away for the use of the Forestry Department when he opened his home to give her safety during the blizzard. This situation brings the two enemies together and things go to looking up for them until hurt feelings cause her to leave and without her mind aware of her surroundings she is abducted outside her apartment building. This story is full of secrecy, fear, hurt feelings and of course love.
Sometimes we only dislike someone because we are afraid they could hurt us. Phoenix and Allegra are both strong people who have strong convictions. When push comes to shove and one needs to bend they allow their attraction to bloom into what they always feared it could be, love. I really like this book. This new series is just wonderful. I didn’t want to put it down and when I finished I couldn’t help but wonder how long I have to wait for the next one. Great job Elana!!
I enjoyed this book that I read it in 2 days. It was an easy ready and very enjoyable at the same time! It was a great story with some great characters. I am going to read the other books in this series. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone book.
A great clean romance dealing with a stalker. It is can be read as a stand alone but is linked in a series. Great continuation of the series of the Addler family.
The Adler family is proving to be an interesting one. Jon and Cassie set the pace and now Phoenix and Allegra have stepped up. This was a fun story to read, so much intrigue and drama. Phoenix’s self-imposed isolation has come crashing down. It is fun to see these adversaries attempt to bury the hatchet or axe in this case. A well-developed story line and interesting characters make this a fun book. I look forward to Liam’s story.
Start with a Hatfield & McCoy style feud between the lead characters, add a crazy stalker ex, and a case of terminal embarrassment that turned one strong man into a hermit. This book has lots of tension and emotion, and it pulled me into Phoenix and Allegra’s story right from the first words. I loved watching the way everything played out between the pair as they worked past their initial hate, and the adorable way the book ends. I may have just missed it, but I don’t remember seeing an explanation for what caused the big rift between Phoenix and Allegra in the first place. And while I loved everything else about this book, not knowing what started the fued left this feeling a bit unfinished for me.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
A romantic suspense that I couldn’t put down. These two are enemies turned into so much more. A book that made me “feel” and think about even after I finished it. Great series.
