Every good girl deserves a very bad boy… marriage to none other than that notorious Lord Lichfield, Jo is in shock. How could she possibly marry the man she suspects of stealing the diamond?
Lord Felix Lichfield is desperate for a wife after rumors of his wickedness cause his fiancé to call off the engagement, but he never suspected his mother would stoop so low as to find a bride for him without his involvement. But when he meets the feisty Miss Hodges, things begin to look up. Except that he suspects his new fiancée has heard all about his reputation and wishes embrace it just when he would do anything to put that part of his life behind him.
There is more going on than meets the eye, though, and when Jo and Felix team up to hunt the diamond thief—and to explore their passions while they’re at it—anything could happen.
A light-hearted, fun, SUPER steamy, Regency romp—a quick read, not to be taken too seriously.

Actually, I think this story is way more than a Regency romp not to be taken too seriously (although I do love those books, they are such easy reads and wonderfully fun). There is the ongoing mystery of the missing diamond but I think the real story is Felix and his vulnerabilities. He wants to change and Jo is the woman to help him to learn that he is not a slave to those around him and that he should be himself and be happy. Oh and the smexy times are so good.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
No innocent lady.
A short read that’s lighthearted, funny and steamy, with a couple made for each other. It doesn’t get better than that. Love this series!
Fun, quick read. Probably a little too kinky for the times –
A delightful regency romp that takes us back to Miss Dobson’s Finishing School and one Josephine Hodges! Well it was more like a school for inmates, er, ladies that had been involved in some type of scandal. Jo and her friend Caro were on the hunt for a stolen diamond and the adventures they get into!
But Jo is in for a stunning announcement when he mother retrieves her and announces her engagement to the wicked Lord Lichfield. What? No, not the man she thinks has stolen that diamond! Felix is in need of a wife so he can silence all the rumors about him but then finds out his mother has arranged the bride herself? Of course when he meets Jo, he determines they may just suit.
Prepare to be entertained and get your fan because the pages might go up in flames as you turn them! A fun, lighthearted romance that can be read as a standalone. But read the first book, you will enjoy!
Excellent entertainment. Jo suddenly finds a marriage has been arranged for her. How advantageous her intended is a suspect in a diamond theft she’d like to solve! Caught in her first attempt at snooping, she’s in for some very pleasurable surprises.
I enjoyed reading this romp.
I’m continuing to read this series which does not take itself too seriously, it is for fun and it is rightfully what it is.
Josephine and Felix were introduced in the previous book, they are both sweet and quite naughty characters, not shying away to take what they want.
Felix was shamed because the excess in his sexual life while Jo was shunned for being too curious.
So when their mothers thought that betrothed them will quiet them, they miscalculate, they for once made no error and brought together two persons perfect for another.
Their attraction and mutual interest in learning more about the other are what helped them to see past their mask, Felix for once dropping it to show Jo who he is really.
The background plot continues, now to Caro and Rufus story next week to see to its conclusion.
4.5 stars
Miss Josephine Hodges was sent to Miss Dobson’s Finishing School, little more than a reformatory for ruined girls, after she made just one slip up. The awful school has been made bearable because of the friends she’s made there, especially as she helps them investigate the theft of the Chandramukhi diamond. Jo’s world is rocked again when her mother descents on the school to inform her that she is to be married to Lord Felix Harlow, the Earl of Lichfield and the very man she suspects of stealing the diamond.
After the revelation of his rather salacious proclivities in the bedroom, which led to a broken engagement, Felix is ready to put that lifestyle behind him. He can admit to himself that for some time now his heart hasn’t been in the act of fulfilling the secret desires of high society ladies. No, he’s ready to settle down and have a family of his own. He just can’t believe his mother has taken it upon herself to find him a wife without consulting him first. Though when he meets Jo, he thinks it may not be so bad after all, even if it does seem as if she’s already heard all about his tarnished reputation and wants to explore it just when he’s ready to give it up.
All bets are off when Felix and Jo rapidly bond and decide to hunt the diamond thief as a team. While they fail to catch the thief, they discover a bond with someone who accepts them as they are.
This book was light and fun and very steamy but it also dealt with a great deal of vulnerability and lack of self esteem and was very well done. The diamond mystery continues and I’ll look forward to the next book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Happy 1 Year Publication Birthday!
This is what it says in the book information and I agree 100%:
“A light-hearted, fun, SUPER steamy, Regency romp—a quick read, not to be taken too seriously.”
It IS a very tongue-in-cheek story (as is the rest of this series, so far) and that makes it the perfect read while in isolation because of the Covid-19 virus or, in fact, at any other time
Full of very funny moments, witty banter, some unusual and very hot scenes, Felix and Jo’s romance story sets the pages on fire.
The investigation into the missing diamond continues and I look forward to the next episode of this exciting tale.
This one also goes onto my ‘recommended’ pile!
