This book is a gem and one I found hard to put down. The author has created a serial killer unlike any ever seen in literature. The defining nature is the question: when is a serial killer not a murderer? – oft posed in the book and when properly answered is a mind-blowing concept.
This is the second book of the Glimpse series and in my view, this is the best work so far. The killer is someone who’s entirely fascinating to read about. The Moonlighting-esque interplay between Rick and Pat keeps the pages turning too. It does seem that Rick and Pat are married to the wrong people and a spouse swap might be the answer to all the angst. Of course, we all remember Moonlighting and nothing could put that humpty dumpty back together after Dave and Maddie did it.
Brilliant from start to finish and one that deserves a special place on the mantle. A murder mystery about a serial killer like you have never read before. Spectacular and makes the reader excited for book three (coming out September 11).
Recommended to every reader who enjoys a good crime mystery.
My Rating: 5+ stars
This is set in australia and it’s such a refreshing change to normal mystery/thriller books.
The setting is described very well and It felt like I got transported to this place because it was described so beautifully.
Its packed full of tension and mystery and drama that it will keep you reading until the end.
This is an edge of your seat psychological thriller. When The Sgt and his detective get called to a body found in a cave they didn’t expect to see what they did as they searched the cave they find five other bodies of young women murdered but they had no signs of how they died all were dressed and had a wreath of flowers on their stomachs when psychologist an profiler Pat joins the team. She helped them solve the last serial killer case almost dying in the process. There is hot sexual chemistry between lead investigator and the doc but will they act on it?there are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain I can hardly wait to see what’s next by this multi talented author.
Wow- what a thriller- the eeriness of the caves, the young ladies ceremoniously laid out in them, the mind of the killer all drew me in as I quickly turned the pages. The major theme when is a serial killer not a murderer is such an interesting riddle posed in this story. . This second book can be read as a standalone as I did. However, I am definitely reading the first book so I can further understand Rick and Pat’s relationship. A gripping novel.
An emotional and intriguing read – loved the insights into the serial killer mind! Well thought out plot with interesting characters – loved being reacquainted with Rick and Pat. I found myself totally fascinated throughout the story and found it scary but intriguing too to see things through the killer’s eyes.
Glimpse, The Beautiful Deaths
by Stephen B King
Glimpse, The Beautiful Deaths is an engaging and fascinating psychological mystery/thriller, that pulls the readers in. A spectacular and mind boggling, serial killer story that stirs the reader with every page. Blood-chilling, page-turning with a romantic under-current and other element of surprise. Glimpse can be read as a stand-alone, the readers will get enough information to understand what has happened in the series storyline; although references to what went on before, make the readers wish to have read the other books first.
Glimpse, a well-written book by a brilliant author, Stephen B King; takes the readers behind of scenes of a crime spree. The author has created interesting characters that are intense and well-developed; with emotional interpretations that take the readers on a journey effortlessly. The wonderful writing aspects Mr. King has in detailing in the visualization of the acts being played out in the story, the raw emotional edge and intrigue that pulls the reader in and keeps the readers on the edge of their seats and looking for more.
This is my first book by author Stephen B King, the writing is excellent, hard to put down and obviously the readers will get wrapped up in the story. I love everything about the Glimpse series so far. I am a new fan of Stephen B. King writings and I will be reading the other books in this series. I look forward to Book 3 (coming out September 11), just enough time to read Book 1, before then! I recommend this gem, Glimpse and the series, to every reader who enjoys a good crime mystery. This book Glimpse and its author both are receiving 5-stars.
A body of a beautiful girl is found in a cave and there is no sign of how or why she died. The author takes us behind of scenes to see the lives if a serial killer and the detectives that end his crime spree. It was fascinating to read what the profiler was able to deduct from the scene and evidence. Showed how difference avenues of investigation worked together to find this criminal. It really pulls you into the mystery and you want to find out how its solved. Not much of a fan of all the time spent on the romantic under-current between Rick and Pat but guess it added to the turmoil. Will be checking out the other two books in this series and other by Stephen B King.
this was the second book in this series and i really liked it! six bodies all young women found in a cave. laid out so nice and neat. now with her help they might just solve this case. read to find out what happens.
Not my usual genre so was not sure what to expect. I loved this book and got so pulled into the storyline I was up all night reading.
Glimpse, The Tender Killer #3 – Absolutely, the perfect ending to the Glimpse Trilogy. Tying up all the storylines from the previous two books and this one, the author has done a good job with his storytelling. The fast pace keeps the reader immersed in the pages making it difficult to put down.
I do wish an experienced editor was used; the blaring mistakes do distract from the stories.
I read the first two books to this Trilogy and found them good. My reviews were lost when my all electronics were hacked. Start with the first book since the foundations/storylines have been steadily built upon and there’s greater reading satisfaction. Of course, that’s not necessary but it’s like eating a chicken fried steak without the peppery gravy. I found this author on Booksprout. 4*
As a book lover it’s always a brilliant day when I find a new author to read and this book is just that! It’s very well written, the plot is intriguing and even though I haven’t read book 1 in this series I was easily able to follow along. The characters are very well rounded and easy to visualize. Another thing I love is when a write is able to bring psychology in to the plot and this story-line molds the psychological and the criminal together perfectly.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
“When is a serial killer not a murderer?” This is the question criminal psychologist Pat Holmes asks Sgt. Rick McCoy when they are once again paired, this time to solve the murders of six beautiful teenaged girls, over a period of six years.
Second in a series, Rick and Pat collaborate to find the killer while fighting their mutual attraction to each other. Both are embroiled in difficult marriages, and the sexual tension between them adds to the depth of the story.
The premise for the killer’s choice of victims is completely unique – as an avid crime fiction reader, I found the idea fascinating. And King does a spectacular job of taking the reader into the killer’s mind and motivations, creating a sense of empathy and understanding for him. One can’t help but feel some sorrow for him. King also lays just enough groundwork for the next story to make you anticipate its release.
The e-book does have a significant number of punctuation, some spelling, and grammar errors, but it’s a good enough read to overlook the mistakes. I reviewed this book through NetGalley.
A young girl’s body is found in a cave. She’s fully dressed with a wreath of flowers on her chest. There is no evidence of how she died …. when she died …. or any identification.
Rick McCoy and his partner, Tyler, are sent to investigate and what they find is mind boggling. There are five more bodies found in the cave … all young women, all dressed, all with wreaths of flowers on their chests. Again.. there is no evidence of how they died.
To complicate the search for a killer, criminal psychologist Patrica Holmes will be working on this case with Rick. There is an attraction between the two of them, although both are married. Rick has just reunited with his wife after having a short lived fling with another woman. Patricia’s husband is a physician and hates the idea of his wife working in the field.
And then another school girl goes missing. How long before she dies at the hand of a madman?
This is an absorbing take on a serial killer. The ‘why’ takes center stage as there are chapters where the reader gets a glimpse in the mind of this murderer.
It’s a well written page turning crime fiction. Although second in the series, this one can easily be read as a stand alone. There is enough information to keep the reader engaged without feeling lost. As always, I recommend starting with the first book, in order to pick up all those nuggets that make a good story a great story.
Many thanks to the author / The Wild Rose Press, Inc / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I love everything about the Glimpse series so far, (although each story stands alone). I’m the new biggest fan of Stephen B. King. His writing is visual, emotional, and edge of your seat intriguing. The characters are deep and develop even more throughout the stories.
This particular story has an added element that surprised me. Besides the two protagonists and the antagonist you also get a glimpse from the view of the victims. It will chill your blood.
One of the many things I love about these books is that the killer is sketched out in a way that humanizes him. He’s a type of victim as well. You actually understand why, in his way of thinking, he does the things he does. It shows you what happens when some people are pushed too far.
It’s just so hard to describe all the wonderful ways Mr. King has made this story amazing without giving away too much. It’s most definitely a must read.
