The first time I met Lily Carter, I thought she was an angel. I’m still convinced she is. She was pure. She was kind. She was Lily. Everything about her captivated me. She called to my soul. Being with her broke an unspoken rule between the Hayes’ and the Carter’s. But they broke it first when one of them started dating my sister. Now, all bets are off. Lily may be fragile, but she’s not broken, … be fragile, but she’s not broken, and it’s time people stopped treating her like she is.
I’m making Lily mine, and there’s only one thing that can stop me:
Death.
And I wouldn’t put it past a Carter to go to those lengths.
I’m willing to pay that price.
Because without her, without that piece of my soul I know she holds, I’m dead inside.

Soul of my Soul is a spin off series from the The Next Generation Carter Brother series and begins with Lily Carter and Jaxon Hayes.
You don’t need to read the Next Generation series to read this one, although I would advise it if you like to get to know the characters more.

The moment Lily Carter was brought into the Carter family she was treated like glass. Adopted by Maverick and Teagan and raised as there own, but the short life she led before that leaves her broken at times and triggers have a way of not being able to control even though she is careful about her environment.
Jaxon Hayes has always seen Lily and has held a crush on her, but she has always been untouchable. One night though changes everything and Jaxon decides that he is tired of denying his feelings for Lily and wants a shot with Lily, she is his game changer. The problem is that the Carter’s and Hayes are enemies and their love for one another is forbidden. They plan on bringing everyone into the fold but want some time to explore what they have, what happens though when the family finds out. Will it tear Lily’s family apart or make them stronger?
So I made the mistake, unbeknownst to me to read Maddox before Soul of my Soul. Lily and Jaxon story is a big plot point in Maddox book but you don’t know how or why they got together. This book fills you in and was an emotional read. Lily is stronger then what she is given credit for in previous books. Jaxon sees that with Lily and he treats her like gold but he also knows she has a back bone. Wonderful story, was better then what I expected given I had a glimpse previously into their story.
Lily & Jaxon’s Book Is Everything!!x
We finally get the ‘youngest’ original Carter Sibling’s story & we knew it would be heart breaking because we were all there when her big brother’s found her at 4 years old – malnourished, abused, neglected and God knew what else!!
Lily is a pure soul. Wants no one to suffer in life, for any reason, not if she can do anything to help!! She still fights her PTSD triggers but she’s a survivor!!
Jaxon is the oldest sibling of the Hayes clan. He’s a tough man but has had to be to keep the rowdy boys in line & to protect his family after his Dad died!! He’s viewed Lily Carter as a living Angel since he laid eyes on her at age 12 years, his opinion hasn’t ever changed!!
Although there is a lot of storyline in the book that I thoroughly enjoyed, I could have happily read one that just included them falling, it was so sweet & perfect!! The entire book runs through a vast amount of differing emotions, I went from choking on sobs to giggling like a lunatic, within the space of a few pages I love that about this Authors writing!!
I was really happy Lily’s flashbacks, although absolutely awful, didn’t go into too much dark detail. That would’ve made this book unbearable to read for me!! There was enough to let us know what shattered that poor little girl, to explain her triggers etc but it didn’t overwhelm her story & rightly so – because she’s stronger now!!
I’m really looking forward to more Hayes Family books & The Next Generation Carter Brother’s Series. These characters are just too amazing to let go of!!
