Detective Phillip Russell has been handed the case of the century. There’s only one catch. The crime lord that he’s supposed to go undercover to bring down only trusts family men and Phillip has never had much success in the dating department, let alone any experience being married. He discovers a fake dating app called Pretendr and signs up in the hopes of finding a young woman who’s willing to … to pretend to be his wife so he can get closer to the crime boss in order to put him behind bars.
Lucy Mills is a hard-working single mother who works two jobs in order to pay the bills and take care of her son, Scott. She’s hoping to get a great new job at a law firm, but the boss there isn’t interested in hiring someone with so much baggage. She decides to join the Pretendr app so she can find a stand-in husband to get the employer off her back and land the job of her dreams.
After meeting and hitting it off, Phillip and Lucy agree to help each other, but the more time they spend together, the more they realize that the feelings they have for one other are anything but fake…
The Detective’s Match is a 30,000 word standalone novella, perfect to curl up with if you’re looking for a sweet, fun, quick read on the go.

sparkling characters. I really enjoyed how their pretend relationship turned real.this was a really cute story
The romance part of the story was great but Philip’s detective case needed more depth. For one they should have been living in one place even for a pretend marriage. I think a criminal kingpin would have noticed that right away.
The Detective’s Match is another book in the Pretendr App series. This one is the story of Phillip, a detective with the Philadelphia Police Department, and Lucy, a divorced mother of one working 2 jobs to make ends meet. Phillip needs a pretend wife in an undercover sting while Lucy needs a pretend husband to land a new and better job.
I really liked the characters and the interaction between them. The author did a very nice job in giving them depth. The plot seemed a little thin and bordered more on fantasy than realism. Who in their right mind would admit in a job interview that a person wouldn’t be hired without a husband? As for the undercover job, if a man was a kingpin in a bank robbery scheme, I think it would be harder to infiltrate to the inner sanctum of criminals. However, if you want an entertaining read with little substance, this is the book for you. For enjoyment alone I would rate this a solid 3 1/2 stars.
The Detective’s Match is a cute, fun novella – perfect when you need a little escape. Phillip, Lucy and Scott are well drawn, sparkling characters. I really enjoyed how their pretend relationship turned real.

Try as I might, I could not get into the story. I was not sure where the author was going with the story. I kept waiting for something to happen and make me enjoy the book. There was so many things that did not add up and the characters were not well developed.

I’m not sure what I was expecting going in. I didn’t realize this was a series, but this just didn’t grab me. It didn’t hold my attention. It’s a novella and I found I couldn’t finish it. There wasn’t any drama and the characters didn’t do anything for me. With that being said, just because it didn’t work for me, doesn’t mean others won’t enjoy this.
The storyline was well written and the characters were very likable, believable and so engaging that I ended up reading this book in one sitting!
I have read a couple stories in this series, they are all standalone stories with no cliffhangers. This is a fast-paced story that started slow then when you get into the story it was finished. I had to reread a couple pages as it seemed I missed something but I hadn’t. Interesting storyline with really likable characters
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
Blake Andrews has written an intriguing story with an interesting plot. Yet, in my opinion, it needs a little improvement. The storyline is fast paced and not developed well enough. I would have love it if the characters got more time to grow on me.
