This is book 3 in the banished gods series and this one centres around Mir and Sydney.
The more I read of this series the better it gets.
This story has intensified and has more tension and drama.
I just love everything about this series
I adored Queen of Swords, the first book in L.A. McGinnis’ The Banished Gods series (separately reviewed) soooo much that I ran to get The Moon (Book Two) and The Priestess (Book Three) as soon as I could. It was worth doing, and I don’t even regret the massive all-in-one-sleepless-sitting of binge reading that followed as these two books were also (equally) incredibly good. Celine and Fenrir, Mir and Sydney, I can’t decide which leads had the better book but I’m happy to say they were both truly wonderful, with great writing, plots, world-building and characters. Read the publisher’s blurbs on these ad they do an good job summarizing without spoiling (and I’m trying to keep this review from getting too ling as I’m literally dictating it to my husband from my hospital bed). All that I really want to add is to simply note that each of these books is most definitely “one to read”, and each is easy to highly recommend.
Sydney left her old life behind, she believes in science, not magic. Something inside her tells her she needs to get the attention of the gods in the building she is watching. Mir, God of Wisdom, has a bad feeling about the young woman outside the building, but he needs to find out what she knows. Sydney and Mir will team up to save Earth, and humanity from annihilation.
Fascinating, and well written characters, and witty dialog that drew me in, and kept me reading well past bedtime. Wow, exciting, action packed romance with paranormal creatures, evil beings, witches, and sexy gods. Fantastic book!
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
In the 3rd book of this series, we read about Mir and Sydney. Again, I still don’t recommend anyone read this series out of order. Even though each book centers around a specific couple, the overall story arc continues and keeping everything straight really does mean you should read them in order, you won’t be sorry.
The main arc is ramping up, and even though the title of this book gives away a spoiler on it’s own, just like Return of the King title gave away a part of the Lord of the Rings. But it’s a wild ride, and the action and tension is ramping with each book. There are some good revelations in this book, and a lot of answers – but there are always more questions, but the author keeps baiting the readers and giving us enough to stay afloat. The chemistry between Mir and Syd is spot on, and the god is going to have his hands full with this one. The plot thickens, and I went straight to book four.
The Priestess
The Banished Gods (Book 3)
by L.A. McGinnis
T
he Priestess is a fascinating story filled with gods, witches and a multitude of creepy crawlies. This heart stopping tale of good versus evil, is not quite like any other; with a pleasing amount of action, drama, chaos and suspense with some romance and magic thrown in. Readers that like mythology will like this series, the way that it is woven into something new and original, putting a sensational twist to the series.
The author L. A McGinnis has a great writing talent for creating great plots, truly amazing world-building scenes and well-defined characters that are incredibly good together; a series that will pull the readers in. L.A. McGinnis’ The Banished Gods series of: Queen of Swords (book 1), The Moon (book 2) and The Priestess (book 3); does not disappoint. Each can be read as a stand-alone; but reading the other books helps to fill the back story, as is the case with most series, worth doing a binge reading. I highly recommend this series and author L.A. McGinnis; both are receiving 5-stars.
A new author for me and even though this is a five book series, I read this third book first. It didn’t ruin things at all. Mir and Sydney’s story is purely magical all on its own. The sizzling passion between the gorgeous Norse god and the ravishing red haired human witch had me reading straight through. The battle scenes between the whole group of Norse gods against the creatures of the Underworld were exciting. Now I have to plan some time on my calendar to binge on the other four books!
I have found L.A. McGinnis doesn’t disappoint when I read her stories but I have to say she outdid herself with this one. First of all, I absolutely love this whole series and highly recommend it. This one is book 3 of the series and you will find magic, action, drama, romance, suspense, gods, witches, and demons all rolled up in a well woven plot and some totally intriguing characters. Syd and Mir story is one that I totally became immersed in and found myself not able to put it down till I finished. This whole series rates way above the 5 stars rating I am allowed to give it.
I enjoyed this book
Interesting and exciting! I really enjoyed the concept and the characters. I loved the Norse mythology woven in to something new and original.
this was actually a really great book! not my usual read but i still enjoyed it! she needs help to save the world. only she might be trusting the wrong people to help her out. read to find out what happens.
Book three in this series did not disappoint. It had all the action, drama and suspense as the others with some magic thrown in. Mir meets his match when he confronts A woman standing outside The Towers with a sign she shouldn’t have. He hopes he doesn’t have to kill her. Sydney is a tall red head and full of irreverent personality. She even mouths back to Odin. She works at the museum and recognizes Celine because they both worked on a project regarding some ancient stones from Ireland that are now in Chicago. Mir, Sydney and the rest of the crew work together trying to stop the God of Chaos.
