My alien overlord is huge, all-powerful, and determined to claim me. Every human girl growing up on New Terrhan knows one thing … that she will be taken by one or several Xalthurian males when she turns twenty-one. The Xalthurians are rough, domineering, and huge all over, but this is the deal our leaders struck so that they would provide our human colony with desperately needed supplies. If the … desperately needed supplies.
If the baby born from our taking is a girl, we will be allowed to keep it. If the baby is a boy, it will be taken away, never to be seen again. That is the way it has always been on our small planet and that is the way it will always be.
I should accept my fate, but I can’t. When they come for my sister’s baby boy, I dare to defy the alien, they call “Tel.” As it turns out, “Tel” means prince. But rather than killing me for my insolence, the future overlord vows to return to the planet. When I am twenty-one.
He’s huge, all-powerful, and determined to claim me.
Can I stop him?
And how will I answer when the question becomes, do I want to?

Great read if…you like Sci-fi/Alien romance, hot scenes, royalty, and an HEA.
Side Note: THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. There are books that make you remember why you love reading and books that make you fall in love with it all over again, and this was the latter. The characters were incredible. The pacing perfect. The steam, chemistry, and execution of various sexual encounters outstanding. While the “plot twist” felt predictable to me, I didn’t even care. I was so wrapped in the story and so in love with the characters, it didn’t matter. From the moment I started, finishing the book, being lost in the novel, was purely wonderful. The writing was easy to read, had a great flow, and didn’t drag at any point. I cannot highly recommend grabbing this book enough, but I am going to keep trying, lol.
The team of Theodora Taylor and Eve Vaughn is one that we’ve been missing in romance. And thank goodness we now have it! This book was ah-mazing! Unbelievable world-building, wonderful, unique characters, a strong heroine and alpha male who is humbled by his woman, scorching heat, a great story line with a bit of suspense, and the best romance and HEA ever! I can’t wait for the next book in this series and the hint of a spin-off!!
Learning to understand
This book has so many ups and downs, but that really makes for the perfect sci-fi romance. The author took the whole two species who don’t understand each other and ran with it. The story was interesting and the characters intriguing, but it did travel right to the edge of going too far without going over. In fact I think that element made an even more fantastic read. I really felt bad for Kira towards the end when she discovered the true nature of one she trusted, but luckily the author took pity on her, and us, helping her to reach her HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I enjoyed this book
Hot hot alien heat. I was real leery of this genre for awhile, and don’t like to go too far beyond humanoid heroes. This was another great compromise and had all the steamy benefits of ‘otherwordly’ romance!
Worth the price! A keeper. Originally read it as KU, now I’m gonna buy a copy to keep!
SO. AWESOME.
This book ROCKS! I couldn’t put this book down. The characters are incredibly well-formed. The pacing and plot are dead-on. They sex-scenes are HOT! Seriously did not want this book to end and can’t wait for the next one in the series! Great job Taylor Vaughn!!
Couldn’t put this book down.
Get ready to lose some sleep. I did. I couldn’t put this book down. The plot is edgy, the characters are intense and some of the scenes are disturbingly realistic. I can’t imagine Kira, the lead female, having to see her sister go the way she did. I almost hope that she didn’t actually end there, maybe she got snatched or picked up and will end up in another book later. The body was never recovered after all. D’Rek had some redeemable traits, and the story has him growing, reverting, learning, fumbling, but eventually getting it right. You know, like real people do. I’ve read some reviews where the readers took this fictionalized story personally, but it’s just fiction, and the story is intense and highly readable. I couldn’t put it down honestly. The yearly ritual is brutal, but, you know Maya Angelou said, “When you know better, do better,” and that’s the real message I got from this story, that a change for the better is possible when confronted with a better way of doing something. The bad guy and his sinister plan……dude, I know this is not the last of him. I’m left wondering, where is the secret lab? What’s with the special prisoner? Will they be able to save the home planet or will the tusked and hairy aliens get there first? How did Zinnia ….wait, that’s the next book, yeah? I can’t wait!
This is two new Authors to me I found this to be a well written book that once I started reading I was not putting down until I finished it. I know I want the next book. So much has happened to the people of New Terrhan every woman of the age of twenty-one will be given to a Xalthurian male or males to impregnate, and then sent back. If they have a boy the baby is taken, if it is a girl she is left with the mother. Kira a Human, and D’ Rek the Alien King do not get off to a good start, they must come to understand one an other and the people they are. I read a copy through KU and I am voluntarily reviewing.
His To Claim by Taylor Vaughn
Genres: Adult, Erotic, Romance, Sci-Fi, Suspense
5 Full Stars
Yes, my copy has a few editing errors. There are a couple of sentence structure problems & words that need correction.
But! (and I do not say this carelessly),
Even with those instances, this story is STILL a solid 5 stars!
The flow is smooth. The story itself is fast paced.
The world build is absolutely amazing. In fact, I have to say,
Best Sci-Fi I have read in a very, very long time.
The various species are well defined. Their cultures, while alien, are not ridiculous nor absurd.
The mc’s, Kel D’Rek (The Xalthurian) & Kira (The human from the planet New Terrhan) are amazingly well represented and you will fall in love with both of them.
Their relationship is complex, filled with misunderstandings, emotions, language barriers and cultural differences.
Their intimate scenes are adult. Hot, steamy and beautifully erotic. These scenes are always written in perfect harmony to the story. You never feel like it is just thrown in.
Suspense! Oh My God! The suspense keeps you on your toes and vibrating with that wonderful tensity only truly well done suspense can bring us addicted readers.
There is deceit and treachery.
Betrayal.
Unscrupulous Manipulations.
There is the Kaidorians who have some of the same problems as the Xalthurians.
I didn’t just enjoy this story. I ATE IT UP!
The authors and this series is definitely going on my favorites shelf and I will shortly be clicking the follow button.
I wait with great anticipation for the next book in this series!

A definite reread. It’s a Awesome, totally original, unique, sexy, entertaining and unbelievable book! A must read
A wicked dark romance with a HEA. Great for those who aren’t normally Alien romance fans!
I had no idea I liked alien, sci-fi romance until I read this book. Theodora Taylor is one of my 1-click authors, so when I saw that she collabed on this, it was a no-brainer. I probably read this book in 1,5 days – that’s how much I enjoyed it. I’ve read all of them (this review is super tardy) and am patiently waiting for the fourth book to drop.
Audiobook Review:
I loved this story so so much. Bossy aliens and sassy women of color? Sign me up. I flew through this book. The plot was great, the characters were really well developed but what really kept me hooked was the emotion the story evoked and how it kept me entranced. This book is not something at all set in our world, so I don’t think our rules or how we would do things should be forefront in your mind while reading this. But if you’re looking for a book you can just settle in and devour because you just don’t want to stop reading, this is a must.
I also really loved the narrator. I’ve only heard her on a few other books, but love her performance. She really does an amazing job without it feeling over blown or over acted. I am not even hesitating to grab the next book. I need more from this series, this author duo, and this narrator.
This has a totally ridiculous premise and I loved it. Dirty sex with hot aliens: what’s not to love? And, they want desperately for children! Good world building too, although I would think the earth males would object more to their women being used essentially as incubators for alien babies.
It’s been a while since I read ‘his to claim’ so some of the details have faded. I’m planning on buying the second book in the series (something I don’t often do) because I liked this one so much.
Toss Up-
Interesting plot and characters. But this book was too similar to Venomous in all but the color of the alien and how well written Venomous was.
The world-building is lacking, the inconsistent vernacular of the current time period vs previous time period was inconsistent and the chemistry between the hero and heroine is just, meh, not to mention how predictable the plot was. I won’t bother with book 2.
