When Mina Fischer boards what is dubbed the Bridal Train to Kansas, she is well aware of her duties to her soon-to-be husband. Though being a quiet girl raised in the country, she knows better how to talk to sheep and horses than men. Still, she must try to be engaging and helpful to her new husband—whoever he may be. Her only hope is that the Espousal Alliance Office will find her a match who … does not mind her simple ways. And if he enjoys animals as much as she does, all the better.
George Lawrence is not entirely prepared to be married, but who ever is? His fellow directors of the railroad he’s invested in are encouraging him to take a wife, so as to appear more stable, helping them receive the government land grant they need. Somehow he finds himself with a shy little bride, wondering how to get on with her when he is so social and she seems to have come from another world.
While Mina flounders with her new duties, which are nothing like farm chores back in Virginia, George is taken for a wild ride with his lovely wife who is so full of strange and amusing ideas, including the number of animals that should be allowed to sleep in their bed. She worries over whether or not she pleases George, but unfolding events reveal how resourceful she is—but will she help or hinder him?

I have to say from the very beginning I really liked the character of George. He hadn’t given a whole lot of thought about a wife and family but yet he jumped on board. The parts that I liked the most was that he recognized that Mina was raised differently and while there were times he was frustrated with her, he never yelled at her or purposely made her feel bad. Even with the whole animal thing, he questioned it but didn’t stop her from her animals.
I liked the character of Mina. She was a hard working woman who wasn’t use to the finer things in life. She almost found them trivial. She wanted to be a good wife to George but there were parts of her she didn’t want to give up.
This was a couple that genuinely wanted to give this arranged marriage a try and be there for the other.
She is on the bridal train hoping to find a husband. She is very shy and is happier with animals. He knows they want him to have a wide so he gets one but she is so different to him. Can they find a middle ground? Will they have a good marriage? Can it work as they are so different? See if they can make it

“Mina” (The Bridal Train Book 2) by Emberly Hart is a terrific read. I enjoyed Mina and George’s story. I also enjoyed meeting Amanda and Halina. This is an entertaining, sweet, historical romance, with humor, family, and more. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. Highly recommend to all fans of historical romance, and series.
Sweet, western romance…
I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of mail-order brides. The reasons why someone would enter into a marriage when you didn’t know this person or even knew anything about them! How desperate, brave (or crazy!) they must have been. Mina and George did just that and, luckily for them, neither were serial killers or in the least bit crazy…
Country and city met in marriage and hoped, for both their sakes it would work out. Shy vs confident. Natty suits vs homespun dresses. Show home vs homemade cheese. I loved the pairing of two likable characters with very, very different lives. That didn’t mean they couldn’t find common ground though and that they did! They made me smile and hope that love could be found in this gentle and sweet romance.
I’ll definitely be boarding The Bridal Train again…

A sweet country lass meets a well to do railroad gentleman with the mail order bride train.
At first they seem to be from different worlds, but then they start understanding one another and falling into like and then love. All-in-all an awesome book. I recommend all the books in the series based on this book.

The second book in The Bridal Train series this is Mina Fischer and a director of the railway George Lawrence’s story. This story had me laughing at some of the things that happen. I enjoyed reading this story from the first to the last page. This is a couple that has to learn how to live with each others different ways of thinking. Mina Fischer is forced to go on a bridal train west and is married soon after she arrives to successful railroad investor George Lawrence. First the kitten she brought from home bites him. Then brings home a goat home and installs it in their backyard. Later she hits a man over a stray dog, which she also brings home. There is one farce after another as Mina brings home more animals and doesn’t know how to act like a proper lady after growing up on a farm. She does provide advice which aids George in getting what he wants with his fellow investors. His sisters welcome her and all the animals. But he doesn’t quite know what to do with her. There was plenty of humor and misunderstandings in his historical western romance.
