Good plot, although somewhat asking some suspension of belief. Characters are always 3 – dimensional and enjoyable to find out their character development.
A woman in a good life makes a big mistake and suffers the threat of disaster. She is strong and fights bravely to settle things.
I have enjoyed all of this series. She is a wonderful writer!
Good plot and well-developed characters. The list of suspects is unending and each has very believable motives and opportunities for committing the crime. Enjoyed following the flow of the story.
I love this series. The author does a great job moving the story along.
I have read many of the “The Advocate’s” series and enjoyed them all. This one was no exception! Great characters, realistic writing and plotting, plus done touches of humor and romance. A very enjoyable read!
Excellent
Great easy read. The story was well written – a real page turner. Kept me guessing through most of the book.
great read. couldn’t put it down. strongly recommend.
A great story for a great series!
I have read every story in THE ADVOCATE SERIES by Teresa Burrell. She is one of my favorite authors to follow. I can always count on her stories to keep me glued to the story until the end. With each book, I am fascinated by the stories that she creates and the wonderful cast of characters she has assembled and developed throughout the series. Each story is a stand-alone; however, reading in order will prevent spoilers.
Another story that hits close to home, both to J.P.’s and Sabre in this book. Sabre is juggling multi-cases as usual. Family drama is wrapping around J.P. in all sorts of ways. To make matters even more complicated, J.P.’s family drama has spread into Sabre’s professional life.
Ms. Burrell is a master storyteller. This story is well-written, entertaining, and romantic mystery. I enjoyed it thoroughly and I highly recommend this book. I am anxious to read the next book of the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book in the continuing Advocate series.
We see a lot of JP since it is his nephew that is accused of murder. I found it interesting that he enjoyed the responsibility of caring for his niece while the parents fitness was being determined. Sabre helps out even while defending Conner and trying to catch another criminal from a different case. There is a hiccup in JP and Sabre’s relationship due to one of them jumping to conclusions that I personally found amusing. If folks would just talk to one another life could be so much more peaceful!
As usual Teresa Burrell does not disappoint.
Uncle Johnny?
JP answers his doorbell late one evening to find a young girl named Morgan looking for her “Uncle Johnny.” Seems her daddy told her if she or her older brother got into a situation they couldn’t handle, to find their uncle, Johnny Torn. Seems her daddy was Gene Torn, JP’s estranged brother. The girl’s older brother Connor was arrested for murder, Gene was in prison, and her mother “partied” when Gene wasn’t home, which seemed to be most of the time. Attorney Sabre Brown, child advocate and JP’s lady love, along with Bob Clark, Sabre’s best friend, joined forces to find a home for Morgan, free Conner from juvenile hall, and discover who was the true murderer of Bullet, the universally disliked scumbag.
I liked the focus on JP in the book. So many JPisms! “Tight as the rusted lug nuts on a ’55 Ford” and “That tastes so good it’ll make your tapeworm stand up and bark.” I didn’t expect the tenderness he showed to his niece and nephew; that was a treat. I tasted the flavor of his younger self and family before showing up in Sabre and Bob’s lives.
In “The Advocate’s Justice”, author Teresa Burrell weaves an entangling web of families’ love, hate, and indifference, carrying emotional baggage from years past and some not so past, ending with a startling conclusion. This book is a terrific read, difficult to put down (making my nights very short), and certainly a triumph for Teresa.
Congratulations, my friend, Teresa. You’ve got an instant classic on your hands!
I found one of the main story lines to be totally unbelievable. The book was good enough for me to finish, but I didn’t enjoy it enough to read any more books in the series.
Flat writing vapid characters
Well written police drama set in Scotland
JP Torn answering the door just before midnight, a ten year old girl wanting to get her brother out of jail, he was all of fifteen. The deceased was the abusive boyfriend of the grandmother of who’s house they were living in.
Why and where did a kid that young have a gun. The father was in prison, who was he, it was my long lost brother. Bringing Sabre in as my friend an attorney. The case looked solid against the boy, and the home life they were under was a nightmare of parties and drugs. The uncle has big changes now with his niece and nephew.
