I normally read romance/paranormal romance, so I’ve forgotten how much I truly love a thriller – especially a military thriller!! The book was well-written, fast-paced, full of action and twists. I picked it up and didn’t put it down until after I’d finished it. The characters were wonderful and I can’t wait to read more adventures involving them!

This is my first time reading this author and I loved this book. There is lots of action that keeps the plot moving along at a nice pace. The writing is great and really brings the scenes and the characters to life making them realistic. Heading straight in to reading book 2 in the series.

Such a great start to this series! Mason is a retired SEAL. He promised his dying wife he would protect their daughter above all else. He agrees, having no idea how soon he will have to keep his promise. He comes home one day to find his house ransacked and his daughter missing. He will need every one of his “old” skills, and the help of a friend, to save Clara. I love the intrigue, drama, danger that plays against his guilt make Mason such a likable character and you will come to love and respect Clara. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Mason Walker has been a retired Navy SEAL for the fifteen years since his wife’s death, rearing his daughter, Claire, quietly. But when he comes home at noon one summer day, he finds his home in a wrecked mess, and his daughter kidnapped. This author is new to me, but this book is one heck of a thriller as Mason must follow impossible directions, that have him calling on past cohorts he hardly knows who to trust! I will be watching for more books from this writer!
This fantastic thriller was a real page turner with the great storyline and well detailed characters that kept me hooked throughout the entire book!
This fast paced thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat. Mason is a retired Navy Seal who is raising his daughter after his wife’s death. They live a quiet, reclusive life away from the horrors of his past career. Everything changes for Mason when his daughter is kidnapped and he is forced to revert to some old ways. No shortage of drama, danger or covert action. Well written with strong characters and an engaging story. I read an advance reader copy and voluntarily chose to review.
This is an entertaining read that you have to work at staying focused. The storyline is like any other thriller read with the same plot twists. Like I have said in the past, the author needs to make the story his, Fill out the characters, world build and plot and own the story. This novel while entertaining was like a rerun, not new.

A thriller that brings a former SEAL into action to protect his daughter. The story has a lot of twists and turns which makes you want to finish reading it so you know who is the mastermind behind all. Entertaining!

The Search – Oh. My. Gosh! What tripe; was this written by a junior high kid? The writing style is lacking. The author does not pull me into his world. His descriptions lack the visualization good storytelling provides. His characters are flat; no life, no personalities. The dialogues are unrealistic. Sadly, I volunteered for all four books of this series hoping to find a new author. Should have known when the books appeared on Booksprout Sunday with the due date four days later that I was asking for disappointment. 2*
The Warrior – Howell still has not convinced me to get interested in his world. I do appreciate he uses uppercase for God, but why not mom and dad? Even after two books, I still do not care for the writing style, the characters or their dialogues. Action scenes just remind me too much of Hollywood instead of the real deal. 2*
The Cleansing – Well, Howell is consistent and I am extremely sorry to have selected these four books but I enjoy reading action series like Modeen or Rex Dalton. Well, can’t win them all. I got to about 75 percent before my eyes crossed and rolled back into my head and I started skimming. Still the same complaint, lack of storytelling skills. Juvenile, instead of experienced. 2*
The Dark Underground – Made it to Chapter 28 and then refused to read another word. This author’s writing style is not for me, nor are his characters and his dialogues. 2*
Omg this was a new to me author and I will definitely be looking forward to more from them.
When I realized this book was set in the future I was concerned, but it was completely unjustified. Instead it has me hoping for some of the things in this book.
This was a page turner from page 1 that has you rooting for father and child. The twists and turns will blow your mind.
ONE EXPLOSIVE ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Man, talk about living dangerously. This had to have been a suicide mission into hell. Always just one step away from disaster and holding your breath praying for the best but preparing for the worst. Weighing each struggle after struggle through life altering decisions. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. One amazing storyline and thrilling plot bring this read roaring to life brilliantly. The characters are realistic with personalities and depth that screamed for respect and drew you in, you give it willingly as sparks fly and danger ensues in epic proportions. Twixt and twined and put through the wringer with all the drama, fear, uncertainty and suspense dogging their heels every step of the way with nerve racking intensity. One wild rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions that cut wide and deep drawing our feelings front and center. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. Alex draws us so deeply into his imagination as he weaves a world around us so tightly until everything else ceases to exist. Remarkable job Alex, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
