Valkyrie 101 is book one of the Afterlife Academy: Valkyrie, an urban fantasy academy series with an f/f romance.
The Afterlife Academy specialises in teaching paranormals how to help human souls pass onto the next phase, whether that’s by guiding them gently, preparing them for rebirth, or cutting them loose with a scythe.

I can’t wait for this book! The world Arizona has created for it is rich in detail and the characters each have their own complex agendas. It really is the merging the best in urban fantasy, academy and romance. You’re not going to want to miss it.
I was so caught up in the story that I had to download the next one immediately. I love the characters and the story is so original. I really started to think about the afterlife and how this might work. Get imaginary. The narrator was very good as well. I just can’t wait to start the next book.
I couldnt put this book down, once I started I was drawn into intrigue and excitment of the plot and the engaging characters. This is definately a series I want for follow, I liked the narration by Aleksi Graves.

This was an incredible start to a new series! Ylva is starting her journey at Afterlife Academy, the school for training afterlife assistants, in hopes to become a Valkyrie. Nothing is like she thought it would be- a wood elf is training to become a Valkyrie instead of a Reaper, she has a dragon for a roommate, classes are getting cancelled left and right, and the dusk wolf and her pups go missing. Human death is at an all time high and every student’s studies are accelerated even though most first years are unsure or not knowledgeable about what they’re being taught. I really enjoyed watching Ylva grow in this book from being prejudice to accepting of other elementals. Her relationship is a very slow burn and rocky with Ryoko and I hope to see things turned around with more growth in the coming books. Pickles, Ryoko’s pet dust bunny, was completely original and I loved every scene that she was in! I can’t wait to see what happens next on Ylva’s journey and seeing the mystery unfold!

Valkyrie 101 is an interesting and original storyline. This author has created an amazing world filled with intriguing characters and a story that pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat. I need more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more.
It’s that good.
Arizona has given us a well-written original storyline concept, with intriguing characters that draw on your emotions both good and bad. There is so much going on that you can’t put the book down before you finish it. I love how you watch the main character growing and maturing during the course of the story. I can’t wait for the next installment. I recommend this book.

So this is a good academy to start. It has intrigue, a little mystery, some bullying and a confused girl. The main character is Ylva and she is going to the Academy for the afterlife. She has been wanting to become a Valkyrie since she was little. She wasn’t born in a noble family and feels that she has to accomplish a lot to bring pride and recognition for her family. She makes friends with a Dragon, Wood Elf and other Wind Children. However, it seems that she approached things wrong and messes up. She also has never been in a relationship, so she doesn’t realize when she is flirting or being friendly. She has a hard time trying to distinguish the two. Once she realizes that she has made a mistake she does try to rectify the situation. But will it be too late for friendships and maybe love. Guess we will have to wait to find out. She also stumbles across another predicament, that no one seems to know about. Can she do what is needed to be done to come out alive? This book builds up and leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to see what happens.

I started the book, feeling like I really wanted the main character to be put down a peg or two…she was rude, full of herself and just a plain pain to watch. As I progressed through the book, she calmed down, admitted that she needed help and opened herself up to new experiences. I could totally get behind a character like that!
The storyline is amazing and original – the writing is at a professional standard, the characters are intriguing and the events of the book kept me on the edge of my seat.
I really look forward to reading the next book and quietly hope that Ylva recieves her reward for working so hard on her goals.

She is finally going to learn to be a valkyrie and she is in her first year of school. It is not going to be so easy as they will be given a crash course. More and more souls need to be collected and so they are being given the chance. Can they do it? See if they can

Ylava of the West, daughter of Helga, a fierce Wind Child was determined to become a Valkyrie. She starts at the Academy to begin training to help souls pass over after death. To be a great Valkyrie she needs a Dusk Wolf to be a companion and sort of familiar. She is determined, driven and has so much to learn. But things at the Academy are not going as smoothly as possible.

This is the first book in the authors new Afterlife Academy series. This is a very interesting story with a very likeable main character. Although we see that Ylva has plenty of growing up to do I hope that we get to watch it throughout the series.

Tape has created an interesting world. Ylva has been accepted into the Afterlife Academy. She is single-minded, ambitious, and a little bit, okay a lot, oblivious when it comes to relationships. I liked seeing Ylva become more aware and open-minded. Ryoko is an interesting character, and I liked watching their relationship begin. This is a slow burn f/f, an I can’t wait to see the relationship continue to build and see what happens with the Afterlife Academy 🙂
