A driven company executive and a hard-working mechanic must set aside their differences and try to work together. After spending the last fourteen years raising his twin sisters, Ben Baxter is ready to start his own diesel repair business. But the big trucking company he works for asks him to move to Pennsylvania and manage their home terminal shop, which is located in his home town. Ben has to … town. Ben has to turn the offer down—his estranged family thinks he’s married and he won’t show up without a wife at his side. His sisters, ever resourceful, hatch a plan to get their brother “married.”
Riley Coleman has been tasked with turning the underperforming home terminal shop of her family’s company into a profit-turning masterpiece. She’s worked her butt off for the company, and is determined to get the corner office her father has promised if she is successful. The key to pulling it off is getting the best shop manager. She knows the perfect man. Unfortunately, he’s not interested…unless she agrees to his terms.
Can they work together despite their painful past and the sparks that still fly between them?

OK I admit it I read this one out of order and read book 3 first. Yeah it kinda mixed things up but not really. I don’t recommend it because even though these are standalone reads the story line does kind of over lap at least where Gram is concerned. With that being said I LOVED IT!!! Really what’s not to love, this author just keeps the punches coming for these two. Ben has stepped up to take care of his sisters once his mother died and left his life and half brothers without a second thought all in the name of keeping them safe. But when it all comes down to it, Gram needs him. Now Ben has to face the lies and years and own up to it all . . . well maybe not. He now has a chance to get back at the girl who has his heart, even though his clearly not her choice. She may have turned Ben away but he has never left her heart. Now she has a chance and she’s taking it. These two have done everything to support and honor those they love and bottled up their own desires to do so. It just about tore my heart into little pieces the things these two dealt with and Gram. I love this author and her style. I truly love that she gives us romance, angst, some back and forth but never too much. The balance of not being over the top and not enough isn’t easy but this author makes it look easy. I look forward to each and every book and have fallen head over heels for each and every member of this crazy family.
An amazing wonderfully well writtwn heartwarming romance. I was engaged from begiinning to end to see if these two broken people and with God’s help and lots of love can open up and get what they need from the other. Knowing each other in their earlier years , this fake marriage story was interesting following the journey as these interesting, complex characters each need something from the other. Can they find their way to a HEA. I honestly and voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I really enjoyed this book.
I thought the characters were so likeable that I was there with them
The plot had a few twists that made it interesting.
This series is one of those read each book ASAP.
This author knows how to draw the reader in and keep her reading.
Ben ran away from his dysfunctional family when he was only 14 in order to live with his mother in Maine. After his mother died, he took on the responsibility to raise his two younger sisters. Because he had great responsibilities at a very young age, he continued to work at a job where Riley Coleman is his boss. She humiliated him in high school. I mean really humiliated him. She needs him to move to a new office to get it straightened out and she expect them to work as a team. He is the sweetest man but he makes her comply to his family needs before agreeing to move to the new location. It’s a predictable story, but very well written and enjoyable.
Another Baxter Brother Finds Happiness
This is a wonderful, clean romance. It is as good as the rest of the series. There are so many funny parts that caused me to laugh out loud or at least smile big. I have enjoyed this series and would love to see it continue. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
I love the Baxter Boys. These stories from Jessie Gussman have such heart. Bring Me Back is Ben’s story. Ben has raised his twin sisters since he was 14. He has stayed away from the rest of the Baxter’s because of his abusive father. However he has stayed in contact with Gran. You can read the blurb so I will not go into more plot details. Ms. Gussman’s characters are so realistic and personable I feel like they are friends. This story is told with her usual compassion. She takes broken people and with God’s help and lots of love, many HEAs occur. I can never put down one of her books. This may be my favorite one so far.
I LOVE this family!
This is a 5+ star story by a very talented storyteller.
Those that have read the series, have heard about the oldest brother, Ben Baxter, who ran away to parts unknown when he was 14 years old. A move that changed his life forever. Little did he know then, that he would become mother and father to his two young sisters.
His life hasn’t been easy, but he’s become an honest, loving parent, and a stellar mechanic in a successful company. The love of his life, the one that broke heart him in his youth, Riley,is his boss.
When his Gram gets sick and he’s called to go see her, and the brothers he left behind when he left almost 20 years ago, he made a bargain with Riley. That move will ignite the attraction between them.
Yes, it’s a story about bad decisions, the pressures parents put on their children, and heartaches. But it’s also a story about hope, new beginnings, family, and love.
A story you will fall in love with. Warning, tissues will be needed.
Another winner by this author.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I loved this book. It is book four in the series. The characters are wonderful! I love how Ben finds his family again and how all of the family get together. One of the great things about this series that you get to see the story of the other characters continuing within each book. The romance between Ben and Riley is so sweet. The book is well written and the characters are easy to relate to. This is the perfect romance book. I highly recommend this book.
Ben Baxter ran away from home two decades ago and left his three younger brothers behind in Pennsylvania when he found out that his real mom lived in Maine with his twin sisters. He had no interest in becoming better acquainted with his other family again. He had hated his dad for the person he had been and he wanted nothing to do with those who might be just like him. He had raised his twin sisters since their mother’s death and he was content to keep it at that. But, he wanted more but the woman he wanted more with had betrayed him years ago and he couldn’t forgive her or allow himself to be hurt by her again. She was the boss’s daughter.
Riley Coleman had made the biggest mistake of her life when she let her dad control her and make her give up the best friend and man she had ever known. She had hurt Ben badly and she had wanted to apologize for what she had done for years but she didn’t know how to tell him and when she tried and he had shut her down. But, she needed something from him. He was the best mechanic and shop foreman they had and she needed him to go with her to Pennsylvania to whip their flagship shop into shape. She knew she could do that with Ben’s help but could she get him to agree to it? What would she have to promise to make that happen?
Ben’s Gram was in the hospital in Pennsylvania and he needed to go see her and take his sisters with him but he had lied years ago about his non-existent wife and he needed to come up with a real (fake) wife so he wouldn’t have to tell anymore lies. Riley would be perfect for the role because she wanted something from him and if he could get her to agree he would make everyone happy. At least that was his plan but he never planned to let his heart get involved, even though, she was the only woman he had ever wanted. Would his master plan backfire and burn him again or would he get everything he had always wanted?
This is the fourth of the Baxter Boys books I have read and I enjoyed it as much as the others. It was wonderful to see all the other characters from the previous books come together at last? I have really enjoyed reading all the books and experiencing their lives through their book’s stories. These books are all clean stories with no sordid descriptions or foul language.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly and honestly offer my review.
My favorite trope – fake relationship – but is it really “fake”? Read to find out!
Second chance at love for Ben and Riley – emotional and entertaining.
Jessie Gussman is a fantastic author! The Baxter Boys Series is a great saga of brothers overcoming their shortcomings and finding self worth and loving amazing women. This final book wrapped it all up with the completion of the brothers all being together. It gives some back story and explains why the oldest brother left. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, reading about the other brothers first will make the enjoyment all the better.
Everyone needs a chance or two, including Ben and Riley.
Ben doesn’t realize that he needs a the grace of his brothers. Riley believes that she doesn’t deserve Ben’s grace. When Ben’s grandma gets sick, he needs a favor. Riley has already requested a favor from him to help out in her family’s business.
They make an agreement that will solve both problems. However, their agreement was never permanent and was never supposed to include love.
An inspiring story that demonstrates the power of unconditional grace that love can offer.
This story is about Ben & Riley & a fake marriage so they each solve problems they have with family. I enjoyed it very much, especially since it is read so well by Ms. Rciketts. I received a free copy audible from the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.
I’d been pretty upset with Ben up until this book. I was saddened at all of the secrets and miscommunication that caused so many wounds. I loved this second chance, marriage of convenience and getting to know so many new and wonderful characters.
Audio:
I loved this audio. She’s definitely doing better with each audio. I didn’t have to work to follow everything. Just relaxed and enjoyed the story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Bring Me Back by Jessie Gussman (5 stars)
The mystery of why Ben left is slowly revealed and it makes you realize he had just cause to take off! Also, the mystery of what exactly Riley did to ruin their budding romance is also revealed, he has just cause to avoid her. Until they take on a marriage of convenience!
A wonderful story of budding love, forgiveness and growing a backbone!
There’s the cutest scene at the end- you’ll love it!
There is something about Ms. Gussman’s books that pulls you into the world she creates and makes you wish you lived there 🙂
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
I have so enjoyed this series and was eagerly awaiting this book. While I loved the mending of a dysfunctional family (Ben’s), it seems that Riley had her own set of family problems. In my opinion, it took too long for her to stand up to daddy, but I’m glad she did. She wasn’t disrespectful about it, but she handled it. It was nice to see a HEA for Ben as he had willingly sacrificed so much of his life for his family. I love these sweet, clean reads.
Rating: 5 stars
A sweet, clean, contemporary romance. I liked that this was a blue color romance. The truck repair industry made for an interesting stage that the characters played out their romance. Ben and Riley had a past they had to overcome. Will they be able to fix what went wrong in the past, when Riley lacked the courage to stand up for what she wanted?
The author presented a well-crafted enjoyable story. It kept my interest from the beginning until the end.
I read this story as I listened to the audiobook. I felt the narrator did an adequate job (3 stars). I would have given the narrator a higher rating, if she had been able to differentiate the characters’ voices.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook by the author. I also, purchased the book through Kindle Unlimited. My evaluation was freely given and my opinions were my own. This is a clean read.
Can Ben and Riley have a second chance at love when they come from two different worlds? Ben needs a wife to go back home to Pennsylvania because his grandma is in the hospital. He needs to face his half brothers after leaving them twenty years ago to take care of his real mother and his twin sisters.. Riley needs Ben to improve the family truck business they have in Pennsylvania. They will find family and love and will learn to fight for what it’s worth. The audiobook is great, Jessie write wonderful stories and Patricia whisper them to you and touch your heart.
What a great story. I have to say it is my favorite in this series thus far. I didn’t want it to end. What happened with with Riley’s dad? Did he give in or did they leave the business? Did they have to move out of the house? Ect.
The characters felt real the characterization was so good. It was easy to feel for them all. Nice to see the characters from previous series stories. This story does stand on its own but is greatly enhanced when read within the series order.
I recieved a Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
