I love when I find a series where I enjoyed the second book more than the first and that is what happened with That Night by Azaaa Davis.
That Night picks up where This Time left off, so you will want to read them in order.
A little recap: Nadira Holden had risen after twenty five years of being dead, to a world in which demons and humans lived together in ‘harmony’, or so the humans think. Nadira is possessed by a succubus and struggles to keep a leash on ‘her’. The succubus doesn’t mind killing off her friends, but it breaks Nadira’s heart.
Well, I must say, I am lost in her world, walking with the demons and humans, and wondering who controls what.
Nadira learns many things about herself and what she is capable of when her and her succubus work as one. When their life is on the line, we see who stands strong.
We are, however, left with a cliffhanger (frowning) and I plan to be around for These Moments, the third and final book of Nadira’s story.

Intriguing
Davis pens an incredible story in That Night, the second book in the Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter series. I’ve read book one, and enjoyed it. This is another great story, and I enjoyed how Nadira intended to live a so-called normal life. The characters were remarkable and interesting. This author brings the story to life. The details in the story telling and making Nadira and her battles pull the reader in. The demons aren’t just against her, but her ideas and wants to keep what little soul she has left, brings on another journey. The author’s technique of intense characters and great plotlines is a gift. It’s a great story to follow and try to figure out what will happen next. This author’s characters develop and interacts well with the other characters. “Without laying a finger on him, Nadira walked away. She rolled her eyes at his sloppy attempt to attack her. The demon was blinded by his ego and subdued by his own haste. She was so close to the curb— already looking both ways for oncoming traffic— when she heard something whipping through the air from behind her.” I look forward to reading more by this author. This book is a definite recommendation by Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews.
That Night is the continuation of Nadira’s story and has twists and turns, more demons, and explores magic. Filled with a lot of emotions as Nadira tries to fit into this new world she finds herself in and her new role in it, or lack of one. That Night is a heavier story than book 1, This Time. We get to see more of Nadira’s personality as she experiences doubts, suspicions, anxiety, depression, and daily struggles. Written vividly, the series has kept me riveted throughout. I really liked that Nadira is a very strong lead character. This is series best read in order. The story ends in a cliff hanger so I’m looking forward to release of These Moments.
Sometimes trying out a new author who starts off with a new series can lead to a massive disappointment. Well Hells Bells that isn’t the case with this author. The first book is setting you up!! And I mean that in the best of ways. The back drop is set and then you get to book two and the hammer falls, go ahead author you deserve a mic drop!! Yup if you think book one is all about the set up then this book 2 is all about the action. Now that Nadira knows what has happened and what her mother did to her and why, it’s Hammer Time: Can’t stop this!!! Yup Nadira does some drastic measures with off the chain results and she just gets deeper and deeper into the stew. There’s still plenty of action and yeah what was suppressed is gonna battle to stay that way but drastic measures will cause a reaction and we won’t know if it’s a good or bad thing until it’s too late. Yeah get ready for nail biting, heart palpitating, full on stress sweating and a roller coaster of emotions before it’s done. This isn’t a standalone it’s a cliff hanger so be ready!!
Engaging characters. Keeps you awake and unable to put down. Spent entire night reading. I tried to put it down to get some sleep but I wanted to keep reading. Wow just Wow!

The story That Night is a well-described story but clearly a continuation of a previously published book. Without the knowledge of the earlier story This Time it is difficult to get into the story. You get enough reading instructions to continue the book, but you have to have perseverance.
The story is about a demon hunter, Nadira, who has put down her life’s work because she is partly a demon herself. There is also a succubus in her that sometimes comes up and then takes lives to feed herself. Nadira tries to prevent her demon from harming others but cannot prevent a friend being killed by her. Looking for a way to get rid of her succubus, she turns to a prince in the demon world for help
I thought the approach to the end worked out well.
The message I got from the story was; Embrace yourself in who you are with all your good but also bad sides

This is a great second book for a new to me author. She pulled me in to this world with the first book and i loved it. This book has everything that I look for in my books.I truly loved the action, romance and the amazing world that the author created. This second book shows us more about the world and the characters in it. I recommend this as a great Fantasy read. Happy Reading!

The author continues telling Nadira’s amazing story. And there is so much to tell. The trauma, the doubts, the suspicions, the inability to fit in combined with a lack of will by her loved ones to accept her, the anxiety, the depression, the pain… so much. There is so much for Nadira to deal with and the author delves deep into Nadira’s personality.
This book has a slightly different tone for the most part, due to Nadira’s difficulties to deal with the real world, her indoctrination as a demon hunter, and the experiences she goes through with the only person willing to help her, who is a demon. Then there is Roquelle, a succubus, and a complete opposite of her. Their struggle at this point reaches new heights and causes so many problems and so much confusion.
The author did a stellar job in bringing forward all the feelings, mood swings, weakness, vulnerability and despair Nadira feels. All of it is so palpable, so vivid, so realistic, absolutely amazing. I loved her, hated her, felt pity for her, and cheered for her. I felt Nadira’s despair, hopelessness, and loneliness. And then I felt Nadira evolving and growing strong and powerful.
It was an amazing journey and I can’t wait to see what happens next. A lot remains unanswered, but the most important is resolved, and that is the relationship between Nadira and Roquelle. This continues to be a great, intriguing and gripping series and I’m loving every moment of it.
The books should be read in order: This Time (Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter #1), That Night (Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter #2), and These Moments (Nadira Holden, Demon Hunter #3) coming soon.
ONE EXCITING ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Man, talk about riveted on a razors edge. A whirlwind of activities and mishaps that keep you flipping page after page catapulting all of your emotions into play. One compelling storyline and sensational plot bring this baby bursting to life beautifully. The characters are authentic, relatable and realistic with personalities and depth that keep you captivated from start to finish. Sparks fly as danger and suspense ensues in epic proportions. Non-stop, action packed, heart pounding, hard hitting adventure that brings all the pieces together for one wild ride. The scenes are so vivid and descriptive it gives the illusion you’re right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Azaaa, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
