“For the thrill-seeking romance reader who isn’t afraid of the dark. Bliss. Heartache. Enchantment. No emotion is left untouched.” JB Salsbury, New York Times Bestselling AuthorGideon Masters is the king of the art world, and he’s found his next muse…Me.Only I’m not one of his usual, swooning female subjects. The last thing I want is the arrogant artist peering inside my mind while he paints my body.
But Gideon is more than he appears — and so am I. As I fall deeper under his sinful spell, a lifetime of secrets and lies unravels. Too late, I remember the dark truths they protect:
I am already someone’s masterpiece…
And the original artist wants me back.

Found the titles of each chapter an interesting choice. I’m a little slow so it would take me a little while for the bulb to light.
Deirdre Moss takes us along on a job she needs to do. Gideon Masters is the top bad boy. We get to see what he looks like through her eyes. This is a story where our experiences are due to Deirdre. We get to understand who she is and why she feels as she does. She’s whom we come to rely on when it comes to Gideon.
She made me curious about Gideon’s friend, Finn – and we all know about curiosity. I never could figure out where this author was going to take me. That’s a good thing because we never want to read something that’s going to be predictable. – something you’ve read one too many times. I love it when an author surprises me and our author did that in spades.
We get the feeling for the artist through a model’s eyes. I’m more of a Monet person – it has to make sense in my mind. But Deirdre gives us another perspective. We also get to see her panic and wanting to protect those that she loves. The only issue I had was how her past seemed to bleed into her present and sometimes I had to go back so I could figure where we were. The ending was a surprise but had me wanting to get my hands on Sin Of Love as quickly as possible.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
O.M.G!!! I honestly don’t know what I was expecting from this book but I was left wanting more! Gideon and Deidre are the type of couple I love reading about. She’s the heroine of a survivor. She endured traumatic events since a child but still came out on top in life and career. Not to say she isn’t living a lonely life. But she took everything in her and channelled it into becoming the best. Although, she’s closed off and a hard shell to crack. That’s where Gideon comes in. The dark and brooding hero with his own set of issues. A chip on his shoulder, do whatever he wants type of mentality; he brings life back into Deidre. What I love about him is that he let’s her go because he knows it’s what he needs to do for her. Even though he knows he’ll be losing the Deidre he’s come to love!
Art of Sin by L.M. Halloran was my first read by this author and it was a great introduction. This book was a slow burn darker romance with characters that shared insane chemistry, was steamy and erotic and had a bit of mystery as well. Deirdre and Gideon’s story will consume you from start to finish.
Gideon is a famous artist who does not always makes the best choices. Enter Diedre, a publicist with a past that weighs on her. Yet she was able to build a successful life in spite of it. Now Gideon is her client and not making anything easy. Their chemistry was explosive and light up the pages. Art of Sin by L.M. Halloran was steamy, erotic and engaging. And that ending! I cannot wait to read the next book!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading.
“Thoreau said, ‘We cannot well do without our sins; they are the highway of our virtue.’ But who’s to say what highway one must take, what sins it should be paved with? Is pleasure truly a sin when it’s given freely, without manipulation or motive?” This is a quote used by L. M. Halloran in the book and thought it appropriate for anyone still reading reviews to see if they would be interested. Did it grab your attention? I hope for your sake it did because this story will grab hold and not let go. L. M. Halloran is one of my go to authors for this reason. Her story about Gideon and Deirdre is dark, twisted, broken, sexy as hell and in the midst of all that .. You see this ray of sunshine within the broken pieces of these characters. Both strong and successful, each having survived their secrets, this is one you definitely do not want to miss. Be warned, there is a cliffhanger but if you’re like me, you know her cliffhangers will bring an ending so explosive it will leave you gasping.
Art Of Sin is an exquisite masterpiece of pure art. From the very beginning, I was hooked on this dark and sensual story and I found myself devouring each page. I was enthralled by the characters and the storyline. The way in which LM Halloran weaves words together is extraordinary. I was spellbound by every single paragraph.
Deidre and Gideon’s story is an emotional rollercoaster which left me completely reeling. Enticing, compelling, emotionally intense and heartbreaking, this story is truly captivating
5+++ Stars —> An absolute must read!!!
I always have insanely high expectations when it comes to LM Halloran’s books. From my first taste of her writing in Breaking Giants, I knew I’d finally found an author who, unwittingly, ticked all of my boxes when it comes to my reading sensibilities. Knowing that I had put the author on an almost insurmountable pedestal, I tentatively read another of her works. This next book was also like a breath of fresh air and I realised that she was most definitely not a one trick pony. With each subsequent book, I found myself savouring each and every word the author had written, even in genres and tropes that I tend to avoid.
When I heard about, and read the synopsis for, the Illusions Duet, I knew the story was bound to be another resounding success. When I read the first chapter in the author’s reader group, I was left in a state of unrest awaiting the anticipated review copy to arrive in my inbox.
From the start of the book, I did something very rare for me. I read the book non-stop cover to cover. I am not a patient person and can easily become sidetracked but surprisingly, I found myself 100% entranced by the characters and the storyline.
The first line in the book told me Gideon and Deirdre were going to ensnare me and by the end of the first chapter, I had so many unanswered questions. Quite often in books, one character dominates the other, in the literary sense, but in this story, each character equally captured, intrigued, and fascinated me leaving me in awe of their strengths and attributes when it came to the parts they played in the storyline.
The art angle was unique in this book and added a further layer to what is a sexually inspired piece of fiction. The sexual undercurrents between Deirdre and Gideon were tangible from the first page and only built as the story progressed. Deirdre is openly curious about experiencing sex with multiple partners and Gideon is just the man to satisfy her needs and boy does he satisfy them. Enter Finn! Gideon and Finn together could send anyone’s emotions into orbit, including mine!
Despite the erotic theme to this story, the book offers readers an insight into the mind of an artist and adds a juxtapose position when the corresponding mind is that of a publicist. Deirdre is less bohemian in her approach to life compared to Gideon despite both having had their futures carved out for them as a result of their pasts. It’s Deirdre’s past, however, that adds the suspense element to the story and when it becomes apparent that her past has been resurrected, there is only one person who can help her, Gideon. Having protected those closest to her her whole life, the question is will Deirdre trust her instincts in order to deal with her past once and for all or will she do what she has always done and face her demons alone?
It is at this point that Art of Sin pauses to take a much-needed breath and to enable its readers to return to reality. Fortunately, the finale to this duet is right around the corner. I for one can’t wait.
She’s the ice queen, the one who takes no prisoners and gets the job done.
He’s the wild card, who’s out of control and about to cost his father a merger deal.
Six months to babysit him, keep him on the straight and narrow and out of the press.
Something that should be so simple becomes complicated when his eyes see more than whats infront of him.
My heart can’t take anymore! this is a devastating read that will shatter your soul.
I’m left feeling heartbroken yet angry at the same time. I want to scream at them both! smash their heads together to knock some sence into them, and usually I’m not a violent person!
He’s from a silver spoon upbringing yet he knows pain, and hunger, hurt and betrayal. His art comes from his heart.
She’s not all she appears to be. Her skin portrays her past. One that haunts her both night and day.
Alone they are striking power characters. Together they show their depth, their true colours and in doing so reduce you to a crumpled mess who can’t put the book down!
I was agast, and appalled as she told her story. My heart bled, the light diminished and her darkness became mine.
There is beauty in all things and this book though brutal on your heartstrings and emotions leaves a profound imprint upon your very being.
I can’t wait to read the conclusion. I’m praying my heart can withstand more because I certainly need to know… (Know what…. well I’m not telling you that bit!)
Join me and you will know it’s as simple as that 🙂
I am just floored this wonderful author surprises me every time. The stories just keep getting better. I don’t know if i’m more in love with Gideon or Diedre. I need the next book in my life now, I need to know what happens.
