Ava McFeely has recently lost her mother to suicide. She’s grown up and changed the tragedy to something positive by starting a charity in her mother’s name. She lives in Derry in Northern Ireland, a city plagued with mental health and notorious for the infamous River Foyle, the fastest flowing in Europe and the murderer of many of the city’s inhabitants.
She begins a revolt against a local politician who is campaigning to raise the railings of the bridge, believing that hindering the way in which people can take their own lives will not stop them from feeling suicidal. Once she starts making waves in the local community, she starts to receive messages and presents that she believes to be sinister. Are people trying to get her to shut up? Is she under threat? She strives to find out before she loses everything.

This book was fantastic.
I loved all the suspense that constantly kept you guessing. As soon as you think you have it figured out then BOOM along comes another surprise to knock you off your feet and make you think again. This is the first book that I have ever read by this author but most certainly will not be the last. I immediately want to read the rest of his work.
Anything with mental health interests me and it is a subject that hits close to home. There should be more books that bring attention to this field that will raise awareness like this book does. Not only that but there is also the thriller side to it. I loved the characters and the storyline grabbed right from the very first page.
I kept telling myself just one more page, just one more chapter and then I will stop. Believe me, you will not realise that you have read the entire thing until you have come to the end and time seems to have passed you by.
Utterly fantastic work!!!!
In Too Deep: A Psychological Thriller
By Bradd Chambers
5 out of 5 stars
The book In Too Deep: A Psychological Thriller by Bradd Chambers is a suspense/thriller that had me hooked me in from the very beginning. It is a story that has danger, mystery, suspense, and wonderful characters. The book has twists and turns to it that I didn’t see coming. I loved the character of Ava McFeely. She is a young woman who is deeply affected when her mother commits suicide. That one act causes her to start a charity to help others. Ava is intelligent, kind, and fiercely determined to help others before they take the same step as her mother. When she begins to make waves in the local community, she believes that the items that she is receiving are someone with dark intent. Who is sending Ava these items? Is Ava in danger? Read this book to find out. This story is an emotional one. The author does a good job of bringing attention to the issues of suicide and the mental health issues that plague those who commit it. Ava is an empathetic character that I couldn’t help but want the best for. I wanted her to find happiness. There are additional characters that are introduced. Many of them are friends and family of Ava’s and help and support her. Some have cruel agendas. This is a book with moments of sadness and also moments that touched my heart. The story also had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Don’t miss a book that will not let you go until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.
This book drew me in and held me delightfully-captive from beginning to end. The plot keeps you guessing, the characters are realistic, likable and identifiable and the scenery is described in such a way as to make you feel that you are an actual bystander in every scene. Once I started reading this story, the desperate need for sleep is the only thing that made me put my Kindle down. I am SO excited to move on to the next book in the series!
