Nuttier Than a Pecan Pie is the ninth book in the Bohemian Lake Series, and it’s the first of the series dedicated to Eve Banter and the Bohemian Lake Festival Committee. If you love small-town settings, feisty characters, and just a hint of romance, then you’ll want to buy this amateur sleuth mystery series today!
The March Break brings sweet sugar taffy, snow covered-sleigh rides, ice … today!
After Clara is poisoned at the pie festival, Eve uncovers the neighbor’s whereabouts and, tapping into the town’s historical records, finds a hard nut to crack–one that unravels a conspiracy colder than a nine-ton polar bear carved from ice. Now it’s up to Eve to slip away from a killer, someone nuttier than the town’s prize-winning pecan pie.
Eve might be pushing sixty-two but she’s still got some snap in her garters.

Nuttier Than Pecan Pie, my seventh read from author Rachel Stapleton and the ninth in the Bohemian Lake Mysteries, it won’t be my last. Good, well-written mystery. The characters likable & attention holding. The plot and the sub-plot were both well-developed. I’ll definitely be reading more in this series. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Nuttier Than Pecan Pie could be titled All About Eve! Eve is one of the more flamboyant characters in Bohemian Lake. She gets to shine as the lead detective in this story. With unique characters as townspeople, this novel has more snags and twists than ever. There are the break in, poisoning and murder – a little something for everyone. I really enjoyed how Eve’s personality got to shine in this riveting mystery! You do not what to miss this adventure in Bohemian Lake.
When a treasured doll is stolen from Pike Hart’s Aunt Clara, Eve Banter and the Mabels are enlisted find and get it back. But amidst the chaos of the town’s Sugar & Ice Winter Faire, the theft proves to be more about what’s hidden inside the doll than the doll itself. Suddenly people close to the theft begin to turn up dead and Aunt Clara is drugged preventing her from judging the festival’s prestigious pie contest. Suspects abound as Eve risks her life trying to discover who the thief and murderer are.
This is the ninth book in the “Bohemian Lake” series by Rachael Stapleton, and the first to feature the quirky Eve Banter so prominently. Those familiar with the series finally gain a better look at Eve’s network of spies – the Mabels, and we learn a little more about her family, past, and relationship with another featured character’s (Penny’s) father, Lawrence (Ren) Trubble.
This is just a fun series over all that keeps growing and expanding to encompass more and more of the good folks in Bohemian Lake. All of the characters featured in the various Bohemian Lake spin-off series make an appearance or get a mention so reading this is like visiting family. The mystery behind the action is solid and the resolution sound making for a good story for the cozy mystery lover.
This is another story in the Bohemian Lake series. This series highlights different main characters in different books. The characters cross-over but main character is not the same. This is the first in the series to star Eve. Eve is an older woman who heads an older group of women called “The Mabels”. The Mabels aid Eve in her detecting endeavors.
Bohemian Lake is having a winter festival. But trouble enters into the scene early on. First a doll is stolen, then a murder. Eve is asked to solve the mystery. As usual the story is a lot of fun with great characters and an unusual pecan pie recipe.
