And she’s definitely not supposed to fall for not one but two of Hope Lake’s golden boys: one the beloved high school English teacher, the other the charming town doctor.
With a heart torn between two men and two cities, what’s a girl to do?

Charlotte Bishop is returning to Hope Lake after being gone for 20 years. After her parents contentious, at best, divorce her mom moved them to New York cutting all ties with the small town and never allowing Charlotte contact with anyone from her childhood. Now that her mother has passed and she’s lost her job she needs space to slow down, regroup, and figure out what she wants to do. Making a surprise appearance at her dad’s house the whole town is talking about Charlotte and her return, unfortunately for her, she has no real memories of the town or people including her best friend Henry. Catching the attention of the town’s hot new doctor who also happens to work with her dad threatens to complicate things, especially while she’s trying to remember all the people and places she grew up with. When offered her dream job of running her own florist shop Charlotte has to make a decision.
This is such a sweet and heartbreaking book all at once. I immediately was rooting for Henry, his quiet soft-spoken nature, while at the same time seeing the appeal of Dr. Max. I was so heartbroken for Charlotte and her relationship with her mom, the emotional abuse, the manipulation, it’s so hard to think of someone going through that and the lasting effects, not just on her but also her dad and their relationship. Gigi was my favorite, so funny and full of life despite her age and all the hardships she’s lived through, just excited to have her granddaughter back. I really enjoyed this story, it’s minimal conflict despite Charlotte’s childhood, we don’t see it just hear about it, and a small love triangle.
